See James Webb Space Telescope's view of Neptune in stunning 4K

Ғылым және технология

The James Webb Space Telescope's Near-Infrared camera (NIRCam) captured stunning imagery of Neptune. It is the "clearest view of this peculiar planet’s rings in more than 30 years,” according to ESA/NASA. Full Story: www.space.com/james-webb-spac...

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize it because so few images circulate of the planet with the best images taken so long ago. Jupiter surprised me when they discovered them, although It really shouldn't have been considering there are soooo many moons clanking around .

Neither of those are currently in the right place for Webb to view as it has to keep pointing almost directly away from the sun - there not a huge range in the field of view. Uranus should be available in a few months if I’m looking the current planet positions correctly, but Proxima will have to wait nine months or so I think.

Neptune's diameter is less than half of Saturn's while being over three times farther away. The resolution also gets lower when using infrared light with longer wavelength than visible light, but the rings are much brighter in infrared.
