Best Gaming Chair or Ultimate Office Chair? Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 vs Herman Miller Aeron

Ойын-сауық

NO WAY A GAMING CHAIR COULD BEAT AN ERGO CHAIR!!!!
...So you say. You've heard that the Aeron is great, but you're also thinking of that sick Dark Knight/DVa/Team Secret chair, or somehow the thought of sitting on a Creeper appeals to you, you're deathly afraid that sitting on a gaming chair will destroy your back... But you're even more deathly afraid that if you spend $1500 on that Aeron which apparently also doubles as God's chair, you're going to be bankrupted for fifteen generations.
Either way, a good chair is a great idea… but which one do you get?

I could do a video comparing Aeron Leap and Secretlab at a later point, and maybe even include the Embody when it arrives - I agree that everyone should test these chairs out and maybe I’m a horrible chair KZreadr (what exactly is a horrible chair KZreadr LOL) because I don’t test any chair before actually buying it usually 😂 That said, sight unseen I would recommend the Leap, Gesture, and OM Truly if people don’t wanna or can’t meaningfully test out the chair and want maximum adjustability - otherwise gotta rely on sizing guides xD

    Thank you for this review! I had been debating on getting a SecretLab chair but I was also cautious because it's a gaming chair because I heard those are worse for ergonomics. It put me at ease that there is benefit to having a SecretLab chair (definitely better ergonomics than my current "gaming chair") but that of course the Aeron is better for that. You pointed out the SecretLab is better for relaxing which would be my main use case for the chair I would get so this has helped me decide on the SecretLab chair. Also the Aeron is wayyy out of my budget :| so luckily my use case fits better when it comes to the SecretLabs chair.

    Hey Karl! I own one and use it as my work chair! I exclusively use my Titan for gaming and meditation though! Embody has no headrest and hence it’s a bit difficult to recline comfortably - the sacral support is fantastic, but it’s not suitable for engaging with content while reclining or for media consumption over a long period of time, in my opinion - definitely prefer Titan over that! For work though, Embody remains my preferred choice by a small but deciding margin :)

    @@alexworm1707 Wowww! I didn’t even think about that! Thank you for sharing Alex! 🤯 To add to that (and I think this wasn’t in the video), I’ve also heard that it just allows for a different pattern of stress migration relative to the standard (non tilted) position that the chair is in - pain is a consequence of stress being locally restricted to a particular area of one’s body over long periods of time, and the tilt I’ve heard helps to migrate that stress periodically in a different fashion, which then helps to fix back pain.

    I had the takeaseat sail mesh chair in year 2018..used it about 2 years, then sold it away, upgraded to a few other chairs like secretlab, royale, herman miller aeron classic and finally the herman miller aeron remastered. The bad thing about the sail is firstly the mesh don't feel as premium as the aeron's. Another major downside is that the sail has this front foam pad underneath the front lip of the seat. After my 2 years of usage, my sail chair has trapped dust in between the mesh and the foam and there is no way to clean it unless u rip put the foam pad underneath the seat. It gives a whitish dusty look and it happens at the front lip of the chair where the pad is. The herman miller aeron remastered probably has forsee this issue with mesh chairs thus they do away with the foam pad underneath. The aeron remastered has a tension based mesh that is very firm at the front lip area, thus the mesh won't sag down at that that area. The other parts of the mesh has lesser tension that allows the mesh to conform to your body while certain parts of the mesh like the front lip area is tension up tight. You can google it. It is called the 8z pellicle with 8 mesh zones with different tension strengths

    Secretlab or ergotune from Singapore?

  • @VictorTan

    @VictorTan

    2 жыл бұрын

    I haven’t tried the Ergotune chairs yet! I’d be interested to do so though - there are several good reasons to choose it, though I wouldn’t personally pick that over say a Leap or Gesture at the moment, which incidentally I prefer the Titan over on some levels, i.e. the reason I might purchase a Titan over a Leap, in the state of the world where I did not have both. Apart from mesh, the chair does seem to have certain desirable adjustable features not present on SL, such as synchro tilt, backrest height, and seat depth adjustment. On the level of an apple to apple peer chair comparison, I would say that the most similar chair I’ve seen to this is the Steelcase Think, which has all the above mentioned features but no backrest height adjustment, which from what I can see works in a similar fashion to that of the OM Truly and is accordingly subject to the same problems when you raise the backrest as it is impossible to get it to max height and requires you to adjust and ‘tune’ (lol) manually if you want to have it fit you. The armrests are the most questionable part of the chair, as reviewer Shawn Koh has observed. All told, looking at the chair and its features, it looks like a solid buy, but I wouldn’t say that I would pick it over Secretlab as the chairs are too different albeit sight unseen, Ergotune might be a better buy because of the adjustability. That said, please take everything I’ve said with a pinch of salt! I haven’t personally tried the Ergotune chair, but I hope to when I eventually visit Singapore - and hopefully, I’ll also get to try the Secretlab Neue when I do pop by ^^ Also haha, looks like they have the same name for their headrest as a certain company composed of ex HM designers cited at 11:01…

    @@athenaallen6119 Mesh isn’t bad, but I would say that Aeron is one of the best choices if you’re going for a good mesh chair. I’m not sure about Ergotune specifically and I would try to see if I personally know someone who’s used the chair for long durations of time, though frankly speaking Secretlab does also have its problems - peeling of the leatherette, discoloration of the fabric… though things do wear down over time. Of this subset of things I think a Softweave secretlab chair would probably suit you best… unless you’re going for say an Aeron, which I can see from hundreds of different topics and pages about this chair, suggest that it’s one of those things that pretty much just remains in pristine condition no matter what.

    I got both, Victor is right, switch things up, the Titan 2022 is truly a remarkable chair, I can say that with confidence as I have both the SL Titan EVO XL 2022 and a Remastered Aeron size C fully loaded. Both awesome chairs, the lumbar function on the Titan absolutely does the job. They are simply two different beasts. I will say, the Aeron does demand a more proper posture, but you just feel like your sitting on a cloud, but you're sitting on that cloud *properly*! The mesh seat is airy, I can barely tell I'm sitting on it, and I found myself almost falling asleep in the Aeron it's that comfortable, it is a Next Level Chair, I sometimes figure I'll just never get out of it - ever. The SL Titan, can cross both worlds, but doesn't rock out the posture the way the Aeron chair does. I was contemplating getting rid of one of them, then figured I'll keep both - they're both great chairs!
