Screwdriver innovation! Nobody does it better than Klein!

I just wanted to make this video to highlight the options that Klein continues to give us in the world of screwdrivers. I’ve built quite the collection!

    My wife destroyed the #2 Phillips on my 11-in-1 Klein screwdriver last week while assembling a shelf from Walmart. The Klein was made in Taiwan, not in the USA, so that may be the explanation. Still, I've filed for divorce.

    That is why you do it for them. They are happy you helped them. Your happy they didn’t ruin your tools. I have tools for the wife and kids to use so they don’t ruin mine. They don’t get the concept of pushing in on screws and love to strip screw heads and bits. Much worse with the power tools. I have a weak m12 hex driver that I hate to use I tell my wife to use. Can’t tear things up with it too bad. And it’s light and compact but still better than running screws by hand

    Klein sells an Adjustable Blade Set for that made-in-USA screwdriver. Gives you a small phillips & flat blade, and square 1 & 2 blade. That would make it kind of like the heavy-duty 10-in-1, without the nut drivers, but with extended reach on every bit. Could be interesting to try.

    I recently bought a Klein 32305 multibit ratcheting screwdriver. It is a 15-in-1 screwdriver. It is on the heavy side, but the first time I used it I was really impressed. It comes with a Combo#1 and Combo#2 bit that are designed specifically for the screws on light switches and outlets. These bits are a combination of Phillips/Flat/Robertson. I recently changed a toilet seat. The screw was a #3 Phillips. I went to use a classic Craftsman screwdriver that was in mint condition. It would not fit into the screw. The Klein fit perfectly and held onto the screw. I was really impressed with the quality.

    I think the one I have is a 14 in 1. It’s non ratcheting but it still has all the bits. I love the storage it has. I’m not a fan of those combo bits for some reason. I have that impact bit stubby and keep it on my desk and in my pocket anywhere I'm visiting for those kind of work. In fact, I do not really need a stubby that frequently but sure it is assuring that I have something to screw with. But I have a few caveats on the stubby. 1) The bits are not really a standard(?) size. I was trying to replace those slotted ones with short torqs that I have... but the stubby's bits were a bit shorter than those standard short bits and the standard bits do not fit into the stubby's container. I can still use them at the nose, though. 2) Connected to the first one, it does not have Torq by default. But still, the extendable, impact grade bit holder works really well with my 12V impact driver, everywhere in my house.

    Hey, as one Klein screwdriver guy to the peanut gallery. When identifying a Klein SD to video, I think it's probably better to show the stenciling on the back of the screwdriver (if it's still there). I wouldn't know a part number, but the stenciling will tell you everything. P.S. nice catch on "it has a 9 inch shaft" your friends would have put that on your tombstone.

    I would try an 11-in-1 with an acetate handle but for me, most of the time, the rubber grip is OK. The only thing I don't like about the rubber grip is when they loosen from the handle; luckily, Klein is good about warranteying them out. Or you can just glue them back down. Trivia: Did you know you can fit the flip socket nut driver shaft into the magnetic bit holder driver, and you'll have like a 21-in-1 driver? I carry one every day. Speaking of alternative grip styles. I really miss the Witte style Grip-right handles. I have an OEM tool acetate handle multi-bit driver for when things get dirty or greasy. I'll also always have a Snap On diamond tip #2 philips in my pouch as well. It will take out screws no other driver can. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed hearing your take on Klein screwdrivers.

    I just picked up an Ideal 35-947 flip screwdriver that is identical to the klein you love. Its also made in the USA and I bet Ideal may manufacture both. As I understand it Ideal makes the handles for Klein and it isnt a far stretch to believe Ideal makes most of kleins driver tools since Klein is really a plier style manufacturer. Ideal owns Pratt reed and Western forge so it makes sense that they still manufacture driver tools in the USA. Ideal owned SK at one point and those SK mini pliers you have are western forge.

  • @realworldtoolreviews

    @realworldtoolreviews

    Жыл бұрын

    That’s cool. I bet your right that ideal makes Klein screwdrivers since they own the Pratt reed stuff. Pratt reed rubber handle screwdrivers look just like Klein. I knew ideal made the little sk pliers. I think ideal has pretty much completely shut down western forge now. Even the USA made Ideal stuff they sold in Lowes is starting to go away. The made in USA logo is slowly disappearing on all of those ideal pliers.
