Absolutely gorgeous watch. Much much better than anything Swiss🥰

Thanks mate. It is a lot of value for the money for sure. I like Swiss also but this does beat a lot of them in what I like to see in a watch.
Stunning is the correct word for sure
Keep 'em coming mate!! That seiko is a beast!!

I agree so much 🙂🙏
Superb watch! James Porter is a great shop - I've got all my Sinn, GS and Seiko there. I went for the SNR049 from the LX line, but I was very tempted by the 043. That exact one, in fact! Wear it well fella! Seeing it on film makes me want to track one down...

Hey James thanks for your comment. I still remember the buying experience fondly. Great shop indeed and lovely photos on their insta too.
Very good video. I have been trying to research this watch with the idea of a potential purchase. Your explanation was very helpful!! Thanks mate

@@watchgambit any new thoughts on the watch?

@@TheWesternPacific well the video is just a month old and I've had the watch for 2 years before that so I guess it will remain my favourite and the jewel of the collection for a long while. Maybe just to mention that in principle you have to service the SD movements every 5 years and that can only be done in Japan I guess. I will need to find that out.
Lovely Seiko, looking around at the moment for the snr031j1 to add to the collection, love Seiko I have tuna sbbn015 🔥

Happy hunting buddy. I love a nice tuna as well. Have you checked the field tuna review?
this is a monster !! well done good sir ! worth it every euro ! it will absolutely keep it's value so no worries , very good purchase. definitely better than a Rolex submariner... in my own point of view... quality, finish and specs it is better

Thank you kind Sir. I very much agree on the quality of product side of it and not paying too much attention on the value retention.

How is the PVD coating holding up? Love the look but I am worried about the black fading or scratching
@watchgambit
Жыл бұрын
It's not going to fade. PVD is not a surface coating. The colour is embeded into the molecules as I understand it. But I'm not the expert so google it yourself... 😀
Really like your videos and the review of this specific watch. I am thinking to pull the trigger on the current production SNR031. I hope it will be OK considering the fact that the spring drive is a new technology. Please share your thoughts and experience on this. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the comment. Spring drive came to market in 1999 so I trust it a lot. That second hand sweep will mesmerize you 😀

How do you compare it to the mm300?
@watchgambit
3 ай бұрын
Hi. Lighter, higher, better finish and obviously the spring drive magic versus the pretty good 8L I have in my SLA. I’ll put it this way that I wouldn’t mind selling my MM300 but the SNR is mine forever

@watchgambit stoked to hear, this will be my next timepiece. Edit: these are a man's man's watch. They're meant to look big and badass and also be legible and badass. I'm really excited. I recently bought a Seiko srq029 automatic speedtimer and it's 16mm too (but 2mm is the sapphire crystal, which is beautiful), so I kind of know 16mm size isn't as big as people want to talk sh*te about it. They'd for sure buy one if they could afford it, but the high-end seikos like the lx line seems so out of grasp for 95% of people's budget. So they hate on it and claim they'd rather have a GS or whatever 🙄. I'm not dismissing their opinion on that these are big watches, they are, but thats the point of the design. Having the highest end Seiko is cool in of itself, a spring drive... I'm buying what I like, not what other people like haha. The omega planet ocean is bigger at 16mm+ and a lot of people seem to absolutely love those. Yours is so nice dude! I'm blown away by how good it looks, pictures do not do justice. Great video 😊

@@WristWatcher I’m with you mate. Buy what you like. I had a SRQ029 too. What a gem of a watch and a column wheel chrono at that price #mindblown
