"removed" is a slightly disingenuous title. "Lost" is more accurate. But either way if there was one DLC in this series that lost it's source code, I'm glad it was this one.

@@nobodyfamousX Yes, the DLC was outsourced I recall, when Bioware asked for the source code, it was found that it was mostly corrupted, not enough code to repair. It's also why it's not on the PS3 version if I'm not mistaken, they knew about it then. As remaking Pinnacle Station would have costed an additional 6 months at least, they decided to forgo the idea.

I like the thought of having a planet to myself, all the better if it is an empty wasteland, that means no one will come bother me with galactic politics and laws. Was I the only one who really liked this DLC? The arenas were challenging and fun, and the apartment gives you the best gear in the entire game. Not to mention the view, it's like a Bond villain mansion.

@@th3braz1l1an Yeah, I also enjoyed the DLC a lot and that terminal in the appartment allowed me to get awesome gear for my team. BioWare already knew for years that the sourcecode was corrupted but apparently never bothered (or had the talent) to recreate it. In my opinion they should have spent the 6 months in order to include it as an incomplete edition isn't all that 'Legendary' to me. It's also why I haven't bothered purchasing it and will wait until it's in the bargain bin. I already own the original trilogy and all the DLC. It's still perfectly playable; especially with a few mods. 🙂

Even when when Shepard was working with Cerberus, the Admirals was still giving him intels and secret mission while he could've been a traitor. Agreed. Everyone is bitching over ‘it served no purpose!!’ Yeah, tell that to the hours I have in the combat simulator in mass effect 3. And I kept forgetting you don’t ‘reload’ in Mass Effect 1, so there went my precious grenade supply lol. I’m surprised I made it at Feros lol. I also hate they ‘nerfed’ the credits we got from Mass Effect 1 recently. It’s such bullshit we could earn like 10 million credits, then only get 1mil back already, now they nerfed it all the way down to only a measly 100-300 thousand credits.

@@Norinia YES I ALWAYS FORGET RELOADINGS NOT A THING IN ME1. I wouldn't be so mad if they kept it, cause then I'd have the muscle memory but I replay ME2 a lot (it's my fav of the 3) so my brain is always just 'okay last enemy deal with reload and quick save' and BOOM ALL MY GRENADES GONE.

The button mapping in ME1 was nuts. Those grenades were way too accessible! I’m glad I’m not the only one who was chucking grenades all over the place while trying to holster/reload my weapon.

Damnit Shepard! That medi-gel ain't free! Sorry Shepard, but there's no reward for most times shot! Ugh, watch yourself! That looked like it hurts!

I think the funniest thing about this appartment is imagining Shepard parking the Mako (which is basically a tank) in the driveway like you would park your Honda

It's a damn shame they didn't include it. I know some people think it was an useless dlc, but there was something satisfactory about finding the station again in ME3, evacuating the soldiers you met in there from the reaper infested zone and recruiting them for the war. Also, in was the best way to obtain exp and some cool armor and weapons before the final battle in ME1

One of the best ways to get the best level X gear in the game early

I really liked the fact that you could get the best armor and weapons through the apartment's terminal.

I never knew this existed after all these years….

You can by the X - Gear now on your Ship, no more need to Travel to an Abandoned apartment :)

@@TheHufflepuffSaint pinacle station is pretty much justa combat simulator. personally , i found it enjoyable...but a lot of people wont. the true benefit is the shop u get in your apartment....its by far the easiest way to equip all your teammates with colosus and best amps in the game

Twist: It's a real Retirement Home and Shepard now has to deal with dozens of retirees asking for their medication.

Whoa, your ME1 is so beautiful!

I know that pretty much every other comment points this out, but removed isn't accurate. Pinnacle Station was outsourced to another company, that company went under, and the source code that Bioware had was corrupted. They could put in the time and effort to rebuild it, but that would've taken an extra 6 months according to Bioware, and that wasn't viewed as worth it. I mean, Pinnacle Station was not a popular dlc, and had basically no impact on the game other than having an extra shop and some generic levels. This was probably the least significant thing they could have lost.

I don't really understand that. If the files for the DLC are easily accessed from the game folder for the original ME1, why can't they just copy those assets and rework them to fit into the Legendary Edition? Why is the source code necessary?

@@KoPT01 The code that ships with the game - or in fact any software - is not the original code. It would be in binary, and without a good tool to easily translate that into the programming language they use they would basically have nothing to go on. Somebody in another comment compared it to reconstructing a building. Having the source code is like having the blueprints. What they have is like having pictures of the building. They would basically be starting from scratch.

think back to when the source engine had its source code leaked. Normally, it takes a lot of effort for hackers to figure out how a game ticks since they don't know how it works by itself or how it would react without testing. now with the source code out, hackers can just read about how the game runs and devise some sort of bypass. Of course, anti-cheat would still stop these guys, but hackers would start pumping them out much faster than before until it gets patched.

I never knew you could get this in ME1. I couldn't be bothered with Pinnacle Station cause it was a waste of time, glad they removed it in the Legendary Edition.

At the end of the day if there was going to be any DLC missing Im glad it was this one as its literally the least important to the point I had it (As I just bought all the DLC in the original not paying much attention to what they were) and didnt even realise it included a house.

Imagine having assets for planets like Eletania, and this is what you created for an admiral's vacation home.

It looks like it would be fun to visit once, but then never again. I'm not heartbroken over losing this.

The view is actually not bad. I like it.

The true power of this apartment was that communication station. It was a great way to get high-end equipment. Beyond that the DLC itself was nice. Good old fashioned slaughter.

Oh, so this is how this game used to look... Completely understand the hype for the Legendary edition now

The home allowed you to buy top tier equipment for you and your team. With this home, you become god-like XD... It is a shame they took it out but It was boring to play...

I've still got Pinnacle Station for my original copy of Mass Effect on the Xbox 360. The DLC itself was just padding anyway, and the apartment was crap. The only good thing about all this was the Spectre gear you could buy from the apartment.

It wasn't removed, its code was corrupted/lost.

I unlocked it, but I never went there. Thank you for showing it 😀, too bad it was cut from the Legendary Edition.

I seem to be in the minority here but I actually enjoyed Pinnacle Station and the appartment that came with it (free grenades!). The apparement also contained a terminal where you could pay ships for random shipments. It was the perfect way to get multiple copies of the best gear if you went with the highest option. To me it was really cool seeing my whole squad decked out in Colossus armor. 🙂 Even though the DLC appears to be one of the least liked, I still think BioWare should have tried including it in their 'Legendary' edition instead of wasting their time on camera angles because Miranda's butt was suddenly deemed 'problematic'. So here's hoping that BioWare will someday recreate Pinnacle Station and offer it as a (free) DLC. But who am I kidding; all the talented devs already left and BioWare today is not the BioWare that gave us the Mass Effect trilogy. All they have left are devs that can tweak existing stuff so I don't expect much from them besides making remasters of their old stuff. They also knew that the sourcecode was corrupted for YEARS as it wasn't even included in the PS release. So they had a lot of time to reverse engineer or recreate it but they likely just didn't have the people available with the qualifications to actually recreate it. Everything went downhill with Andromeda and Anthem. To me this 'Legendary' edition was just a cash-grab and I'll wait until it's in the bargain bin. Until then I have my real Legendary Edition; which was the original edition with all the DLCs and mods. It's still perfectly playable even to this day.

...you know what that's actually a good point, where the fuck did Shepard actually live, she couldn't always have been on military ships, did she live at arcturas, earth, a colony, given the things said on the citadel she can't have lived there, so where did she actually live? In this DLC this became her home, and in mass effect 2 her death would've voided all her property so the Normandy would've been her home, then after the batarian relay destruction she was imprisoned on earth, then it was the Normandy again, and in the Citadel DLC Anderson's apartment became hers, but what about pre-mass effect 1, where did she live when she was on mandatory leave for holidays or medical leave? She could be born on earth, mindoir or a ship, but she left earth and mindoir to join the navy, and I doubt she'd ever want to go back to mindoir with that background, so where did she go when she wasn't on the job?

Idk why no-one seems to like it... Personally I always found this little house in the middle of nowhere very cosy for some reason. it's one of my best memories from ME1, for real.

I played Legendary LE1 and I entered that apartment, but you should download pinnacle station that is not includes, but they released it later working 100%

I hope that one day BioWare will be able to add Pinnacle Station. Mass Effect 1's DLCs were pretty small and insignificant, but they were charming. Honestly, they were good DLCs because of it: they were just fun little side missions and not...major story content that makes you feel like you're missing out.

Can we just talk about this guy's apparent hoarding problem?

Even without the Pinnacle Station campaign due to the corrupted code, it would be cool to let Shep have this ME1 apartment - maybe as a reward for saving Terra Nova? Surely a couple rooms, and some goodies therein, as a post-release mini-DLC, wouldn't be too much of an undertaking?

All i see is people in the comments hating on the fact that this is a waste/glad its not in the LE. If its a waste than cool its a waste of time to YOU but i like this look at the apartment from the DLC and will play it on my next run of the OG's :) Thanks synth.

Really hammers home the fact that ME1 was the same set of bland assets recycled thousands of times. I look back and am blown away by how boring ME1 is visually.

This DLC is basically an inferior version of the apartment and the battle arena from the Citadel DLC

It's more like "Unavailable because the original devs were incompetent". This DLC wasn't even available on the PS3 release.

I have this DLC I'll have to load it up on old school ME1 and go here. I don't remember it at all. It's a shame the only existing source for Pinacle was corrupted so it could not be included in LE.

A DLC not included in the new edition is hardly a secret. This is common knowledge, and all Mass Effect wiki sites have an article about it. It was by no means meant to be a secret, and wasn't presented as such in the DLC, as it was a large part of the main reward at the end of the quest line.

I hated that DLC, but loved the apartment.

Seems like Bioware, in their infinite wisdom, realized Pinnacle Station was largely reviled and didn't add it to the Legendary Edition suite. Personally, I enjoyed beating that stuck-up Turian's high scores. Was just nice as an arena-style game. They have something very similar in the Citadel DLC for 3 with the arena arcade thing if I recall.

Nah thats not the reason, it was made by a different company which have since gone under. Bioware have the source code but its completely corrupted and they decided it wasn't worth restoring.

My only issue with losing this is that I dont have a fixed position to refill my grenades anymore. The didn't even add one to the ship which surprised me.

A shame it got lost, never got to play the ME1 DLC, only thing in the saga I missed.

I really did not mater about Pinnacle Station or Shepard Apartment, It was not available in ME3. You could not visits it or go back to The best of the best.

THe dlc was sort of bare in my opinion originally but it being the only thing lost seemed strange. That they had the arsenal arena in citadel dlc well this seemed more a prototype of what that would become.

The only reason I'll miss this is that apartment. The arena stuff itself was meh. And the reason the apartment was handy was the vendor terminal(s)

I know it’s stupid but if BioWare remade the DLC from the ground up for LE I’d buy it it’s just disheartening knowing it’s gone

It's not that it was removed. The source code of the DLC was corrupted. The only way they could have it in the Legendary Edition was to rebuild it from scratch. Which would have pushed back the release date quite a bit. I think they had already changed the release date a time or two and they didn't want to make fans wait any longer for just one DLC

Wonder how did they lose it. There should of been copies just in case stuff like this happens. I liked this DLC over the meteor one since you can get a place for yourself and a lot for exp. from the missions there. Hope they at least put it in ME 3 to add to the numbers. They should be able to do that since it is just numbers added to readiness and just info of the place. Here's hoping. :)

It wasnt "cut" from Legendary Edition. It wasn't included in the base game for the original.

I dont remember how, but the apartment itself is not cut from legendary edition, I still managed to obtain it. Pinnacle station however is very much cut.

I think you're confusing Anderson's apartment in ME3 with this one. Different apartment.

This content wasn't 'cut' bioware lost the original files for the dlc so it was never in the legendary edition.
