SCRAPPED?! 1978 ford F100 ranger

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Check out what the cat dragged in this week! Another piece of vintage iron this time by Ford. Back when trucks were trucks and built for work. 302 v8, c6 transmission built with love and made for work. The last of a generation. She's battered and bruised but still fighting for a chance to keep going. Anyone need a cheap project? Thanks for watching !

  • @brian5o

    @brian5o

    5 жыл бұрын

    I have to say, trucks today are good, too but they are very, very different from what they were back then. These trucks were built to last. These were a working man's trucks, nothing fancy but damn were they tough. Just look at the door hinges on these trucks. The were massive and they lasted forever. I love the sound of the doors on these trucks shutting, or even the sound of the latch when you open the door. They are built like a vault and they sound like it. Today, trucks are softer, more fancy and ridiculously expensive. These old F100s were probably about $3000-$4000 new and they would last you forever with minimal issues. Trucks today and all of their complexity make them less problem-free over the long run and more expensive to repair when something does go wrong. I also feel automakers try too hard to butch up trucks today, it is as if they are trying to give their buyers a false sense of manliness by driving them. Personally, I think they mostly all look awful. Trucks today do though have amazing power and fuel efficiency compared to these old trucks and could be used for more than just work because they have larger cabs now and are much more comfortable to ride in. In my opinion, trucks today don't necessarily suck but they are really lacking some of the things that made these old Ford trucks so special.

    *It's a shame that here in the Netherlands these are so rare and always imported from the states.* Here, A Ford like this would easily cost around €3000 and still with USA registration. I really want to buy a cool 70's American V8 powered car or truck. Exactly one like this with some work, but with a sold engine and transmission. Has to be 40 years old or older, otherwise, you have to pay a shitload off road-tax. Smees like a reliable weekend toy for sure.
