Apple Black is in stores. Didn't believe it, but its pretty legit. Bought Volume 1. The intro panels are slightly different from the demo online. Love the humor and the way you toy with typical shonen expectatitons. I really do recommend apple black. It keeps you on your toes.
THYSMMMM 😭 IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A SCREENTONE VIDEO FOR SO LONGGG
Amazing video Man! Literally been looking videos for this for ages and none as helpful like yours, Thank you 🙏
Great video man! helped a lot with discovering tools and seeing some of the processes on drawing certain scenes!
LETS GOOOO, I’ve been wishing for a vid like this from Whyt Manga🔥
Man I really needed this I just added this to my Playlist.
Thank you Whyt-sensei. Your lesson has taught me a lot of things on creating a manga.
Thank you for sharing I was waiting for this. Been playing with the tones and learn as I go, but this helps a lot. I mainly work off my iPad, so to get it down there too. Keep up the work!
GOATED content. Picked up a little knowledge I can use for backgrounds. Much appreciated, Whyt!
Thank you for this, was exactly the lesson I was looking for to make toning easier. I'm almost finished inking my first manga and the screentones were giving me the most trouble out of everything, but this made it so much easier to work with. Thanks again and have a great day :)
These long videos are so helpful, thank you for taking the time to go in depth on topics we appreciate it
thenk you so much I needed this for...too long! So helpfull!
This was soooo informative bro thanks 3000. Please keep making vids like that bro, giving us aspiring artists the motivation & tools to begin our own comics/manga
I definitely needed this, bro. Thank you
this helped a lot, thank you!
Thanks for your knowledge, it was very insightful 🙏
As always, great video!
Thanks bro I have been looking for this
This is really helpful! Thank you!
Thanks you are a lifesaver
Nice work brother! Hardly seeing people with a whole round of information about one thing. This video was beyond helpful and you can make finished pieces with the information you provided. I can't imagine the hard work you put only in your videos alone. Keep up the good work and stay safe!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for a great tutorial on everything manga related. It’s hard to find good resources from creators who speak English and use clip studio
AAAAAA YESSSS! WHYT MANGA RESURFACES

Awesome tutorial
I have a few questions if you have the time! 1st: what canvas size are you using for your comics? It doesn't look like a pre-set. Do you have a recommended size for both online serialization and to be print ready? 2nd: I notice you often have a regular gradient in the background that isn't turned into tone for water or sky or things like that. Doesn't that increase the cost of printing? A lot of comic pre-sets in clip are set to monochrome, so do you just manually change a layer to grayscale and leave it that way even through print? Thanks for your time! I love your videos!
Best video about this ever
I've never used this feature in CSP and I'm not sure why. I'll be saving this video when I'm next making a comic, for sure!
I don’t have the money for clip studio yet so I just use procreate and I’ve been able to get a sort of screen tone texture I think it turned out pretty good for me i’m getting closer and closer to my dream of becoming a manga artist
I was like, how can you possible make a half hour video on screentones? That's not possible. Glad to say I stand correct. This was super educational and I will be watching it over and over and over again lol. Btw I've been watching this channel for years and this is the first time I've ever commented. Wow.
This video changed my life thank you so much I learned a lot Apple Black is in my cart I can’t wait to read it😄

Very nice...great videos...I'm interested in the folder separation in more detail
Came to learn about screen tones and ended up picking up so many other stuff lol
Geez, generous distribution of knowledge
Awesome vid as always ! A tutorial about exporting a final page in Clip Studio paint would be great actually. I don't really know what format is needed to be good, PNG, JPEG ? stuff like that
I bought your art book 📕 HOW TO DRAW DIVERSE MANGA from MIDTOWN COMICS in TIMES SQUARE NYC today 😎
Thank you 😊
this video was really helpful! though I usually use comicworks or Manga studio, clip studio paint seems really helpful for making manga.
damn good stuff here.
I use Krita and I draw traditionally (or analog style as they say in Japan). I'll have to look into screentones on Krita.
Thank you whyt

Yes @whytmangaodunze I would like you to further explain your organization when it comes to line art screen-toning,effects etc. a deeper dive into that and why you order things the way you do.
I love how the intro sounds like a hip hop song lol

Please do a traditional drawing video next🙏
27:57 Yeaaah whaah? Wait how did you bend those speed lines? We need a video for that if possible
Cannot wait to watch this! I'm on the clock at the day job!
What I'm struggling with most is choosing a consistent shading style from frame to frame/page etc. Sometimes I want to focus on mood, sometimes not - but the mixed bag - I don't have an organic method down yet to intuitively make this choice. I'm thinking I just don't have enough exposure to have an instinct for it just yet
I'm so dawn happy about this ,who knew it would have so many uses And I thought it was somehow useless 😢
¡Gracias!

Awesome stuff man, exactly what I was looking for. I was having a bit of trouble deciding how to screentone my work, mostly because I'm doing a Scifi story but, I love the way Shojo manga tend to be shaded. Anyway I'm rambling thanks for all your work!
¡ Hermano you are an incredible master you know that ? By the way sorry to ask this questions right know but....what measurements do you use to make your manga or in what format do you do it ? Because I don't know if the comic format would work for it 😢😢😢😢😢
I literally asked myself how I should optimize it! For my first few pages I used kinda too much different grey tones
Can u do some traditional manga tutorial? For ex a drawing black person or making single page for a comic etc
Just bought apple black on Amazon.

A year late but I think a have feelings for you after this vid
uhh, im thinking about learning this screentone effect, but i would also like to replicate some artist to learn from them. ¿so which manga art can you recommend thay used this tecnic? it would help alot :)
Hey I don’t have a lot of these brushes where do I get them? Like darker bleed for example
Less gooo
Hello! I am a new aspiring mangaka, I wanna ask you if you're using monochrome or grey for your manga? thank you~
Do you have a video or willing to make one to show how to export screentones? Especially for posting online? It seems to always mess up for me and look terrible. They take up weird shapes and isn't like how I set it up in my canvas if that makes sense.
There's a softened screentone quality that can be obtained only by taking a screen capture of your manga page in your art program. And this softened screentone quality is what we usually find on mangas we read online. Exporting via your art program can't give you this type of quality. And a funny fact about this softened screentone quality is that it doesn't have the issue of moirées at all.
Is there a source for additional screentones that Clip Studio will recognize?
Do you use gray vs monochrome for color expression? Bc when I try to use a air brush in monochrome it turn into a hard black brush vs an actual air brush
Do you have a video I can watch about the dimensions I should use for webtoons? Basically I am super scared of creating something and it working for uploading.
Ayo, mad early here
Why do you use screen tones instead of just hatching and grey shading? Is it because it's being printed and the printers set certain standards? Or is it for the comic book feel? Would it be ok if I just add values with solids instead of screen tones? Does it matter? Thanks 😊
would I be able to create manga without proper drawing skills? I have a story already but I think I won't be doing it justice if I draw it with my current skills
Please do how to create horror manga
What about IPad, any apps that can do this?
Is clip studio free?
Dude I saw your book at walmart, not gonna lie the name through me off, mostly cause I can't pronounce it.

My main problem with tones is that they have a weird effect when i save the images. Like the tone shift and change as i move my head or scroll the screen so i don't know if that is a me thing or happens to everyone
@eddyalvaross2195

It's because of the screen display. If it was printed, it would look like color or gradient.
mangament about all of this stuff is harder than entire drawing process .___.

Clip Studio Paint.
It would have been nice if you had ecplained these things for monochromatic files because especially the gradients work diffrent when you use monochromatic colour settings. At least in my own, frustrating experience
@WhytMangaOdunze

Convert your layers from monochromatic to color.
@zaranea7920
Жыл бұрын
@@WhytMangaOdunze yeah but still, some things just don't work out with just converting from one to the other. The whole theme of soft gradients, that you covered very decently if I might add, doesn't really work that way with purely monochromatic files. :) Still, there where a lot of helpful tips in herr, especially regarding the CTS thing and how to emphasize things that are closer to the screen
Is it possible to do this in Photoshop as well?

@@himate7572 so I've tried to recreate all these effects in Photoshop and it's possible to recreate all of them. You just obtain them a little differently but the final result is the same. I also recomend trying and downloading a few brushes with similar effects as well. I did use mostly the default ones but you'll need a few more additional brushes (like the leaf shaped ones for the trees for exmple).
