Security Stories 1 - Knockouts, drowning and arrest!

I had a few people ask about my time in the security sector. I spent 23 years doing security work of various types and I have some pretty crazy/funny/terrible stories from that time. This first story features a self confessed terrorist, a knockout, a drowning lady followed by a drowning Police Officer, and a trip to the custody suite for me. It sounds mad but it really happened back in the good/bad old days!
If you enjoyed the story then leave a comment for more. If you didn't tell me and I won't carry on posting them! The great thing about this channel is I can throw stuff out and see if you like it! If you really like it then please subscribe and hit the notification bell, it really helps small channels like this one.

I think a good fighter had to been humbled at some point and they’re very intellectual and soft-spoken. A lot of Pacific Islanders are really good fighters. I grew up around Hawaii Guamanian Somoa Tonga a lot if good fighters just indestructible and sleeper attitudes really nice people but have that switch and then there is no talking

@JP-xs5lo I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it. I've always had big friends. Either consciously or not. But being a small guy with a big mouth it's always nice to have one around. Especially if they're friends enough to shut me up before I start something I know I can't finish. It was the alcohol. I had to stop. I totally turn into a person I don't know. I'm so laid back and chilled but when I'd drink I'd get stupid mean. Lucky all I lost from it was my teeth. There is definitely a reason for weight classes. 😆 PeaCe. Didn't mean to rant

A general thought on the police. They are neither your friend nor your enemy. They are there to do a job and there are as many apathetic ones as with any other job. Be polite and protect your rights.

I think maybe they were concerned about the optics of possibly arresting a trans person. Trans organisations can really kick up a fuss and get a lot of press attention if they think the police are being transphobic. There are some trans people who just put on a wig and Britney Spears clothes and call it a day.

Thanks for sharing this. I've done security for 20 odd years too, I'm in Victoria Australia, I've got about a hundred stories too I could tell and I might tell a few on my channel. It's the same over here - if a guard hits someone in self defense it's always the guards fault! Depending on where I've worked I've had some great cops, but most of them couldn't care less about you or even have contempt for you, you are right in saying coastal towns are the worst, I worked in a coastal town for about 10 years, the main trick is to get in with the locals cos when shit went down they would have your back, especially when big groups from big cities would come down and start trouble

I was involved in a pool hall fight once. The night started out alright hanging with my friends. Then It went south and went south quick. Some Hispanic boys tried picking up pool sticks for striking. Basically the entire fight went down around the pool table. Lots of opportunity weapons laying around. Pool sticks, balls, beer bottles and glasses. Yeah that was a crazy night. The place cleared out after that fight.

15:56 “Not been ‘water trained’” reminds me of when PCSOs first appeared on the scene, a little boy drowned in a pond that was about 4” deep, watched on by two PCSOs who did not lift a finger to help because, they said, they hadn’t received “training”.😩🤷‍♂️. It may have been in Liverpool, I can’t remember, it was quite a long time back. It fed into the debate on just how effective these new recruits actually were. Come to think about it, it could well have been in the time period you are talking about here.🤔

@@alexjohansen1337 That's just nonsense. While I'm not familiar with UK law any reasonable country has laws that when you're trying to help you can't be held liable for things you do wrong unless it's gross incompetence like you pretty much actively would need to try to do harm. You're just completely unfit to be a police officer if you'd watch a kid drown because there's like a small chance you'd get sued and a 0% chance you'd actually be found at fault. The more I hear about life in Britain the more baffled I am. Being from Germany I thought Britain is fairly similar to us but they seem to have fully gone down the gutter.

You can gain an adverse inference from remaining silent in the UK? That's crazy! Basically anywhere else everyone always tells you to never answer questions, always remain silent and only ever have your lawyer make staments on your behalf. Police never want to find out the truth they want to have as many convictions as they can get so doing an interview never works out in your favour if you're accused of a crime.

  • @thatgearguy

    @thatgearguy

    20 күн бұрын

The Court could draw an adverse inference if a suspect is being questioned by the police and the suspect does not mention a fact which he relies upon in his defence (because the suspect exercised their right to silence) and it was in the circumstances existing at the time reasonable for the suspect to have mentioned the fact when questioned. An example of this would be a person being interviewed for dangerous driving, that person provides a ‘no comment’ interview and at trial raises a defence of mistaken identity. The Court is less likely to believe the defence, as such a crucial point would have been within the knowledge of the suspect during the interview, and therefore the defence should have been place on record at the police interview.

I have also witnessed Police failing to gather vital evidence which was being destroyed because it involved them ascending a ladder. They had to call a "ladder team" who bought their own ladder with them. It was almost Benny Hill like in ridiculousness. If I were a career criminal I would learn all the things they arent allowed to do and structure my activities accordingly. Maybe dealing drugs off the second floor of a small boat is a viable career choice these days...

I've actually worked in clubs, but mostly as barback/bartender/sometimes checking/scanning documents by the door, dealing with tickets, cleaning, basically everything except security, but even then when something happens, you go check and help... I worked in a very niche goth club, where people have a bit more "depth" to them usually, but I've seen how they can be. From what you talk, I can clearly see how it is true, and good that I didn't go to security, I'd just collapse under that tension, I think, or do something over the line... Did you have martial arts experience? Of course in those situations raw strength and especially endurance matters more, the ability to deescalate is, of course, the priority.

There are lots of examples of people jumping into water to save somebody but then end up drowning or needing saved themselves. So, if you're not trained to save someone from the water, there is a high chance that you will add to the number of people who need saved.

Odd in the USA in my community the police work as doormen at nights and the departments have a working relationship with bouncers to combat crime even sharing info and training like a symbiotic relationship. UK seems a bit more woke police.

I worked Security for a little less than our man here, yeah generally the Irish love a drink. One of the most capable people I ever met was a Irishman, lad from Dublin. Teetotal and a absolute machine. Luckily I worked with him. 😂 Generally the worst are young British/English guys, and this is coming from a Englishman. Our binge drinking culture is kind of embarrassing…

been there for years in Brisbane QLD had most doing strip clubs and got more hassle off police then got asked to supervise and was in big demand around Australia but did a favor for the premier of QLD and witnessed a sexual assault while everyone else watched I stopped it so moved to a private inquiry agent and used very creative ways to do the work though I had very close calls , moved to bodyguard work because of the guy who did s.a and got vindictive as well as a rash of workers getting assaulted and ended driving stars as well as looking after them but work dropped off with laws changing and worked laboring where I injured myself so ended making BDSM gear for adult shops that ended up appearing all round the world until G S T came in and couldn't cover material costs . People and things I've seen were crazy but I saw nothing if you get my drift . was interesting life , now no one wants to even say hi . thanks for reminding me of the interesting times .

The police can NOT use your 'No Comment' interview against you! There could be a multitude of legitimate reasons you didnt want to talk to police, maybe you were frightened by the situation, you could be tired or stressed and unable, you might be ill, also some people have conditions that dont allow them to talk in official situations etc. They are not allowed to use your silence against you. I say ALWAYS go 'No Comment' and your idea of a pre-prepared statement is also superb IF you have notice beforehand (you dont usually get notice though!) If you are innocent a 'No Comment' stops your words being used against you and you getting fitted up. If your guilty that 'No Comment' can save you from major problems!

Here we go official guidelines here: 'you can excercise your right to remain silent without any negative inference being drawn against you in court'. I say ALWAYS go 'No Comment' if suddenly brought into the police station without notice. If you talk to the police purely your simple words can be enough to get them a conviction. If you stay silent it is all on them to do what their paid for and actually PROVE your guilt!

  • @thatgearguy

You are incorrect. It isnt the Police who use it against you. It is the court. In court the judge asks the jury to consider that anything you say following a no comment interview must be viewed with a little more suspicion. A no comment interview along with no statement taints any following court case. I know this because I have had quite a lot. You have all the time in the world to make a pre prepared statement. You dont need to come into the place holding it. Once you are arrested you request a solicitor. When he arrives you sit with him and create a pre prepared statement before interview. You can refuse interview without a solicitor and you must legally be allowed time with your solicitor prior to interview. Thus a prepared statement is the best course of action.

@thatgearguy the last time I got nicked I was in the cells for 12 hours. The solicitor turned up and I was interviewed about 15 minutes later at midnight. No chance for preprepared statements. Regarding the No Comment it was incorporated into UK law in 2003 no guilt can be inferred in relation to a No Comment interview. It would literally be against UK law to do so, as I said there's a load of completely innocent reasons someone might not want to talk during interview and it's your legal right and option to take. Doing ANY interview in an emotional state (like i was at the time) is a BAD idea and you would be suicidal to give a statement then. If I had spoken I could well still be inside today (this happened late 2019) I was arrested at 11:00 and not interviewed until 0:00. The police don't give a shite about you or your story, they just want to look good to their bosses. NEVER talk to police without a solicitor present and from the numerous cases I've read about a No Comment is the statistical winner, guilty or not.

@thatgearguy as I said there's a bunch of legit reasons for not wanting to talk that can be brought up in court by your solicitor. Me for example over 12 hours in a cell and then interviewed at MIDNIGHT (by someone I used to go to school with! Someone I had no ill feelings towards prior) knackered, not been sleeping right for days and 'unstable'. They woulda stitched me up proper. @#£% um and don't make it easy for them! My statement WOULD have been used against me. Without it their case is a LOT more difficult to prove!
