Security Stories 2 - The truth about strip clubs..

If you have ever been to a strip club as a customer or seen them in movies you may have some ideas on how they work. In fact they are not always the way people imagine. I spent 4 years running security in them and it was quite the experience.. My fiends thought I had the dream job but that wasn't quite how things ended up...

I was an Uber driver for a year in Phoenix. I realized after a while that picking up the drunk guys at the strip club at 4 AM was usually the best ride to get. They were just like you described. Very nice, sweet, young innocent men. they would always joke about how much money they just lost. Tell it was just guys who were super awkward with women, but wanted that girlfriend connection. I would also occasionally take the dancers home. They were conceited party girls who didn’t care about anyone who were the opposite of sweet.

Yeah, my mom was a dispatcher for a cab company for many years, she told me the drivers hated picking up girls from the strip clubs. Like dancers, hair dressers etc., cab drivers are private contractors who pay the cab company a fee each shift that doesn't include gas, cleaning and so on so it was entirely possible on a slow night to work a 12 hour shift and actually lose money. So the dancers should be sympathetic to the drivers needing to get paid, right? Wrong! Even though they had probably just made several hundred dollars or more, bragged about it, at the end of the ride they wanted it free for the privilege of being a hot girl or maybe for a quick flash or watch two of them play with each other for a bit. When the drivers said no, they need the fare- the girls became whiny, petulant or just down right nasty to them. Didn't even think about the body glitter clean up factor.

I've heard a few stories from friends that strippers were "really into" them and liked them so much that she organised to go on a date with them next week (but they're not allowed to give out their phone number) and when the girl didn't show (surprise, surprise) the guy will mope back to the club looking for her and she'd say "Oh I'm so sorry, I forgot." or "Oh babe I needed the extra shift and had to work tonight. Since you're here, do you want a private dance?" and string the guy along for months until he realises it's just a sales technique.

I was a county sheriff for 10 years. We had a strip joint on the edge of an Indian reservation and it was bar none the roughest place I’ve ever had to go into. The girls were all Native, some underage, most on drugs and all were turning tricks. We finally told the owner that no shit will be tolerated anymore so he hired a bunch of goons to keep the peace. It got 10 times worse when they started. He finally went to prison for human trafficking.

@@leftseat30 I can’t think of a people, full disclosure my grandfather is Lakota Sioux, that has had more misery brought upon on it by others and sadly, by itself. Reservations are a never ending cycle of dependency, they’re given enough government money to survive but too much to want to better their lives. Tribal councils, in the area I worked, are corrupt, give kickbacks and have their own enforcement that keeps them in power. I hated going onto the res because I knew it wasn’t going to end well because their system is just too well engrained generation after generation. I seriously don’t know how to end this other than the government just giving them the land and cutting all assistance and say you’re on your own but I know that’s never going to happen. What happens on the res is a closely guarded secret and most of the violent crimes are never reported, it’s just the way it is.

He said that most were entitled toddlers in adult bodies. Most were either alcoholics or drug addicts, and pretty well all were tied up with motorcycle gangs in one way or another. They’re damaged goods. He used to try and break up cat fights, but got to learn that it was futile and he would end up getting the worst of it. Instead, he would just stand back and let nature take it’s course. Can’t say as I blame him. I started out as security for a stirp club in South Florida. After roughly 15 years, I worked my way up to ownership partner. Most of the girls were very well educated, self-supporting students. Maintaining the "girlfriend experience" illusion is paramount. At closing time, the parking lot was cleared of stragglers, then a mandatory 20 minute "all-clear" time was imposed before the ladies were escorted to their cars by security. The dressing room was an entirely different experience. Keep in mind, naturally a group of women who spend a considerable amount of time together they tend to synchronize their biological functions. So,.... bluntly speaking, you could easily have 20 girls all on PMS psychosis. Not fun.

They acted like they were doing the male customers a big favor. 25-35% of the guys even said directly to me the dancers were bad, not worth the $$$. Only 10-15% of the women were decent looking. 2-3 I had close contact with. Not sex but a few clearly wanted male attention. A few were messes. Like Jerry Springer show bad.

Everything you talked about is true. I've been through it all just like you. I worked in one club in Los Angeles for over four years and then not quite a year at a club in Hawai'i. I was a doorman, DJ, and manager. I even had to strip down to my underwear each year on my birthday for the dancers after the club closed. I made close to a thousand dollars each time. I would average about $500.00 per night in tips from the dancers. We had 75 girls on the roster and any night we could have between 40 and 75 girls working. Some did 4 hour shifts, some did 6 hour shifts. We had one large stage with two poles and two girls would share the stage for two songs. Then they could change outfits and they had to wait tables serving drinks while on the floor. Or they could sit with a customer if he is buying drinks and or paying for table dances. It's funny how you become so jaded from working in that business. Some dancers are so hot you never get tired of looking at them but most of them you've seen naked so many times and without makeup in baggy sweat pants and sweatshirts and you wouldn't look at them twice on the streets. We hear every line, every scam, every hustle, every lie, every complaint about how the customers are tipping and how they don't want to be there and can they go home. Then there aee the ones who leave without tipping the doorman, the dj and they will give the bartender's the smallest possible tip. And say they had a bad night forgetting or just too dumb to realize our job is to watch every girl all night and we see how much each girl is making so they are the ones who don't get any favors and don't get to dance to the full song because we cut it short so she really won't make any money. Our club had a capacity of just under 300 customers and it would be packed beyond capacity with a line outside with another 30 guys wanting in. It was a crazy place. We had business men, truckers, college frat boys, Black gang members, Latin gang members, White gang members, bikers from different gangs, construction workers, bachelor and bachelorette parties, rock stars, sports stars occasional actors, we had strippers from the the other local clubs come in and hang out, hookers weren't alliwed in if we knew they were hookers, we had two pool tables so we had the pool sharks hustling drunks, there would be fights almost every night, the cops would hang out in the parking lot and sonetimes come in for a coffee and talk to the girls and a lot of cops would come in in a group off duty and drink and get dances. I'm sure we could talk for hours about the different stories and the same stories we have. It was fun and it was also a job that could get dangerous real fast. And you learn a lot about women if you didnt know much before you started working in strip clubs. You get a whole new perspective on women, how they think about men, how they deal with other dancers, their promiscuity, their alcohol and drug habits, etc... It was a wild experience but just another small part of my extraordinary crazy life. Take it easy or any way you can get it. LOL

I worked in strip clubs here in the states for around 22 yrs...after the military. I stopped around 2016 or so. Some were very large 30-40 dancers a night ( on weekends more often ). Others weren’t quite so large. But i always made good money. Which is the exact same reason that it’s hard for dancers to quit! I only worked at two nightclubs that were not stripclubs! One in a college town when I was in the military. And the other was in a large military town after I had gotten out! A gym buddy of mine owned it and they had some pretty big concerts there. So I got to sit at the front on the stage and just watch the crowd and listen to the music until someone came over the barricades! Not a bad gig at all! Got to see and meet Godsmack, Stained, Candlebox, Buckcherry, Bush to name a few. I think it’s proven fact ( at least it is to me, lol ) that you have way more fights in regular nightclubs than stripclubs. Customers run into guys they grew up with and dislike , guys that dated their girl, guys that want to get with their girl, guys that did their sister wrong, played on a different rugby squad etc...To whereas in a stripclub everybody’s there to see the same naked women! Every now and then you’ll get a guy who thinks he’s special and thinks that “ she really loves him and only him” and he’ll get all bent out of shape about it, or some guys get too drunk and try and show off. But most of the problems are jealous boyfriends who haven’t figured out how to deal with their girl being a stripper yet, OR , an ex boyfriend coming in with friends and acting like a fool and making the dancer ( his ex ) feel uncomfortable Or the little punk drug dealers who try to get some ass for some weed! I had dual roles in some clubs, mgr.and security, others just one or the other. Never worked the door ( well, a few times actually) ! Firstly I hated it, lol. Second, I probably would’ve hurt the clubs money, because I didn’t like a lot of nonsense ( code for short tempered ) and to pat down and/or wand someone you always heard a bunch of mouth about it! So, the few times I did on a couple of occasions work the door, I just told problem guys, look if you’re that much problem here at the door, I don’t need you inside the club because we’re gonna have to deal with you then, and it’s just not worth the door fee so just go ahead and leave now! As far as the girls go...we run across ALL TYPES! You’ve got the professional strippers, who do it for a living and don’t care about anything else, they live, eat, sleep and breathe stripping, have a hundred outfits and boots and heels and wigs etc...and will most likely go from that to sex work ( or Walmart, lol ) because they never learned another skill set. These are the girls who hope to meet their future rich husband in the club..Then you have the chicks who are separated from husbands or boyfriends and have a kid (or five, lol) that had to find a way to make money quickly and probably had a friend who talked them into trying it. They don’t really like it but they kind of start to like the attention ( and money ) so they’re still there 5 yrs later talking about quitting, lol !!! Then there’s the very FEW ( I might’ve had 2 at one time in the same club but usually more like just 1 ) who are actually going to college ( like Sooooo many of them claim to be ) and they’re doing it because it’s damn good money and they can work it around school...these usually pick a club in a larger town within driving distance, but not too close to where they actually live or go to School! Hoping not to be noticed by friends or relatives! I had one of these girls dive off stage one night, right into my arms because she saw her uncle walk in the door! I caught her and she hit the floor running in her 5” heels like a damn track star, 😂! Then there’s the hotel skanks! These are the girls who usually live in a hotel and need to make enough to pay for their rooms and are mostly drunks or addicted to something and usually go eat at a Waffle House every night after work and then go to Walmart and spend every dime they made that night! These girls usually have boyfriends who are more sorry than they are and take them to work ( usually on the girls own car ) then they take some of her money and her car and go buy weed or get drunk somewhere else and cheat on them then come pick them up from work at closing...AND YEP, these are one of our biggest problems. Those idiots come back and get in an argument with their girl, she’ll hit him, or he’ll hit her and WE have to deal with it. Sometimes the money just doesn’t seem worth the BS you deal with! Most, not all, clubs I worked at had a policy of NO boyfriends inside the club or sitting in the parking lot waiting for hours! But contrary to public opinion strippers aren’t all dumb. They don’t all tell us they have a boyfriend! We hear the roommate, brother, gay friend, brother in law BS a lot and we have to decipher the truth from the BS. But there are certainly the good times and upside to the job. Meet A LOT OF PEOPLE from all different walks of life. Date ( sleep with ) MARRY (Ugghhh, what an idiot) some of the best looking women around , that most guys watch porn to see or can only come pay to see naked! We have a lot of time for the gym, not to mention the hookups from friends who are bouncing at other nightclubs ( getting in and drinking free ) when we’d go out. It’s kind of like a fraternity...we all know each other ( our girls know each other, they’re usually all bartenders, waitresses or dancers) where we each work, who’s good at the job, who might get you themselves or someone else hurt! Who can definitely handle themselves, and those who “ Think” they can etc...I never had a bouncer job stay vacant for more than a day! I always knew someone that was either looking for a spot or was ready or thinking about leaving the club they were at currently. I fired a guy one night and called a buddy at another club to ask him if he’d be interested, that crazy fool quit right then and came and finished the night out at our club! LOL...I had some fantastic times that I’ll never forget in the different clubs I worked in...some bad times...aggravating times and some downright scary times! Me and this dude could talk for days about our experiences in the “entertainment industry” as we call it, lol. If I have/had any advice for someone considering going to work security or another spot in a nightclub, it would be this! We all started by having to clean up vomit at some point from a urinal, it can’t all be glitz and glamor, and NO ONE deserves to die in a bar fight! And don’t MARRY the dancers!!! That’s mostly for me to remember! LMFAO

Started off working behind the bar in the UK. Then as I filled out and became a pro-fighter and fight trainer I had the confidence, mindset and skillset to work in security - 'bouncer', 'personal', 'guard' etc... but the club scene was definitely - eclectic - at times you never knew what you were going to get. And you bet that everything you stated was standard. In every club environment I worked in, it was the women that usually were the catalyst for issues, and always about ego and manipulation. I never had a personal time of really 'clubbing' as it was always a job. So even if I went out with mates, it was like I was on the job, never really relaxing. It was as if you were a movie director that had the inside working knowledge, so it kind of spoiled many movies you would try and see because you were forever analysing with your movie director tinted glasses. It also made it hard to find fulfilling relationships with women because you were all too aware of what they were REALLY like when the veil dropped and they couldn't hide their true self. You are absolutely correct; the two girls out of 500 in my decades of experience is about right - they are so rare. You are also right that the girls get institutionalised.... but then again, I found so did I :) Thanks for the nostalgic trek....

40 years ago, 63 now, I worked security for a so called talent agent who booked strippers to perform in various clubs. It actually was a good job, no real drama, I would pick up 3 or 4 strippers from their homes, take them to a club and watch over them until they were finished. Then I would drive them all home. Made 100 bucks a night, 40 years ago. Never really had any issues and they were all very pleasant, down to earth girls. Only problems were other so called talent agents trying to muscle in on territory, never amounted to much because the clubs we dealt with wanted quality girls which we had and the other talent agents were more like pimps.

Its just like the strip club the girls would lead on the men thinking they would get some where they would blow all there money week after week . The girls were ruthless and mean, they would not give the men a second look outside the club but inside the kissed up big time. They were Beautiful Girls no dought but gold diggers. Got out of his depth with the drinks, was marched to the cash point and had his account emptied out and sent home. Next day his rather posh mum turns up at the Soho club, found the girl responsible and frog marched _her_ to the cash machine and got her son's money back. I hope the story was true.

VERYY INTERESTING! I was a male dancer (in Florida) years back and everything he is describing is true and similar to the place I worked at. We had to pay a "stage fee" when we arrived too. I treated it like a hair stylist, you made your good money from your regulars and then additional from walk ins (who could BECOME regulars!) My style would be to converse with these often lonely, nice, awkward men, which is what they wanted actually. Just someone to pay attention to them. The other dancers from Latin America who couldn't speak English well had to rely on their bodies and turn more tricks.

I think my ex Girlfriend had worked in a strip club! She admitted to me that she went for an audition and she was an ok ish pole dancer, she did a lap dance for me that was way too professional for someone who claimed to have never actually worked in one. She admitted heavy drinking and cocaine use in her past and that she’d taken a law degree but decided not to practice which i found unbelievable as she couldn’t even read the first 10 pages of Animal farm! She had a totally unrealistic view of money and how a man should shell out for her and how she could drop and dump you really cheaply. She had the behaviour of giving strange men a lewd glance so that they would think they could get some from her in front of me! They could literally have come off a sex offenders wing the previous day so oblivious she was to any danger. She wasn’t interested in any of these men (they were just objects used to boost her self esteem at the expense of mine) and would just walk off leaving me with them. This happened in some isolated areas too and from the things you’ve said in this video i believe she picked this risky behaviour up from working in a U.K strip club where she was used to the protection you speak of. Without me she couldn’t use public transport and had to drive everywhere! None of these things ever happened with another girl i dated and she lived in an area filled with impulsive men over a six year period of me going out with her; and she had many of the attributes those men lust over more than the pole dancer ex girlfriend and no man ever bothered us as she stood by my side and never gave lewd and suggestive glances. Thanks for your insights you shared with us in this video!

The club owner is he embodiment of evil, and he used everyone, men and women, to enrich himself , while humiliating as many people as he can.

@@Leec_1972 lol, it is a little bottish isn't it There are spelling errors though. Now that I read it again, it's even worse than my first ipression. The first sentence. She's not only ignoring the male victims, she is quite fine with it, if the girl is empowered and independent, lol, fleece away. Instead of condemning the whole scene. It's like, for her the criminals are ruining a good opportunity for young women to fleece lonely, depressed men. Bastards.

I'm a former Chippendales dancer and that experience was completely opposite. It was a 2hr choreographed s broadway style stage show with lights and costume changes. It was a legit show. We didnt have to "hustle" for money/tips like the women typically do. Although we would go in the audience between numbers and do what's called "kiss and tips". We'd have security stand by the stage and our dressing rooms in order to prevent women from rushing the stage and sneaking in our dressing rooms. It was a wild time.

Las Vegas had a strip club in Industrial Rd., behind the old Stardust. The cops used to find passed out guys that security had thrown out. Most of the trouble started when guys found out their credit card had been padded, then if they complained, the rough stuff started. A biker had a shop next door to the club, so he was not happy having overflow with some guys tossed over on his property. He was a big fellow and had a few run ins with security at the strip club.

@@GuitaristDog87 Probably. I moved here in 1995 and did most sports betting at the Stardust The guy who owned the motorcycle repair shop was at County Commission meetings complaining many times. The shop was in Clark Co., not the City of Las Vegas. A lot of billion dollar hotels went up, and strip clubs became more expensive and glitzy. The motorcycle shop owner was an ex wrestler and a big guy, who didn't put up with the bouncers on his property.

We had a no pimp rule in our strip clubs. Here in the US if you make the pimp take his hat off, he won’t come in.

It was the thing back in the 70s and 80s about pimps and their hats. It was a respect thing. So they would refuse to take their head off therefore they could not come in.
