SCUF Reflex PS5 Pro Controller Review

Ойындар

I guess this is a PS5 Pro controller review of sorts, although this title's gonna get real awkward if a PS5 Pro ever manifests. The short story is Elden Ring was killing my index finger thanks to claw gripping all the time. The longer story is I bought this exorbitantly expensive SCUF Reflex controller to help with that. Having now spent a couple of months with it over hundreds of hours I feel better about doing a video on it. So, here's what you can expect from the SCUF Reflex and when I would (and wouldn't) recommend it.

2:03 - What's in the Box and Aesthetics
3:08 - SCUF Reflex Functional Differences

I just bought a SCUF Reflex Pro and I LOVE it! I totally agree that the average casual gamer is not likely to get the extra value out of it to justify the premium cost. I personally feel that I am getting the added value over the cost of a standard dual sense. My only gripe is one you mentioned about not being able to charge it in the charge cradle. I've considered removing the two middle paddles just for this, but running another cable to charge it is such a non-issue. Also, you didn't mention that the battery is absolutely amazing. The SCUF lasts around 2 times as long as any of my standard dual sense controllers, and that cable I mentioned earlier can just be plugged in to continue past that point in the rare case that you play longer than the battery lasts.

Mine just arrived yesterday. The d-pad feels like it is sticking and the right arrow misses a lot of light input. It requires a lot more force than the other buttons. Is the rubber membrane supposed to feel the same (as firm) as the DualSense? I really want to give it a shot if this isn’t the case, and considering a replacement/repair and don’t want to eat the 15% restock fee if they don’t deem this as a defect. What are your thoughts?

After a couple of months, the left trigger started sticking when I pressed it. I took it apart and a tiny piece of foam had fallen off and the glue underneath was causing the sticking. I always think the DS5 is a problematic controller. The L1 and R1 are not on an equal level anymore which means all PS1-2 and Xbox games are harder to play. Many PS3 and 360 seem to have genres and game types which need fast L1 and R1 presses. Additionally going away from symmetrical layout to an "ergonomic" one quick time events and games with Tank-Control and or old gameplay will be way slower to play and master. Is the DS5 a bad controller? Dpad is bad, face buttons are not as good as the og xbox s and 360 controller. DS3 has issues but flaws are hard to find and DS4 really won the dualshock perfection. DS5 would have been a good controller if it would have retained the symmetrical dpad and right buttons.

I hadn't considered tank controls but you're right! Historically I'd always preferred Sony's controllers but I rather like the feel of the DS- particularly the L1+R1 buttons because I don't generally like a lot of 'clickiness' in my presses.
