I see comments on low value and just copies of old Seikos. I love old seikos and chased them for years, but I like that I can get the old styling in a new watch. Even though $1400-1500 is steep, I think they’re still an okay value. I may try to buy one, but might wait to see if I can find a used one.

The finishing on my Seiko Tuna Marine Master Ninja is stellar 👌 with that awesome step dial but the finishing on this Seiko? Doesn't look like it's on the same level and the Ninja was a little under $1,100 and you get one legendary movement. The 7C46 high torque movement

Really need to get my hands on one.

For hardcore collectors this isn't that overpriced. It's as faithful a reissue Seiko have ever done with the bracelet and Bezel inparticular unique to this watch. Saying that , I'm sure there will be other colourways down the line, hopefully a blue dial version.

great size (~38mm), thinner caseback would have been a plus. Do you like the silent bezel? (could be a plus for sure). Looks like a spectacular build.

I'd be interested in seeing this side by side with a black baby pro, similar style and gmt. I reckon the finishing can't be that far off in quality.

Will wait until these turn up on the used forums for ~$900 in a few months, that'll then be a fair value for this one. And how's the legibility with the silver hands against the sliver gray dial, when not under your bright studio lights?

I own one and can confidently say I will not be selling this watch any time soon and very much doubt anyone who grabs one will let it go either it’s stunning and the price in my opinion is very fair

Not that much. Its average seiko diver finish in that regard.

Putting price aside for a bit, this might be a better alternative to the new 38mm seiko 5 divers. At least it has some historical chops and has a useful GMT function. But once the price is factored in... 😵‍💫

haha thanks man! I wish I could get a better camera like the big channels use but the wife keeps saying my crappy cam is good enough for youtube. And $5200 bucks buys a nice watch so I rather get a watch then a new camera ever single time I save enough. But the shots can be so much nicer with more dynamic range if I ever upgrade. Also, not sure about the twitter adverts? I'm hardly on there. And yes NO X is a WIN! But the all new design seiko diver 6L coming out has it! so only reissues get the no X it seems

Ha ha - making the most of what you got - doing well with it. Yes DR would improve, but as most people are watching it on a phone or at low res 'cos of 5hitty wifi..! Looks perfect on your wrist. The Seiko Alpinist GMT in black IMO is also a looker and less coin but also too expensive for what it is.

Pretty watch. I wonder why they made the lug width 19mm for this, but not for the Willard reissue. Wish it was a travel GMT, not a caller. Not loving the bracelet, and no drilled lugs to make life easier changing it. Indices are nice. Maybe the best part. Dial is very nice too.

Regarding the Seiko logo, I think what Seiko meant to say was that they used their older, more lowered typeface for the "Seiko." If you put this next to a "modern" Prospex, you can see how the current Seiko logo is slightly taller.

Absolutely love it but its just too expensive for what it is.

Man, this wasn’t a $1500 (equivalent) watch when it came out. Not even close.

I don't think I can do Seikos anymore, esp those in the $1.5k-2k range, they're low value compared to the competition.

Limited edition until there release another similar limited edition.

They have a winner with this design but overpriced as usual with Seiko. Will wait a year for it to inevitably show up in a black Friday sale at 50% off

1:41 Isn't a dimple concave? When I think dimple, I think dimples on cheeks or a dimple on a chin. None of those are protruding shapes that bulge outward 😂. They bulge inward (i.e. concave). Or have I just lost my mind and need to go back to third grade? 😂

Perfect dimensions and looks, way too overpriced.

First off, GREAT review. But this does not have the specs for their asking price. That beat rate is too slow. The dial is too bland. So many better $1500 options. Was hoping to see this around 895 USD. Hey, at least they gave us Sapphire.😏

Seiko has gotten greedy, there I said it and I'm a huge Seiko and Grand Seiko lover. 6R3'4 for over 1500 bucks. I own many Seiko and GS but I believe the SJE093 was my last Im moving on and will give others my money. It's a nice watch but not for me.

I agree. I love my SJE093. Easily my top 2 Seiko watches. My other favorite is the SJE089.

To be honest I think people lives in the past and giving way too much value for that "Swiss made"- print. I have 8 Seikos: 5- series GMT, Samurai, Sumo, Speedtimer, SPb143, MM300, etc and latest new GMT diver SPB383J1. I also have Tudor Black Bay 41 and you can put anytime MM300 or even new SPB383J1 on same line as Tudor and there's no difference in quality, they are awesome watches. Seiko is made in Japan but in these days, it's serious competition against same price range Swiss watches today. Of course there is a different with 1800e Seiko GMT and 4000e Swiss made GMT, but it only make sense when the price is also double, it doesn't make Seiko overpriced. If you want budget friendly Seiko, buy 5-series.

That's a lot of dust on the dial for a $1500 watch.

This watch is Very Good for Swimming, Water Sports and perfect Daily Dress watch. GMT with 6R-54 movement and three days power reserve are great features. However; at this price point, a signed screw down crown should have veen available. Best regards from Egypt.

Seiko lowered the logo as on used the older shorter Seiko word font as far as I understand.

Increase the life of this watch? It already will outlive its owners.

When I hear “ Seiko’s proprietary super hard coating” I know that means Hardlex, and that’s a pass for me considering almost every micro brand used sapphire and manage to sell the watches cheaper in most cases. Nice review.

this watch has a sapphire crystal so i don't get the point of your comment. The "super hard coating" is referred to the stainless steel of the case, it has nothing to do with the glass

And, oh, boy, is the GMT hand misaligned? Of course, it is!!!

$1500 for a watch with a 21,600 bph movement is a joke. Especially when you can get a Miyota true GMT, 28,800 bph movement for less than $1000.

Very nice but far too expensive for a push pull crown and only 100m of water resistance, i won't be getting one! Sorry Seiko.

What on earth is a 6.6 inch wrist? Who mixes imperial and metric measurements.

Great case/watch design. But as always, shitty unregulated Seiko movements. You see, the reason why they will never beat the Swiss in automatic watch making, is because for ex Swatch Group brands can reach high level of accuracy (+2/3 sec a day) for a very attainable price. (my ceramic Hydroconquest gains 3 secs a day) Unlike Seiko, where you have to buy some ultra high-end GS or a super high-end Seiko diver to get what... +10 or 15 sec a day, or often even more?? Absurd. Seiko = Hard pass.

Seiko thinks too highly of itself. Stay under 1k, trash movement trash bracelet unsigned crown
