You need to include the adjustment range for the arm rests more in depth imo. The single biggest problem with these chairs is that the damn arm rests often will not go low enough to clear the desk, so you can actually get a decent gaming position. Things like Noble and Secret Lab Titan is therefore completely unusable without modifications in my opinion, and I wonder how they could make such huge oversights. Would be great to know if something like this is better.

Appreciate the reviews of this and lots of other chairs. Since I'm also 5'6" and on the somewhat smaller side (currently 152lbs but wider shoulders), I was almost sold on this, then I saw the return policy... Oof, 20% fee on top of paying return shipping. That makes just trying the Neue a much more difficult proposition... Guess I'll need to find an office furniture shop near me and try something there, really too bad since I wanted to try either this or the Titan Evo 2022, but it seems like they're just too risky for me. This one with the fee and the small Titan probably having too much seat depth (and possibly constricting shoulder area?). Thanks for all the info!

@@Prxsumo hey, I ended up with the Sayl, and I'm happy with it. I still wouldn't mind if its backrest didn't go so sharply backwards at the top, but meh it seems I just don't need as much upper back support. So I just sit on the chair with my lower back getting good support and maybe a little bit on my mid back, but my upper back is typically a couple inches forward from the top of the backrest... Which is actually fine. I bought a Steelcase Amia from a local place as it felt great in the showroom, but after a few days in it at home, I returned it. Later, I ordered the Sayl and Embody direct from HM, and I took a while deciding. Ultimately, the Embody, while neat, pushed with hard plastic into my low-mid back and so just didn't feel good. So I returned that (got my full refund) and kept the Sayl. Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks for a through review. A key metric I always look at in other products is the warranty offered. Says a lot about what the engineers have said to the CFO about the product. Herman Miller's 12-year warranty and 30-day refund is pretty strong.

  • @zeta42

Agree. I looked into the warranty on the Neue Chair that Secret Labs uses and it reads: NEUE does cover the following under this warranty: NEUECHAIR: Skeletal Frame, Aluminium Frame, Wheelbase and Polyamide Frame - [12 years] NEUECHAIR: Lumbar Support and Central Mechanism Hub - [5 years] NEUECHAIR: Armrest Mechanism, Casters Mechanism and Gas Lift - [3 years] NEUE does NOT cover the following under this warranty: -Defects in Products purchased through unauthorized resale, remarketing or distribution. -Normal wear and tear including but not limited to the wear and tear or degradation of mesh, top portion of armrests, lumbar pillow, casters exterior, ControlShift™ paddles, variance of tightness of mechanisms. -Damage caused by a service performed by anyone who is not officially acting as an employee, representative or sub-contractor of NEUE. -Any damage to the Products or to any property or person, caused by failure to adhere to NEUE’s published instructions and guidelines, accident, abuse, misuse, water, flood, fire, or other acts of nature or external causes (including, without limitation, use of the Product in unsuitable environments or conditions). -Defects in a Product that has been modified or altered, including the substitution of any unauthorized components for use in place of the original components in the Product. -Defects in a Product caused by failure to use, apply, install, reconfigure or maintain the Product or component according to NEUE’s published instructions. -Minor aesthetic and cosmetic abnormalities or variations which do not affect the functionality of the Product. So the parts that will actually wear out are only on a 3 & 5 year warranty and they have listed enough under the NOT covered clause to reject pretty much any issue you run into. Herman Miller is a 12 year parts & labor on the whole chair, no questions asked. Something to consider for sure.

I have this chair. Bought it after seeing a KZread video raving about it. I wanted to love it, but I just can’t. Maybe for your height it’s great, idk. I am 5’10’’ @ 160lbs. The seat is too shallow even when extended forward (which creates a discomfort in the lower back). Additionally, the arm rests are at a height where they are too far forward to sit comfortably with your arms on them extending to desk and do not lower far enough to pull under the desk (to rest arms on desk). Removing them is not an option because all the functionality of the triggers are integrated into the armrests. I ended up shelling out the money for an Embody. Wish I had known how worth the money Herman Millers were prior to dropping the money on 3 dxracers and the neuechair.

I get that people don't want to spend that much but I'm testing thousand dollar chairs and I'm like yeahhh this is not worth it relative to a HM chair. I ended up with the Aeron due to some MRI work showing that my DX Racer is causing some serious spine compression from my L5 to S1 with slipped disks...... yeah. Great. Anyways, the Aeron has already made improvements on my spine in the few weeks i have had it. I will never, ever, ever, go back to another chair.

FYI, anything that doesn't "click" into place and can lock at *any* angle is likely a friction based mechanism. For a number of reasons, I've found friction based systesm to be a LOT less durable. The clamping hardware in a friction mechanism can stretch or fail over many uses, resulting in a complete loss of locking. Also, if friction surfaces fail for whatever reason, that's also tough. However notch systems tend to require a LOT less maintenance and be a lot more forgiving to wear/tear and a lack of maintenance.

You're often an objective dude in your reviews and say a lot of ahnest stuff, so I'd love to see some reviews from you on some saddle chairs. Some sources claim that they're the healthiest kind of chairs because they emulate the posture of a person when horse-riding, and humans have done horse-riding for uncountable eons, and so on. Also, I would really, really love to see a video where you describe the differences between the Herman Miller Aeron Fixed PostureFit and the Aeron Adjustable PostureFit, because there's a strangely significant price gap between both chairs or options. And there's very little information on the web about the differences (I did try searching several times), so that could be a gap that you can fill when it comes to relevant search results. It would be great to know if it's possible to upgrade from the Fixed to the Adjustable, or does the Adjustable PostureFit has some knob that's built into the base of the seat or what. And thank you, Dan.

First, thank you for spelling "Ahnestly" correctly! Second, I reached out for the Capisco chair but got nothing...I personally wouldn't use a saddle chair, so not sure if I would review one...I can if someone was willing to send one to me for sure! Third - I think you're using incorrect terminology for the lumbar supports. There is the posturefit, which came on the classic aerons, and then the Posturefit SL, which come on the remastered aerons. Both posturefits are adjustable (only in/out). I prefer the classic's posturefit. The posturefit SL comes already installed on a back rest, but i can't for certainty if you can replace the back on a classic aeron.

@@Ahnestly Thank you for responding and explaining all that. Regarding the PostureFit versions that I mentioned, check out this store, which has branches in several EU countries. This is the "fixed PostureFit" version, which costs €1000 new: www.dpj-workspace.com/se/ergonomiset-toimistotuolit/2745-herman-miller-aeron-fixed-posturefit-support-.html And this is the "adjustable PostureFit" version, which costs €1350: www.dpj-workspace.com/se/ergonomiset-toimistotuolit/5361-herman-miller-aeron-adjustable-posturefit-support.html See if you can maybe use the Google Translate extension on Google Chrome to translate the language of the pages, or if you can change the country to an English-speaking one, but the names of the chairs are mostly in English. And after what you said, I'm not sure what that store means exactly by fixed and adjustable PostureFit.

Very late response to this comment, I know, but in my line of work employers almost always give us saddle chairs to use because they're meant to be better for your posture. From my experience they are a bit better but not by much. Now I've only used cheaper shitty ones and most haven't had backrests so I end up slouching a lot but I can say for certain that back support is a way more important aspect to chair design than the saddle. The main advantage of it is that you can go waaaay higher with it and still remain "seated" in the chair because you can just have your legs go basically straight down into a semi-standing position. I'd be intrigued to try an expensive and well made saddle chair with good back support but from my experience there is only a small benefit!

So watching your videos I think I've narrowed it down between this chair (which I didn't even know about) and the Embody. I have the Aeron and don't like it. It's just not a comfortable chair. I think part of the reason is i'm only 130lbs, so it feels too firm for me. So I'm looking for something that's really comfortable and that has a great recline feature or ability to recline a good amount. Between the Embody and the Neue (if price isn't an issue), is there a clear winner? Or is there a situation where you'd prefer one over the other. For example, would one be better for reclining while using a laptop? Or better for reclining w/ some popcorn and watching a movie? Or is more more comfortable for just working at the computer for several hours a day... Your videos are SO GOOD!!! Really appreciate all the time and effort you put into these. Whichever one i get, i'll definitely use your links! :D

I really wish we’d move away from “gaming” chairs and have more of this from these companies, secret lab especially with their ability to design some models with larger people in mind. Need more best of both worlds hitting the mainstream market. I’ve got a staples dexley currently until I can find a good deal on an aeron size c, mesh seats are the way to go until someone can partner with purple or something for proper cushioning.

@@dylanloo9856 Well, the non-gaming Embody is no longer available in the UK, the logitech variant is the only one available. Personally, I'd want the OG Embody with the black balance fabric, since I don't like materials that make me feel too hot.

Really depends on your height/weight! If you're taller (5'11+) or heaver than 160lbs, should check out the Titan. If you're below those, Neue feels amazing!

My 6'1 friend liked the Embody the best, but it's a much more expensive chair....I had a guy comment here who was 6'1 190lbs and he said he was totally fine with the chair. The real gaming chairs are always tricky...some people love it, some people hate it. You might want to check out the Mavix line (just dropped the video) and see what you think of that despite the heavier price tag too!
