"Keep your distance!" 😄.Them breaking him at the end was always the cherry on top.
When I feel like laughing I come here to watch the classic SCTV comedy skits! John Candy is a legend! RIP. 🌹 March 4, 1994.
I used to watch SCTV all the time when I was a teenager. It was great coming home late at night stoned. I was amazed they all became big stars.

@uni blab to be honest I agree. I am personally entertained more by this show as a whole vs the total body of SNL. Obviously Eddie, Belishi and a others mentioned became icons individually and has some the best body of work SNL or any show ever aired but in the grand scheme I like this show better.

@Jim Are you on crack? SCTV was 10x funnier than SNL, especially SNL in the 80's. SCTV was clever and intelligent humor. SNL was trying to hard to be hip and topical and ended up being boring

My husband Bob worked on SCTV for 3 years. This was one of the best skits.

Just Martin Short's face starts me laughing before he even says anything.
This was norm's inspiration for the snl jeopardy skit, and he did the courtesy of calling eugene levy and getting his permission to do the sketch. Class act
A circuit court judge and a professional hockey player! lol I had trouble typing, as I was laughing so much!!

John Candy. You always make me smile! RIP legend.
Alex Trebek said that while he enjoyed Will Farrell on NBC's Saturday Night Live, his favorite parody of himself was Eugene Levy as Alex Trebel.
Rest in peace, Mr. Flaherty
Martin Short was one of my favorite guests when he did Letterman. His book is an excellent read. A comedic genius.

We actually had those vinyl seat covers in the 70s. Made for miserable sitting in all seasons, but they kept the seats clean by-golly.
This is 1000 times better than anything on SNL
An ocean of talent here. A contingent of this level won't be seen again.
This is hilarious. U dont see stuff and personalities this funny today. R.I.P. the great John Candy.
When I was a kid I was allowed to stay up late on weekends and watch this... I thought it was funny, but now I just watched it again today for the first time and I was howling so loud I had to pause it twice cause I LITERALLY FELL OFF MY SEAT laughing so hard and now I have a headache for the rest of the night... Damn that feels good... Canadiana at it's VERY BEST!! Mocking in a fun way our American counterparts - who invented practically Everything... and although we are not as successful we find a way to have a laugh in our own way.. this is SHEER BRILLIANCE from the BEST of the BEST comedians in this country in the 70's.. If you think of it from an ACTOR's standpoint even these characters are SO GOOD! So rich, believable, etc.. it's hard to believe just how Awesome SCTV was in those days - in this skit alone there are Multiple levels of comedy!! Just looking at the face's of Martin Short, John Candy, Andrea Martin... they NEVER BREAK CHARACTER! And another thing: comedy done RIGHT is NOT POLITICAL!! They didn't need to create a whole damn show called, "we hate the president so we're just going to bitch about him for this whole episode!!"

Not did any other major network comedy show, tho.
Great show from my youth. Plenty of talent on this shown. R..I.P. John Candy, Harold Ramis and Tony Rosato.
SNL clearly took the concept of this improv sketch comedy skit and ran with it in the future. Gosh I miss The Second City in the windy city! It was so genuinely entertaining and funny. FUN FACT... John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Fred Willard, Catherine O'Hara, Shelley Long, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Mike Meyers, Tina Fey, Chris Farley, Amy Poehler, Tim Meadows, Steve Carrell, Stephen Colbert, Alan Arkin, Harold Ramis, Peter Boyle, Jim Belushi and Joan Rivers are all THE SECOND CITY ALUMNI! Rest in peace John Candy, he was the funniest human comedian ever. While having the biggest heart in the room, he was extremely genuine, humble and grateful and always prioritzed his family first. Miss Uncle Buck! Yosuke Seattle / Tokyo
Sctv wasn’t broadcast in my area as a kid but a family friend sent us like 20 hours of recorded episodes. We wore the tape out lol! Formed my sense of humor!
