Let me no longer hurt! Let me no longer weep! Dai-gonarthis! The Black Fisher holds my sorrow and consumes it! It just occurred to me that this might be related to Moash: these are thoughts from his perspective. We know that he regained his ability to feel at the end of RoW, when the tower was "turned on". We also know that even the most powerful Fused were incapacitated under that influence. That might mean that even Unmade could be forced to leave the tower or influence at that moment. I doubt that Odium personally controlled such flow of emotions, even though Moash names it as "Odium's gift", but it is still totally possible. Nevertheless, this Death Rattle can be explained in such way.

I've thought for a while that if Odium isn't directly controlling (consuming) Moash's feelings, then Dai-Gonarthis is almost certainly what's being used.
This was super atmospheric, nicely done. The Death Rattles are some of the grimmest ideas Brandon has put to page, especially given that twisted hospital scene at the end of the Way of Kings. I'm not sure why people say he can't write dark stuff?

I really feel like you’re on to something. And even if you aren’t, exploring the death rattles more closely is super interesting!
Watching your very well-researched videos, I feel like I read an entirely different series. Love your channel - you're very likeable, soothing voice, high-quality content, great lighting and beautiful editing. Keep it up! :)

This was so epic! I'm working on a video on the Unmade actually, so this was very fun to watch! Looking forward to seeing the future episodes! (Also since the next SA novella will be from Rock's perspective, we may see some more Moelach action)

Good point about Rock! Hopefully we get some more info there. Good luck with your vid mate.
Another great video, still can't wait to see where this goes. I still find it strange that both the readers and in world characters are still unsure as to if Dai-gonarthis is one of the unmade while the other eight are pretty much guaranteed.
I love the implication at 1:17 that skyeels sound just like seagulls XD. Great video!
I’m so excited to see where this series goes! When I read the death rattles the first time I just kinda skipped over them bc I had no idea what was going on. It’s great to get to revisit them like this

I really like your in-depth look at the death rattles. I definitely agree that the Unmade will play a big role in the future and I am especially excited to learn more about Sja-Anat and Ba-Ado-Mishram. It will be so cool to see your conclusions and theories in the next videos!
Love how well it was edited, and the atmosphere you created was very fitting!
This is such a cool video series well done. I can't wait for more :))
I actually re-read the Way of Kings recently, and I though that the death rattle from 9:53 was talking about Syl, maybe scartching her eyes means that her and Kaladin break the oath that bonds then like the old radiants for some reason. And the daughter Kings and Winds refers to the Stormfather who in Alezkar they call Jerezehe (or something like that) wich an old name for Jezrien I think.
The Death Rattles and the Unmade are some of the creepiest stuff in Stormlight. They're so mysterious and ominous.
Such amazing nuggets you’re mining!! I read through these beloved books so fast I know missed a lot. These videos make me long for more of the story.
I just finished RoW recently and was so disappointed in the lack of Stormlight lore content on youtube. Thanks for making these!

I was super excited when i saw the title, but then immediately got kind of sad because i'm currently at like 67 % of Oathbringer. I guess i'm going to have to wait a little bit more until i'm completely up to date with stormlight (don't worry though, because my Rhythm of War hardcover it's currently on its way and i'll probably be able to read the few cosmere books i have left to read before it arrives, in about a month i'll probably be completely done) Still decided to come give my support. Dude, you're videos are always an instant click for me. I feel like Cosmere lore videos are rare on KZread, and I'm always chomping at the bit for them. Especially ones as well researched as yours! Side note: I always thought the daughter of kings and winds who scratches out her own eyes will refer to Syl. Maybe as a future big plot point in the story. She's the daughter of the storm, and deadeyes are described as having scratched out eyes. What makes me think you're right tho, is that Syl isn't a vandal, she's just kind of rebellious, so that definition doesn't really work. Also, she's not the daughter of a king (at least by the human definition). Ash is a vandal, and daughter of the herald of windrunners. Don't completely understand the scrached out eyes, though. She usually destroys the entire piece of art of her.
@LostinDiscovery
3 жыл бұрын
I think this one is meant to keep us guessing to an extend. Although, Ash is also known for scratching out eyes of herself and other Heralds. I believe we see her work on a mural Lift sees in Edgedancer :)
@VoidLantadd
3 жыл бұрын
You know, Ash is the obvious choice for this death rattle-but maybe she's too obvious. Could be a red herring to distract us from Syl. Your theory makes a lot of sense, you could be onto something!
I'm a new subscriber. Love the content thus far, though I think the last rattle could be interpreted a different way. Taln seems the obvious choice, because he's the one being tortured on Braize, but I keep getting stuck on the word "madness". All the torture descriptions are of burning and pain, and I don't think Taln even knows he's the only one who returned. At any rate, all the Heralds are mad in some way but the one that sticks out as barely functional mad is Jezrien. If all the Heralds are connected, maybe he has been semi-secretly trying to syphon off some of the other Herald's madess for the past 4K years. The last part "Oh, Almighty, release me." seems important as well, because of what Moash did to him, quite literally releasing him (and all the Heralds) from the Oathpact. Anyway, just an idea I had. Keep all the great content coming!
A little bit! A little bit curious he says!
10:25 Tellenel, also known as the MVP

And perpendicularities are a way to travel throughout the Cosmere.
Great episode! I hope Hoid becomes a villain It would be a mayor WTF moment
Are you sure the death rattle is of shalash? I thought it could easily be syl becoming a deadeye, possibly of her own will?
Has anyone ever looked at the final words of various characters who have died in the series. Curious if any hidden death rattles exist?
Just realised, nine unmade, nine Ringwraiths, Sanderson got his inspirations from the right place.
@carlsmith4568

I think it has to do with the general importance of the number "10" in the Rosharan system. One less than ten. Just how the Fused only have access to 9 of the 10 surges.

The death rattle "the burdens of nine become mine" etc. was a prediction of Talenelat finally breaking under the torture, not a glimpse of the past.
