In the days when all these watches were a little more affordable and including such classics like the Monster, Samurai, Turtle... I felt I needed at least one Seiko diver in my collection and I went with the Sumo. Nice middle ground.

Interesting comparison. I think I agree with your conclusion about the value, the days of Seiko being great bang for buck are long gone. I'd keep the SKX and probably look elsewhere for the kind of money they want for the other two.

Luck of the draw with accuracy. Some SKX are almost COSC and yet you can get a MM300 that runs +16s. My Sumo is +9 and my Turtle is - 11.

I love this video, three sacred monsters from Seiko.🥰 Personally, I have the two cheaper ones, but I prefer another one that you do not present. An Sbdc061 aka MM200 or babyMM, it exudes a superior sense of beauty.😉 The MM300 is legendary but a little bit too expensive for me.😥

All three are awesome. If i was going to be stranded on an Island like Tom Hanks. I would probably choose SKX. Because the 7s26 is so basic. It can easily go 10-15yrs w/o. any issue.

Hi all, just wanted to mention something. So I’ve had all these, I even had an slao55 (which is a spectacular watch) and I’ve noticed something having tried many watches over the years. My current daily driver is a king sumo with the grey dial, and the sumo is hands down my favourite out of all of them. Why? Because it fits my wrist perfectly. None of the others ever felt quite right on my wrist. The sumo feels like it’s made to measure. It’s slim too, which makes it super wearable, and the king models look lovely. What I’m saying is, TRY THEM ON BEFORE YOU BUY. go into a shop and try them. It’s like clothing, you can pay more or less, but if it doesn’t fit you it doesn’t matter how nice it is, it will never look or feel right. I never thought I’d get a sumo lol, now it’s all I wear because of the perfect fit. It never annoys me. Lots of watches HAVE annoyed me on the wrist, but for me, it’s perfect. The slao55 is spectacular but even with the Seiko bracelet on the sumo (I hate Seiko mid range bracelets because of that divers extension- but for some reason because of the way the sumo fits it’s perfect) I still prefer the sumo. Just something I’ve noticed in all my years with watches haha. Try them on! I have a 7.5 wrist like everyone else, but even with the long lug to lug because the sumos lugs bend down it conforms to MY wrist perfectly. I think we forget about fit too often and how important it is. It can make a world of difference.

This are one of the best watches to have. I own 6 seiko divers namely skx007j1, spb103j1 sumo hulk, king samurai srpe35, Monster 3rd gen. Penguin Back, urban safari tuna, Lastly the King Turtle Dark Manta Ray. I did not have the cash yet to go to saturation diver category so MM300 is new milestone for me but it seems to be more bulkier all in all and heavier. Honestly having a 6.5-6 3/4 inch wrist. The 45 mm sumo hulk was the best fit overall. A little bit heavy but will get used to it after couple of hours. At times I am thinking to let it go but once I give it a try again, the wow factor just kicks in. As a matte of fact when a second hand sumo hulk was spotted on the market place, I did not hesitate to buy it given that I have already one. I was planning to swap it to another colorway or probably modd the dial and the bezel. Or gave it as a precious gift to love ones as it grow on me the easier than the other bunch. I am a g shock user and apple watch user prior and despite being fascinated with watches I couldn’t pick which one is a better choice up until I bought my first one which is an orient kamasu as it is the one I can afford at the time which I am planning to part ways now that I have 3 green tint dial on my collections. I would have keep it if it was the red one as I don’t have a red and orange dial yet. I bought a seiko 5 barcelona FC edition from my home country and is still not in my possession so waiting to have a personal look on it.

Nice comparison of the watchs, skx is a winner on price. Sumo looks a very nice daily wear watch. Mm is in a different league as professional, strap is excellent for wearing over a diving suit with the extension. Any of these I'd use with a heavy duty zulu nato so no fear of losing a spring bar while in the water. If no watersport I'd stick with the bracelet.

There is 2 problems with the MM: first is the 8L35 movement. Seiko doesn't sell parts for it to local dealers. Herr in germany, you have to send it in to Seiko germany. They can fix nearly every problem. For some special issues it has to be send to Japan even by them. Before they got it from you, they don't let you know what servicing will cost at all. Which is sad and unprofessionell in my opinion. The second thing is, the MM300 for deep dive reasons has a monoblock case. Which means, there is no screw mechanism at the backside. Everything has to be done through the front. Only a very knowing mechanic will be able to handle it the right way. The risk is of course to damage something because you handled it wrong. Parts are expensive of course. In germany, search and go for Baris Özdogan in Dortmund. He is an absolute Seikofreak and good watchmaker for all Seikos outthere. Cheers!
