UPDATE: The May 6 PTS patch notes say: ***the cost of the Grimoires sold has decreased for the first character, and will be substantially cheaper (or free?) for subsequent alts. ***Additionally, alts will only have to do the FIRST of the Scribing quests to unlock the system, not the first two.

Oh, you're gonna love the achievement furnishings on Call the Scamp. :)

Mage's Guide quest was one of the best ethical challenges in any game I've experienced. If one pays close attention, looks for the clues, one may realize that their preconceptions about the characters are wrong, and that their needs and intentions are complicated. There are very few characters in TES who are simply hero/villain/victim. At first it seems aggravatingly unfair that "doing the right thing" denies the player an extra skill point, but getting that skill point is actually a reward for carefully observing everything in the quest line.

I love that story, and I love it for how complex it is. Hard, un-obvious choices like that are the soul of Elder Scrolls. And I think you are 100% correct, tho I've had heated arguments with friends who felt the other way. But that in and of itself shows the beauty of the story-telling. I want to say so much more, but: spoilers. :) Enjoy the Scribing questlines - I'm sure you'll find joy in the details! (Again: spoilers are killin' me here, lol.)

Most of my toons are still wearing Mother's Sorrow, so I feel ya. Otoh, MS works fine for most overland, and w/skill styling all the alts will finally look they they were always supposed to look... which I care more about than 125K+ dps, tbh.😂

Thank you, very informative - and will likely save a lot of frustration 🙂 I bet the forums will still be full of infuriated responses from players who didn't do the scribing quests first demanding ZOS to 'fix' drops of those rare mats because they're not getting any while doing quests, events etc 😛

Glad it was helpful! Honestly, a big reason I go to the PTS is just preparation. There's so much content now, I need a game plan or I get overwhelmed, lol. That's why I started doing the rewards videos - it's a coping mechanism.🤣

I might have missed it but are these grimoires account wide or am I going to have to spend 600,000 each on 12 characters ? They can shove it were the sun don't shine if so :P I saw all other things look account wide :) Cheers .

You're not the only one to have that feeling, lol. MUCH feedback was given. The day after I posted this, ZOS made a forum post addressing fan concerns about the grind w/multiple characters. As I understand it, Monday's PTS update will have new prices for the grimoires - it'll be lower for the 1st purchase, and WAY lower, or free?, for alts. As soon as I know for certain, I'll pin a comment w/the info.

--Right now there are no Skill Styling options for class skills, no. The full list of options is (or "will be" for console) under your Collections tab> Appearance> Skill Styles. --No styling options for light/heavy attacks, darn it. I'm hoping we get that in the future. --All of the Skill Styles in Gold Road unlock via Gold Road content, so you won't have any of the relevant achievements already. Sadly.

if i try to finish all the scribing quest none stop how many hours do you think it will take?

Hm. I was in there over 10 hours, but I was listening to every line of dialogue, reading books, messing w/the Scribing altar, etc. If you click through the quest text and don't stop to look around, you can probably get through it all in 2-3 hours. The quests are great, though, so if you like listening to the game quests, I'd plan on at least 5 hours.

There's a tutorial within the quest that walks you through actually doing Scribing. I just sketched through enough to introduce the vocabulary, but other videos out there go into actual Scribing in a lot more detail; they might help. But I think once you're in it it will make more sense. I was trying to avoid spoilers and focusing on how to prep, rather than explaining the system.

What kind of quests.
