Good luck on the webcomic! ^^
"lighting does not always need to be volumetric" is actually a great tip. i always obsess too much about the lighting being accurate, to the point where ill make the drawing look worse just because "then the shading makes more sense" also honestly i have been using some of these effects, but often the effects (like adding a gradient) end up being way more powerful than the actual shading and the actual shading becomes barely noticable lol. though this usually only happens when i actually render a character, not with cell shading
@ManuMercurial
Жыл бұрын
for suresies! I've found the key with all this is to use it subtly. And the shading tip for non-volumetric shading has saved me a lot of pain in animation haha. Best of luck!
Coming here and watching that end part where you promote AI as a "base" after all the damage AI has done to the creative industry and to indie creators is an absolute whiplash of a feeling

I appreciate it Mauricio, and yeee, when I discovered the bloom thingie I have to admit I overdid it for a while. Every project in the next 2 months looked like it was filmed in the face of the sun. I think the key to it is to be ultra subtle with it haha, but it brings so much value to the scenes!

Been an artist for almost 6 years, had training in an animation and yet watching this process makes me look like a pawn again. This said just motivated me that I jave much learn, semi-realism is my forte but this cell-shading style still holds the crown for an appealing look specially that I am persuing animation as a career. Thanks!
The effort spent making this information as digestible as possible is incredible. Thanks for the video.
After getting into 3D and learning a lot more about how color and light work for shaders and what not, this is really, really useful. Your processes almost replicates how most shaders work to color things in 3D, mainly your attention to color values and how the math works. I really love it, thank you. This will be invaluable.
I've been stuck for months trying to figure out how to speed up my shading process-flats didn't have the right impact but volumetric shading takes me almost as long as the sketch+inks+flats combined. I watched this a few days ago and applying these techniques immediately sliced off 90% of my shading time-with better-looking end results, too! Thanks so much!
