Thanks for the look at scribing. I am more excited seeing this video. You mentioned purchasing upgraded items from NPCs beyond the base. Could you expand a bit on that? Is this a crown purchase only type of thing?

You buy the abilities and scripts from an NPC for gold and more become available as you progress the scribing quest

Any idea where the scribing material (Luminous ink?) comes from?

I think Scribing will open the doors for variety of setups for support roles, right now it's so boring and monotonous for all support roles to run the same sets/setups on every class, will be interesting to see if Class Mastery will impact DDs more or PvP compared to Tanks/Healers.

Good info. quick question: you didn’t mention anything about customizing the colors of certain abilities and skills. Does that go for pretty much everything or did they not talk about that?

To be honest there's not much to talk about that they didn't mention already. You unlock the spell customisation in game and so far I'm not sure how. Then on the skill menu, you just press on an icon next to the skill to change between the styles

Well… I’m not sure about that, the Frost Staff still holds a lot of importance

The one and only most important question is, do I have to use destruction staff as a tank? From a nerd perspective, I want my tank not to have to use any kind of magicka. 😢

Grimoires are basically just the base spell/ability. You’re able to place these on your skill bar as an active skill and customise them however you like. There’s no restriction other than the weapon skills requiring you to have the weapon equipped, the same as it is already when using weapon skills

Scribing is aimed at all classes and there are "Class Scripts" but these are the same effect on all of the Grimoires/Base Skills and I don't believe any of them had anything to do with summoning

Do you know if you could only have one grimoire on your bar at a time? or multiple?

Is there an optional ability to NOT skip the long quest on alts? I actually like replaying quests and would honestly rather play through them than skip them.

Currently nothing for Werewolf - the system is wide open however. From my understanding if Scribing is something that players love and use a lot then we can expect more abilities added to other skill lines in the future.

Would actually be really nice to get an ability that can be scribed for a Werewolf. At least for a Werewolf Tank it would be nice to have a Taunt/Pull/Other utility I am all for it!

99% damage reduction with cooldown? Early comment, so I'm waiting for more info, but if it's a time span or single hit would be interesting to mess around with. Guarantee if it's a time span of like... 5 seconds I'm gonna stand in Yolnahkriin fire blast on vSShm for shits and giggles.

It was like 0.5s uptime then 10s downtime when I looked at it so would require perfect timing but its likely going to change for PTS

I just wish they would add aoe tanking. Even if it's only a 5 second taunt or something.

If it was ever going to be added we would already have it by this point I think. The fact you can comfortably and easily Tank without it because of Void Bash and Crowd Controlling and now with Scribing adding more pulls & AoE pulls, it’s safe to say we should never expect to see AoE taunting

They did have an aoe taunt. Tormentor set with templars explosive charge ability but they changed the set last patch so it doesn’t aoe taunt anymore 😞

Zos just hate aoe taunts, they want the single taunt gameplay for choices in targets. Annoying as i know i would probably play my tanks a bit more if i had one, maybe scribing sorts it out

Hoping they don't break too much. It seems that there is some very OP choices that can be made for each. I wonder if base abilities will be stronger than these new skills because they can be tailored to boost overall damage.

From what I could understand from playing with the system it seemed reasonable in terms of balance. There's no "mega OP" damage skills for DDs, it seems very good and friendly for support role players and it more bridges the gap between classes making them more accessible. But that's just one perspective and we'll see how it's all developed once it hits the PTS

You only have to do that once then you basically unlock everything in 10mins on other characters

Nothing will change No meta will change It will be all the same skills sets used You might get 1 just 1 op scribe skill to sell the expansion and once update 43 arrives it will be nerfed. I dont know why people think otherwise .

Oh boy! More things to become the new Meta.....more things for me not to have...the less i'm likely to be allowed into a group instance.....I'm so excited.....NOT Don't get me wrong, it all looks interesting, but without a guild to run this stuff - i have no access to any of it, regardless of buying the chapter.

@@TheTankClub trial sets for a start. I don't have the 'meta' as it is. Try pugging....as tank in a trial you don't know....ah nope. I'd be kicked straight up. I run pearleascent and powerful assault on a redguard dragonknight......i'm not good enough for elitist groups. At least in my guild before the founder gave up, we went into stuff and tried it - no matter if we weren't optimised. I don't have that anymore.

Fair enough I get you. Lets say the new Tank set becomes "meta" that doesn't mean you can't do anything without it. We're at a stage now where there's a handful of Tank sets that are good and not enough space to run them all. It just gives us more possible options, with some of them being better for newer players and others for higher tier groups.

This is why i won't pug as a tank. No encouragement, no mentoring, just flack for making what i have work for me. So much for any race/class/role bullcrap.

6 hours isn't a lot but considering this is just a quest to unlock one tiny bit of the chapter and everyone will need to do it to access scribing it was quite long. But for people who love the lore and questing its not long at all, it's a really interesting and enjoyable quest.

@@TheTankClub Yep, am indeed looking forward to this one. Build variety in ESO is poor right now, with people essentially slotting the same skills whatever the class, so hopefully scribing will shake things up a bit.

Vacuum skill and AoE Immobilize... So AoE pull and CC is all cool, but AoE taunt just HAD to be done away with...

Is there any kind of group taunt. having to taunt multiple npc is tiresome.

It would be horrible, because the fun of tanking is threat management as a group. If you can just universally taunt, then you may as well spam that, permablock, and sip a cup of tea while the healer spams heal on you and the DD spams their chosen AoE. Tanking's not hard in ESO as it is, AoE taunting would kill it.

There’s no group taunt. Skills that have “multi-target” don’t have access to a taunt at the same time sorry!

I can see your angle but you're not gaining a significant advantage with Scribing - at least it didn't seem that way during testing. If they don't add interesting stuff to the chapters there's no point in buying them. This year is Scribing, last year we had Arcanist and the 2 years prior to that there was absolutely nothing interesting and very little reason to bother buying the chapter unless you wanted the new zone.
