SECRET BAIT FOR SURF FISHING? Diet Pepsi Soaked Shrimp

Legend has it that soaking your shrimp in Diet Pepsi will cause a reaction that fish can’t resist. The bait changes consistency, color, and scent. Fishermen have insisted for years that this trick produces more fish, but are the legends true? I’m ready to find out for myself! Have you tried this before? Comment below!
This week, I am fishing on a beach in Florida I’ve never been to before! I’m here with Erin, her sister, Emma, my mom, and my dad! I’ve got my Diet Pepsi Shrimp concoction as well as fresh shrimp and my very own Shrimpy Bits to try out! Let’s see which one I catch the most fish on!

I'm a new subscriber, and this is my second video from you. I've been saltwater fishing for...let's say more than a couple decades, and I love your openess to trying new baits and teqniques, and especially reminding people the importance of keeping unwanted/un-needed plastics out of our oceans. Your personality is great, and you don't come off like a know it all like some of the others I've seen with their own channel. Stay humble, keep fishing, and keep teaching us new things! I can't wait to watch more of your videos to see what I haven't learned in all these years, even though my success has been great, it can always be better! Thanks for the vid and the interesting info on diet Pepsi. It may not have made much difference as far as the fish were concerned, but it could make for an interesting dish with the right ingredients and side dishes....FISH! lol Take care and be safe.

Exactly!! My Dad, "Pop", taught me how to fish, first in fresh water, and then salt water. In his later years, it was me taking HIM fishing...just the two of us like it was when I was young. He's passed on now, but it was Father and son times that I'll never forget. Definitely priceless memories! For any Dad's out there who fish and have kids, especially a son or more, take the time to take them fishing. You'll never regret it, and they'll never forget it. Life moves so fast that we tend to forget the simple things, the most important things, and before you know it, time has slipped by, and it's too late to have a "do over". Do it right the first time and leave nothing TO regret with your kids. Just sayin'

Little secret for you.... Pompano LOVE the Shrimp heads!! Never throw them down or away. Put them on your hook! Yes.... you Can't cast as far as with a tougher shrimp... but the Heads of shrimp get hit Almost as quickly as sand fleas do! No joke! I learned the Heard way! I had ran out of my shrimp and only had heads left in my bag, so started using them! And to My Surprise, they were Slamming them quicker than they were the actual shrimp bodys! Maybe because of the juices it releases vs the shrimp bodys.

I have been using Diet Pepsi Soaked Shrimp for years. This is we do it in NE Florida, prep the shrimp to your choice, then place the shrimp in the DP for about 15 minutes before using, not over night it will make the shrimp soft if you leave the shrimp in it to long. One last tip we only use it in cold weather when the water is below 65 dergrees

We caught some like that in Florida when we moved there, and as newbies we had no idea what kind of shark they were, but the marina owner said they were shovelhead sharks. Idk, but they were damn good eatin'. I'm planning on a trip to the NC coast right after Labor day just to fish a few days. I know laws have changed concerning sharks, but can or can't you still fish for them if it's not commercial? I've seen so many people catch them, and just leave them on the pier to die, or beat them to death and throw them back in the ocean, doing nobody anygood. A simple Google search would work, but I'm kinda over Google

Nice Gulf Kingfish aka: Whiting. Here off the East Coast of Florida we catch both the Southern Kingfish which is more dark in color and does not have the black tip on its tail.Whereas the Gulf Kingfish are bright Silver with the black tip on its tail. Both of these fish are commonly referred to as Whiting and are both delicious to eat. The 'Kingfish' name is not to be confused with the King Mackerel species of fish which is an entirely different species of fish. Good video.

Watching your videos has got me thinking. I love sesame chicken but, because most places fry it, it's not good for me so I don't eat it very often. But, the way some restaurants prepare it the chicken can be fairly tough. It will probably stay on the hook as well as dead shrimp and the sauce with the sugar and red color may attract fish. It's worth trying some time. Maybe try soaking shrimp in the sauce used in sesame chicken or orange chicken.
