I pulled for Melton 15 years ago as an owner op. Things were great until economy started to devour everything along with fuel prices so I had to move on to somewhere else because Bob was not willing to pay more than he was. Very good drivers and staff.

How long did it take you to feel comfortable with with load securement
@ianelbert
28 күн бұрын
It takes a while. Especially when you’re starting out and every load is new and different. I’d say it took me 5-7 months until I was comfortable in most situations

When you are securing, that only cuts into your 14 hr day and not 11 hrs of driving right?

Yes that’s correct 👍

Do you use your iphone maps everytime? I heard its dangerous cause of bridges.
@ianelbert
Жыл бұрын
I do, but if there’s anything I’m unsure about I’ll double check with my atlas to see if the route it gives me is good. Or sometimes I’ll even go on the states d.o.t. Website that I’m in and triple check. I still would recommend getting a truck GPS, but so far I’ve been okay without one. I just have to take extra care when trip planning

@@specccco4428 I use my phone GPS first and cross reference that route with my atlas and the route suggestion Melton sends with each load. And yeah they teach you the basics of how to use an Atlas during orientation

Does Melton help you with your LP permit
@ianelbert
2 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with LP permits. But melton does have a program that will help you get any extra credentials that you can use while working here (Hazmat, TWIC, and passport) those are the only ones I know about, but there could be more that I’m not aware of
