So when they said that it will not be the next Psijic, they meant it will be worse, because it is time-gated and depends on random drops.

It reminds me of going each day to the stables to upgrade mount speed etc

They've done such a good job over the last years to remove annoying grind and then something like that... I bet you can buy the scripts in the crown store at some point once you've done it with one char

So most people will only get the one or two skills that are relevant, and never do it on another character. Big L for ZoS on that one. People wont enjoy or stay for this at all

I hate doing dailies, I completely support your suggestions.

I've really liked how ESO has reinvigorated old content through new systems: Antiquities, Companions, etc. But this seems like an above-and-beyond grind. I really hope they listen to your proposed solutions.

i actually like that the grind will take you to various places and do various content - it will get more people interacting with more parts of the game instead of sitting just in dungeons or just in trials or just in PvE. I think it would be a lot more fun if overland was more entertaining for vets, and i'm glad i will also likely only be doing it on one or two characters

Thanks! I have a bunch of characters but I am looking forward to scribing so I will wait and see what this looks like at launch. I am one of those who likes doing dailies (within reason) and ZOS will probably make a good number of improvements in the next couple of weeks. I appreciate your overview and your suggestions were spot on.

No mmo should make you grind on multiple characters. I can take the grind, but just on my main.

PSA: You can pre-save dailies on the live server before Gold Road comes out! I am saving up as many delve, world boss & world event dailies as i can. I tried it on the PTS and it does indeed work. Just do all the dirty work, but dont hand in the quests until after the patch is live (and youve done the scribing questline at least once)

Well i couldnt finish the psijic quest, but im probably going to be more motivated with this one since im really interested in the scribing. Gives new stuff to grind for besides set gear sets. Which gives me reason to play.

So... With 15 characters... That's a billion hours-- EGO... Elder Grind Online because you'll be an elder by the time you get done grinding

Making Alts so grindy makes ZERO sense - same with unlocking companion. It makes me not want to play alts - if I dont play alts i have way less incentive to buy outfits or mounts for them - zos is shooting themselves in their foot....

My guess, is that the flavor text is not finalized for the account fragment slots. Or they are keeping it on the DL for story stuff. Once a book is gotten, I imagine it will work similar to ToT decks.

I am hoping for a less grindy, move player-oriented scribing and ESO in general... I love that ZOS decided to go this route.

That grind has made me want a class change token more than ever

Great video. As someone who plays many characters (14 atm), this new system as you described makes my head definitely hurt!!! Disappointing to say the least and I hate having to complete all these dailies. I gotta ask myself ... is it really worth it???

Honestly I only watch because Skinny is a good content creator. I left for Final Fantasy XIV and Old School RuneScape. Those games are a lot less abusive than ESO lmfao.

Thanks for the complex explanations. Instead of being thrilled now I am TERRIFIED of scribing. Where is the fun in having to do all that again and again for each character? Scribing sounds more like a full-time job to endure not like an entertaining game to enjoy.

this is a mess of a grind i dont have time for. only have like 2 hrs to play at a time. hope it dont become meta for supports.

Not 1 skill will be meta. You will lucky if you even use any off them at all in end game anyways..

Vet overworld toggle would insentivise the use on scribing more, win win for ZOS and the community.

They will make the grind horribly long so you just buy access like the psijic order quest line

Yes, we should have to work for things. Accomplishments feel good. Yeah, it's probably hard to find that fine line. ZOS blew right through that line and decimated it.

As a templar main, at least I'm not planning on using the class mastery, I don't wanna be snared...if I do, that armor buff better make all the difference! Otherwise, the grind to me doesn't seem too bad as I mainly play on 1, maybe 2 characters. I also do alot of those dailies anyway, so at least for me, it doesn't sound bad, especially when paired with a rotating vendor

Do daily Cyrodiil quest reward them too?

As I've been seeing this talked about, my excitement has gone from "this is going to be great" to "I'm probably not even going to fucking bother, past being able to get ink drops to sell, and neither is 95% of the player base, why the fuck did they bother at all". Frankly, this update has gone from "one of the most exciting" to "this is going to do a lot more harm than good". I know my hype for this update has gone from "massive" to "apathy bordering on dread". First, the mail change, than the absolutely insane guild trader nerf, now we're realizing that for the vast majority of people, getting the scribing skills they actually want might be months of hard grinding of locked daily quests for one random drop? Absolutely insane. Bare minimum, they need to make this an account unlock. As a character unlock? No. Absolutely not.

If its as grindy as it sounds… I’ll just skip it. I dont have the time to do everything you mentioned. Games are supposed to be fun…not feel like a second job.

The fact that these skills are already behind a pay wall... I can only imagine that certain scripts will eventually be behind the crown store. The monetization is just getting crazier and crazier

I have almost 3000 hours in the game and 8 active max level characters and I've never unlocked the Psijic skill line at all because the Antiquities Scrying grind broke me.

how much gold is it going to cost to get everything, those prices look crazy?

Ty Skinny as usual is very well done and appreciated. Being a long time player of Eso, sadly this is typical Eso; grind madness. I understand Zos not wanting everyone to have everything unlocked day 1 (smart thinking), but this is madness to say it lightly. The class specific ability is a killer.. question if you have 3 wardens is that 1 grind or 3? Either way it's a horror, but if it's 3 seesh... How can this system be attractive for new players? First the grind to get to cp 1600 then scribing. Ask me a better road would be a value type of system rather than a mindless delve, trail, etc farm. Example ability x is worth 100 points and a delve is worth 2, Dlc dungeon is worth 4, trial 4 etc so at least you can mix it up. I do hope they adjust this cause I can see this (as is currently) pissing a lot of people off. Again ty for the post.

This is precisely why I do not trust Zenimax anymore and why I will never pre-order or purchase a chapter for full price. ESO has such immense potential to be the best MMO out there and it is squandered on fomo monetization tactics, and convenience fees even though it is not a fully Free-to-play game. This all is not even mentioning how long it takes to grind ink after all those steps on each character.

I play on 2 servers, with 10 different characters on each server 😕

grind, grind, grind :( no wonder people leave ESO.

I do have to admit I do have a little overwhelming feeling with grinding all the dailies but I do think ZOS made a good move at making this a little Grundy. IMO I think it will help slow down the amount of change happening all at once letting players experience the semi powered up scribing abilities that everyone is coming up with. That’s my take on it. Great video as usual. 😊

I wish the game was more alt friendly, or you could just switch between classes with one character.

fingers crossed this is still being actively worked on and is gonna be changed to what you said : grind on main toon, buy for gold from npcs and/or guild stores on alts. As it is now, this is absolute doodoo. Id do everything on main just for completion sake, for any other id probably just get the mag chain for non-dk tanks and call it a day. "tHiS IsN't GoNnA bE a BiG gRiNd"...myyy buttocks

I would rather play the game then play the system! I hope changes happen before launch otherwise this will ultimately restrict players to playing one class which goes against the theme of play how you want.

Sounds like we all need to quit our jobs if we want to do this before the second coming.

More grindy than I thought it'd be. This is definitely not something I'd be willing to do on alts. Due to time constraints I already mostly benched my alts so I'll just do this along on my main. But I definitely won't be focusing on it, I'll mess with it when I feel like it.

I loved the "veteran overland toggle" at the end. I pray that it will be real someday 😢

Welp - that settles that for me - big nope.

I’m kind of torn between I want things to do in ESO new things new quest to get new abilities isn’t that bad gives me something to do. They could implement it a better way make it easier for other characters and make some of the drops go in trials, but that’s gonna make it harder or a different Way To unlock skills. Dailies get old RMG from bosses gets old. They need to implement something like a special quest a special arena or something technically it’s in the archives so that’s something I don’t know anyone have any ideas. I really just don’t wanna pay for the DLC and have everything unlocked that would be fucking boring And Pay to win soooo if they added a different PVP arena like a 4V4 or 6v6 Map that would be fun or like a five person Arena it would add content and a way to get scribing done. Come on people give some constructive criticism of ideas of how to unlock this stuff. What do we want to see?

They already put the best armor and weapon sets behind paywalled dlc areas, and now skills too… The definition of pay to win lol.

Skills are trash not 1 will be used in end game maybe 1 op skill so people buy gold road then update 43 it will get nerfed anyways.. its a repetitive cycle theses 🤡 do to us players and were over it.

Figured there would be some kind of grind involved with this. SMH

Horrible News if everything is not account bound. I been played teso for a very long time. 20 characters. I work a full time job. I actually stopped playing January i came back just may. I have not gotten all companions, skyshards, dungeons and dlc done for every character. And i probably never will. Psyjic is not complete vet dug, trials, world quest not complete. The amount of time is colossal needed to complete everything. This grind might break me before i fully drop teso. I might not be on this earth no longer for a 100% completion.

Sounds good to me. Just means that the new skills will feel earned rather than just given

Yea. Honestly I think this is more the end of eso for me. As a pvp player who is already getting tired of the state of eso scribbing while sounding like a fun concept is going to break pvp. Those who don’t buy gold road will get the same patch 35 experience again. I’m good. Was fun while it lasted

Never a fan of excessive grinds. I like ESO a lot because so many things are account wide. Having to unlock so much on all my alts sounds really off-putting.

You are so right that the grind could be more fun if they made a veteran toggle for delves and public dungeons at the least.

Tbh, it would maybe be fun for one or two hours, till you notice that "harder" gameplay slows down the farming speed with no benefits. Like the leads inside the dungeons 😅
