45:25 “free online, check it out”, for some reason that made me laugh 😆 thank you for the great podcast Dr D. I’ve had a couple of cases of selenosis from excess supplementation.

I’m also fascinated by seasonal shedding! It sets back progress that’s been made in the first half of the year. I experience it myself usually around end of September to about December-January, peaking around November. I examined most of the shed hairs under the microscope and they were mostly telogen bulbs with some catagen ones. I only started to notice it after I had kids about 10 years ago. Always likened it to molting in animals but it’s always confused me, I would’ve thought the body would want to preserve hair for better insulation in preparation for the colder months. Funnily enough, when I’ve lived in tropical countries, I have hardly experienced excess shedding without obvious causes (like illness, surgeries, or stress). My best hair months tend to be February to June-July. I’ve also noticed TE with excess zinc, similar to selenosis.

What is the hairloss induced of selenium toxicity? Telogen effluvium? And what happens if someone is still toxic on selenium can hairloss be permanent or scarring due to selenium?
