    I was bummed at first that you didn't mention Death Metals influences with horror movies..but then as soon as I saw the music video for Lack Of Comprehension by Death I had a smile on my face....but you could have went much deeper with the band Death's influence of alot of horror Giallo films, mainly Lucio Fulci films on their earlier albums...like (Torn to Pieces) was written about the movie "Cannibal Ferox: aka Make Them Die Slowly" , the song (Regurgitated Guts) was about "The Gates Of Hell Trilogy: City Of The Living Dead" the song (Beyond The Unholy Grave) is about the movie "The Beyond" (Zombie Ritual) was about 1979's "Zombi 2", the song (Scream Bloody Gore) was about 1985's "Re-Animator" (Evil Dead) was obviously about the movie "Evil Dead" also the band Deicide's (Dead By Dawn) was about "Evil Dead 2", Possessed song The Exorcist....Sodom's (The Saw Is The Law) was about Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

  • @RandalltheVandal

    @RandalltheVandal

    I actually didn't know that about the Giallo films. But even still, you can only dedicate so much time to rattling off songs that tribute horror movies before it becomes monotonous. The important thing is to give enough examples to demonstrate the point.

    Have people heard of them? Sure. But "mainstream" refers to consumption as well. The vast majority of people just don't like death metal. It'll never be on top 40 radio and it'll never do a half time show at the Superbowl. I love death metal and I know many people who do also, but it's not mainstream.
