Seigi no Mikata is a game for the Playstation 2 developed by Sony and released in 2002, only in Japan. It's presented as a tokusatsu show, each chapter of the game is called an episode and takes place in mostly real time.
Like Cocoron(Famicom) you assemble your own hero from various parts and styles. It's also similar to Rent-A-Hero No.1 in how you play as a kid who gets a thing that turns him into a part-time hero.
The battles are done in a RPG-card battle-kind of style where you enter your attacks, then the enemies enters theirs, then you see how you did. It's not a common system but at least Fate/Extra used something similar.
It's a humorous game and it has even has a commercial break and viewer mail you can look at when the episode is over.
To win you need to beat the enemies of course, but also maintain a certain number of ratings(remember, the game is a show) which mini-games on the side can help with.

Apparently what the doc gives you allows you to do crítical attacks to bosses. And winning fights with it increases the rating. According to gamefaqs FAQ. "You perform Critical Hits when you are defending. When while you are defending, your HP drops to 3 or below, press the O button to activate a Critical Hit. You can only perform 2 Critical Hits in one battle. After you successfully perform a Critical Hit in one episode, visit Doctor Damon at the Mansion Outside of Town to receive a new Critical Hit Skill in the following episode. You can change your Critical Hit Skills at the Command Menu accessible anytime during the game by pressing the Triangle Button."

I'm going to play episode 8 soon, and I haven't used a single critical attack yet, my health hasn't gotten to 3 or below one time. I did lose one battle though due to the enemy's death attack (press 3 buttons in 1.5 seconds, gulp)
