Webb Captures a ghostly Neptune! Explaining the New James Webb Space Telescope Image (4K)
The James Webb space telescope has once again turned its powerful gaze towards our solar system, capturing an incredible image of a ghostly Neptune and its elusive, dusty rings in detail not seen for decades. Neptune has fascinated researchers since its discovery in 1846, yet the only spacecraft to have ever visited the distant planet was NASA's Voyager 2 during a flyby in 1989.
In the visible spectrum Neptune appears as a blue orb in front of a black background, but when we look at it in infrared many more incredible features come into view. It's been three decades since we last saw Neptune and its rings in this much stunning detail and clarity. So what can we see in Webb's latest image of the ice giant Neptune?

"a billion light years away". Absolutely unreachable, even at the speed of light, how mad is that. The universe is crazy!

The Astrophysical Journal published in April 2022, HD1 is a galaxy that's 33.4 billion light years away...
Absolutely beautiful. The James Webb telescope is doing wonders :), it's finally nice that we get to see a different image of Neptune apart from the one made 30 years ago. Hopefully there are many more to come! 🤞🏻

The voyager images are amazing, but when I saw this for the first time I had to pick up my own jaw. I never would have imagined seeing our planets with such tremendous details through a telescope in our orbit, least of all Neptune.

This is why I've always loved Neptune, I knew it was spectacular, but THIS is mesmerizing!!!!!
I thought only Saturn had rings. That's why I love channels like this, where you learn something while being entertained.

Im pretty sure all of the gas giants have rings. It’s just that Saturn’s completely outclass the rest due to their size and overall magnificence. Jupiter, Uranus’s, and Neptune’s rings are all much smaller and definitely harder to see.

I’m looking forward seeing the rings around Uranus.
This absolutely stunned me the first time I saw this. The amount of detail and color the JWT can produce is nothing, but amazing and extraordinary. I never thought we'd ever see such clarity of our planets like we are now. It's always been in the back of my mind if we'd ever see planets with such details and now its actually happening. Incredible!
It is incredible how this new telescope gives us a new look and scope into the universe especially with those beautiful galaxy photos
I remember seeing Saturn through a telescope for an astronomy lab class I took in college. It still gives me chills, absolutely amazing
When I die (assuming that anything comes after death), I hope that my disembodied consciousness can float dreamily above the dim, blue clouds of Neptune. I could pass through eternity comfortably like that

I have thought that too - that if there really is an omniscient creator of the Universe, I would love to have a guided tour from them after I die. Imagine seeing the interior seas of Europa, see where Oumuamua came from, watch a star go supernova, or see galaxies millions of light years away...
So beautiful and mysterious at the same time. Neptune is my second favorite planet after Earth. I can't wait to see more pictures from JWST. Awesome video as always.❤️💐
no doubt, the Webb telescope is quite incredible
*My favorite planet & my favorite moon (Triton). I wish in the next decade we will have a similar exploring probe like Galileo or Cassini for Neptune & Uranus. Imagine the quality of images and other scientific data with the current technological advancement.*

JSWT has created interest in most people, not just those who study/do research in space science/astronomy. Everyday, we can expect some surprise/news in astronomy with JWST in woking condition.
Another Excellent Video, Thanks V, Have a Great Weekend. 👍🔭
The infrared picture is stunning! Almost beyond words the way it crackles with mystery!
Yay!! I was hoping for one of your videos!! Eagerly anticipating the next. Thank you so much!!!
This is absolutely stunning, can't wait for more webb images. And hope all is well V1. 👍
They are sure incredible pictures! Love that telescope & the amazing pictures it's been a blast seeing all you post on it Ty Luv&Peace Cheers Sean&family. 🙂
Neptune is so beautiful
Excellent presentation ! Very significant views of Neptune !
Really appreciate your videos! I always look forward to them.
Best astronomy channel. Great to have a UK representative on space discovery's. 👍
Thank you for giving us this much brief Video 💖
Saturn’s rings were the main reason I used to like that planet. In recent years, however, Neptune has become my favorite planet. Despite what we know now with the information we have from _Voyager 2_ and the James Webb Telescope, there’s still so much we have yet to discover. The Great Dark Spot has also been a source of many questions I’d like answered. How did it form and die? How famous is it compared to Jupiter’s Great Red Spot? When was it at its strongest? Triton is yet another bewildering topic. If it was a retrograde dwarf planet once, how did Neptune capture it? What’s the reason for its icy volcanoes? The more answers we get, the more questions we ask. Because of this, science will continue beyond this generation, but that’s okay. More and more discoveries about the Solar System will be unlocked.

What also gets me is that Neptune's core is as hot as the surface of the sun. It's called an ice giant, but really even a couple hundred kilometers above it's core and we'd be boiled alive. Jupiter's core is even hotter than that. Neptune is awe inspiring and dangerously gorgeous.
Triton surface being a mirror and reflecting all light is unique
This was excellent work and well researched. What a fascinating world we find ourselves in.
Gosh man I love your content. I'm already subbed but seriously thinking about joining your patreon you are awesome man keep it up.
The JWST is just a mind blowing piece of ingenious technology, we are now seeing things in not only our own Solar System but nearly as far back as time will allow us, when you pointed out the spiril galaxy at the end of the video and said it was a billion light years away, I was purely stunned! Fantastic video as always "V" 👍
Neptune in Infrared mode is amazing The james webb telescope really broke the record! It made other planets look better! Maybe sometime in the future there will be another telescope like james webb telescope But even better! Just imagine The james webb Telescope , But even better
Amazing as usual
Simply wow. It's so stunning it's hard to describe
Awesome videos as always say 🌍
Thanks for this valuable video. Loads of amazing information. The Webb Telescope is mankind's most advanced and breathtaking telescope. Looking forward to more shots!

I never was really interested in space until Hubble piqued my interest. The new JW images are giving me goose bumps. Thank you for such a great narrative. Goose bumps.
Great and informative.
At first seeing the image i was thinking it was Saturn 🤦🏻♂️

Love this channel..💞💞 So much information..U make great videos..There doing a triton mission in the coming years..
Fantastic video! 👍
Triton sounds like an alien super structure here to monitor Earth progress 🤣
Amazing 😍
That's absolutely incredible and amazing.
Awe inspiring! The mind (my mind) is not able to contemplate what went into the makings of these worlds, and how they're able to maintain their places in the universe.
Bloody beautiful this.
Brilliant doco with images I've never seen before 👍
Hi Awesome video. With more information. Thanks.
Very late to this, but many thanks again. The galaxy at the end was mind-blowing.
Wow 👏
Mankind's most powerful telescope. The observable universal will become bigger in the coming years...
Thank you so much !!!!
I really hope observations like this will spark new interest in the ice giant planets so more missions to visit them directly can be funded and streamlined to get there ASAP. I know there are talks about a possible mission to Uranus, but that's still many years off from becoming a reality, IF it happens at all.
Absolutely incredible. Awesome. Phenomenal. Beautiful. I'll stop before I have to refer to a thesaurus.
Really nice video
My favorite planet after Earth. And V, this video was very nicely done. You continue to grow in your production skills. Many thanks!! Wishing you and Rolo a blessed weekend. 👍🇺🇸💙🇬🇧

Awesome 👍
Incredible picture, but i thought it would be a bit less fuzzy . fir a tekescope like the James Web.
Stunning content as usual, thank you.
This is amazing also this video are show a real image of Neptune and its ring👍
Superb
this planet is close enough to the sun to orbit it, yet so far away it takes 4 hours for the light to reach it. Imagine flipping a switch and waiting that long to see anything while you're blown away by the strongest wind ever discovered.
4:30 Call out to my boy Triton!
LOVE.
Unbelievable JWT
Wow. It looks like a jewel.
Certified Platinum!!!!!
amazing
Fun fact: This video was uploaded on Neptunes 177th discovery anniversary
Thank for for such a delightful narration! It's interesting how Triton contrast to reflect light while Neptune absorbs it, and Triton orbits in opposite direction to an average satellite in the Solar System. No wonder our minds had just being blown. What was the other light 45* NE from Neptune at 7:31? Also, where could one access the image for further eye pick?
I'd like to see Uranus and Pluto with JW.

What's the name of that first song? Nice Video indeed.
Never heard it pronounced as "me-thane" gas before, tell me I'm not the only one please
There might be some good science to do on Triton if they shorten the exposure time with Webb.
Honestly it's fascinating we have these things in our own solar system and know nothing about them. Why are they there? What are they doing? What is on them? Will we ever know....
🥇🥇🥇
Its Nibiru coming for us...be ready
Ironically Neptune is actually not as blue as the 1989 processed, contrasted image from the voyager spacecraft. The planets colour is actually similar to Uranus.
👏
I wonder if Triton is brighter thru a normal telescope as well or if this is just the result of JWST's IR spectrum?
Since Titan rotates opposite from Neptune and Neptune has relatively new rings, could Titan cause another moon to be broken apart, maybe pushing it in an area where it's place and rotation eventually collided with another moon? Will Titans chance go up if it intersect another's moon's orbit and one day might collide with one of the others either destroy that moon or destroys both and making another ring of so titans reflectiveness might make a ring that's easier to see? Who knows maybe this "planet X" could of been the cause of pushing titan over there with Neptune.
Neptune was discovered 176 years ago, so 2036 is going to be the 180th anniversary of the distant ice giant's discovery!
I have one question what happen to Pluto the Plante?
