Apollo did a couple EVAs from the hatch, including the deep space ones on the way back from the moon, and Apollo had no airlock either.

Hey all. I live in Australia and have got all of the starship flight patches, I have no hope of ever meeting one of y’all and getting an original NSF patch to complete my collection. When can I expect to see them on the shop? I would love to get one with my next order for IFT5
I'm a bit worried about the backup for this Eva. If anything fails, they won't have a sealed capsule to get home. They won't have iss to get to. They won't have iss docking kit anyway. That airlock HAS to work or we will lose,most importantly 4 people and latterly a lot of confídence in human space flight. They need another capsule up there just minutes away.

Any leak is going to be tiny and due to fibers coincidentally laying on the redundant seals. This is not disastrous.
