I was some form of libertarian/conservative for almost ten years and was initially influenced by Sowell. Glad that you and others are challenging his work because I think he is really popular.

The problem with Thomas Sowell's extremely rigid brand of Libertarian Market Fundamentalism is that so many of his premises and conclusions rely on hypotheticals instead of empiricism. Unlearning Economics did a video on his book Basic Economics. His book should be called Basic NeoLiberal Economics. One of the biggest flaws is how in his book Sowell downplays market failures. In his only mention of market failures he only talks about it for 40 words.

​@@anthonyesposito7 A lot of neo liberals weren't really market fundamentalists or doctrinaire libertarians, they were interested in markets as a way of shaping public behavior. There is a belief in markets for sure but particularly as a technology of social control.

Thomas Sowell does NOT favor Jim Crow. He DOES NOT say that Jim Crow is innocent disparity.

It's a whole episode, but the discussion of the Sowell article is the main event. Starts at about 53 minutes and goes to the end of the episode.

Thomas Sowell's critique of Donald Trump was clear. Dr. T. Sowell talked about Trump after President Trump served. It was a matter of the brand-name, capital "P", Progressive political policies, that are ill-liberal anti-social policies. That is, I DO NOT speak for Thomas Sowell. It is that Trump was not as ill-liberal and anti-social as capital " P" Progressive policies.

In the final few minutes... one claims that sowell, despite empirical evidence, claims that free market capitalism is the only solution... then he credits post 1950 American economic boom to the social programs in the USA. What?!?! Capitalism made America the champ... not social justice in post 1950. Yall get 1/10

These guys claim that Sowell can't even imagine it even a possibility that capitalism could be improved... I say you guys can't even begin to understand sowells world view. His view is less, of what they claim, that the strong thrive and the weak do as they must... sowells view is more... the weak are the most comfortable people in the history of the world.... they have A.C, cell phones, internet, heat, cars, fancy cloths, and food cards... the weak in this country are richer that 99% of the world
