The opening scene of the first anime feature however cool and thats my goat anime is total nonsense, why does dude fire on the police with that op ass assault rifle what kind of protection detail is this, he could have gotten his entire group killed by the police, if one of those bullets even grazed them they'd b in critical condition, then, there's no way they woulda made it to the window to see her falling, she's a cyborg too heavy to swim, then, why is her camo off, the major is a highly visible, well known member of their miltary intelligence community and there's not any ppl in that field over the course of these shows she could be mistaken for since she's the field commander of an almost totally lawless spec ops unit that's dressed like a hooker from the 5th element, that has a storied background in there intelligence community there's a pretty good chance the official that saw here will run into her again in the near future, and what was the justification for the extra judicial murder of that foreign national, from the dialouge he was harboring and aiding a person of interest and that's it and how did she know her killing dude wouldn't cause a Mexican firefight between the 2 groups in the room causing a bunch of guys just trying to make a living to be killed

Fell in love with the show when a family friend let us watch it because he had an old school satelite. Eventually, bought the VHS box set. It came with the classic eyebally/fly sticker. I waited over 20 years to put it on something worthy enough. This is one of the best animated shows/series ever made, imo.

hello randal, i got your video recommended today and watched till the end sorry to say but it way Cutey Honey Flash worked out for me was the most authentic Cutey honey i have seen. i was like 9 or 10 Years old as cutey honey Flash was presented in germany in television and man this series was a banger for me only , once every saturday at 7:00am in the morning, i didnt have to miss the show cause i needed to put an alarm clock for me to watch the episodes. Also that copy of sailormoon or more violent, psychologyical aspect of honey flash was really good and a for young boy which loved anime it was the best. neither shin cutey honey or the original was watched by me cause most of the anime are determand on the Artstyle, shin cutey honey and the original from the 1970s are so ugly that i cant watch them. the reboot on re:cutey honey in the 2014 years was really refreshing and i loved that 3 OWAs. in performance, we need a kinda reboot with more funny parts frome the 1970s with the artstyle of early 2000s with the animations from 2014. the best from all of them with a refreshing look. I really like shounen anime, DBZ, DB SUPER, Bleach, Naruto, and all the others animes where some protagonists are kinda funny and weak in the first few episondes and develops super human powers over the series are fun to watch giving yourself a nice feedback. and dont lie to me, every boy in the early 1990 or 2000s, did a KAMEHAME HAAAA in school.

This reminds me of the Spawn movie, the disappointing adaptation of the popular comic, it too failed to capture the dark, gritty essence of the source material. In contrast, the Aeon Flux movie was an even greater letdown, completely missing the mark compared to the acclaimed animated series it was based on. At least with Spawn, they were able to capture the gritty essence of the comic in the HBO animated series. I wish Peter would have gone the same path as Todd did. Aeon Flux could work as a Netflix animation series rather than a live-action series...!!

Wow you and I had very different takeaways from the end of the show. I took away that there is still free will but there are very few and very rare “random events”. And Lily throwing away the gun was one of them. The futures diverge from that point. Just as the past diverges to a many worlds interpretation of Jesus on the cross. Forest had his faith in determinism shaken to the core when he saw Lily throw the gun away. Some tidbits through the story hint at this. Like Lily’s childhood playing Go with her father and “feeling” like one position was better. Also when her father tells her that the same man does not step into the same river twice. The whole show was a beautiful thought experiment!

The machine is inconsistent in how it handles knowledge of predation and predictions changing the outcome. The end of its predictions is caused by an irreconcilable prediction that changes whenever it accounts for the prediction being known by Lily, because she will always go against the prediction. But the machine doesn't work like this elsewhere. It does change the outcome of events as they would occur without it existing when it predicts Sergey's or Lyndon's deaths. The only reason the predictions don't end earlier is because everyone who looks forward except Lily is just doing determinism role enactment. Forest could have just not invited Sergey. Katie could've stopped Lyndon from dying. These people don't die because of predeterminism, but because the characters do not believe they could or should change anything. They're complicit. Their ideology even drives Stewart to "correct" for outliers for no good reason whatsoever. The show just doesn't address this. maybe Alex Garland is so far up his own ass that he didn't see this and wanted the determinism to be real, with Lily as some sort of Outlier.

I wish satoshi kon didnt leave us so early, i know he would have so many amazing works at this point. He doesn’t romanticise like miyazaki, it involves social commentary and psychological aspects all while having so much artistry involved. Ghibli is just nice to look at, the characters are almost all the same so it gets boring

The teacher in the original show is a woman. All the adults at the school are women, ugly, and gay. CHU is not intended to be a modernization of the original anime. It is intended to be a modernization of the original manga. This is where all those weird ideas come from. Sister Jill in the original is implied to be in control of the villains as they are created by Panther Zora via horrible science and body grafting. They were once normal people. The statue scene is ripped 1:1 from the original manga. Many other plot points are also ripped from the original manga and expand upon them. CHU also wasn't made as a cash grab. It was made as part of the celebration of Go Nagai's 50th anniversary of being in the manga industry. The two other shows made as part of this celebration are the Mazinger Infinity movie and Devilman Crybaby. Natsuko in RE: Cutie Honey isn't a new character. She is a reimagining of Honey's friend in CHU which is her first actual appearance in any Honey anime.

Personally, the voice acting is one or my favorite parts of the show. I might be biased because I watched the series before the shorts. Though the voices for secondary characters are not the best but I think the voice actors for Trevor and Aeon were the perfect choices, plus there's a lot of iconic quotes!

Hate me but I think what's keeping adult animation in such stalemate is anime in itself. Back in the nineties was safe to asume that the people who consumed Æon Flux was the same that consumed the very curated slices of anime very few people imported for profit or just cultural fascination. Even Peter Chung himself worked in a long forgotten, super strange anime series called Alexander Senki (or Reign the Conqueror in USA). But today I think the majority of people who actively consume anime does it in a very "ritualistic" manner: they find confort in structure and repetition, simplistic art stile and unambiguous tones. And the anime industry mostly answers to that crave for direct stimulus: this is sad, this is happy, this is hard, this is evil. Anime is no longer an "underground" thing at all, and its larger audience is often very conservative, so i think they'll find something like Æon Flux just "too weird" and ambiguous for their taste.

Beuing obsessed by gnosticism at this time (got my phase somtime it's 2 weeks, for gnosticism it grew slowly since 1 year and a half and I think it's going to be a part of my life). Didn't know it was obscure, I was sure it was CULT with a big fanbase. Now I found and so some shorts but didn't find the show. So I'm gonna add the DVD box to my gnostic pop culture cool stuf if it didn't became overprices in 4 years. So you didn't learn to me tahat Aeon flux exist but a lot information I didn't (almost everithing elese) was very cool info I nneede! I'll try to spred the word around me, I know people in france who have a sensibiliti with everything wtih words like Aeon, Monade and other with ortograph I won't take the risk. It's not anime but Eden is one of the best not experimental or very underground I read (for know did not read it all, but it might be the best if it keep getting as good). The fact is taht I'm so frustrated tahat people won't read it when it would be their favourite TV show with Breaking Bad if it was one. But don't feel the need for an anime as most of the best Japanese animation work are often no adaptation. 2 If youa re a gamer you maybe know Shin Megami Tensei or at least heard of Persona wich has gnostic reffernece too and is some kind of more accissible spin off. But if you don't Shin Megami Tense is once a game the kind of video game you would like to have a anime that capture it's genius and maturity. But SMT i too much ofa vi game thought as a vigame to be a good animeif adapted in a direct "follow the story and characters manner. In case you didn't see it Ergo Proxy is my favourite anime of the 00's. One season, awesome stroy, gnosticism and mysticsm but with a lot of intelligence. And great art, animation, it's still a anime yoou can tel it's from jaan in few seconds but not nesserecely with jus the jacket wich is I think may at the same time have a little Ghot in The Shell feel that is certainly on purpose. If you didn't see it except for the gnostic references it's day and night with Aeon Flux but it's very good. IMO a masterpiece but the fact that it has a lot of subject that are very impotant to me I'm not sure. But I'm sure it's freakin good!

Well my guy, we can thank Sony for ruining this movie. They literally made the director change much of the script and his vision for this movie. Instead we were given an action movie. This movie was supposed to start off slow paced and start picking up as we continue on with the movie as it's intensity picks up, all the way up to its finale. And this movie was supposed to be a lot more gory than what we got here. So in the end, the director does not like this movie nor does Mila. Solely bcos of Sony forced for an early release hence why its CG is bad and color. And trust me you'd say otherwise if the director fully finished this movie.. even tho you crap on his unfinished vision of style for the movie that it would've been

Im going to be honest. I do love Sailor Moon but the show is very formeleic and not just the villain of the week stuff but also. -The senshin never win against any of the generals -The generals either kill each other or get killed by the main villain and or one of the mosters they created -most of the fights in the later seasons are literally the inner senshins waiting till sailor moon/ chibi moon show up to kill the monster. -the inner senshin are super weak compared to the outher, starlights, evil sailor teams and usually sailor moon after she got her coolest newest upgrade. Also i never watched ch flash but by the looks of it it feels like they just put honey and her friends in the setting of revolutionary girl utena, especially the whole european school aesthetic. Also you didnt mention the live action movies?

0:20 Altered Carbon focuses on one aspect: digital immortality. And both AC and GitS are just smaller fish in a bigger genre we call: CYBERPUNK. You can't credit GitS with a whole genre and accuse others of "rip off", when there was a whole "New Wave sci fi" movement that gradually built up these ideas that'd debut as a new genre starting with Gibson's '84 "Neuromancer" and eventually be used by all of the latecomer sci fi movie hits like "Akira" "Blade Runner" or "The Matrix".

Does anyone know if the "nose twitching" lyric in one subtitled version I've seen of the intro song is translated accurately and if it might be a reference to another part of the male body that Cutie Honey might make "twitch"?
