The thing is, i feel like Khamzat underestimated his own ground game. He took burns down easy but he didn’t want to be on the ground with him because he was afraid of getting submitted. That’s sad because that leaves us with a question. What would actually happen if Khamzat went to the ground with burns and kept him there. My opinion is that he could’ve finished him a lot more easily

I think part of it was he realized how much energy it was going to take to hold Burns in the positions he wanted to. Khamzat usually looks to submit or tko guys on the ground as fast as possible, but obviously burns can put some work in off his back.

Normally, Wrestling and top-control nullifies BJJ. I knew that would be the scenerio ever since Charles was finishing contenders left and right and was even being proclaimed of beating Khabib. But Islam/Charles proved my point, nothing much Charles could do with Islam on top smashing in his face (Like Khabib vs RDA). Khamzat could've followed the same and steady gameplan too, but his ego got in the way🤷
