SCRAPPED?! 1978 ford F100 ranger
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Check out what the cat dragged in this week! Another piece of vintage iron this time by Ford. Back when trucks were trucks and built for work. 302 v8, c6 transmission built with love and made for work. The last of a generation. She's battered and bruised but still fighting for a chance to keep going. Anyone need a cheap project? Thanks for watching !

Needs a lot of work to look and run good again, but it still won't run you into debt.
That has got to be a rare machine with that high trim level and a short bed. A spiffy ride back in the day. I’d guess all of the stainless trim alone is worth $600. Someone please buy this and save it!
I bet it runs. Them old Ford's run forever. Just needs some love. The value of them are going up way high nowadays. I had a 79'. Ran like a dream.

Totally not scrap!

Man that's nice and is in good shape
nice project for 600 id grab it if i was closer
I'm not a ford guy but its a nice survivor for sure
that 78 F100 just needs some love is all. frame is solid, motor sounds like it still has life in it. sell it for $600 with a new Heater Core and it'll sell.
It's a Ford it will run
Battery terminal, Nailed it
I can’t believe someone scrapped that truck. I would have gladly bought it. It sounds like it runs awesome!
Any running/driving truck that isn't a total rust bucket is worth $1000-2000. That is a $1000-2000 truck in my neck of the woods depending on how well it runs.
Looks fixable and the frame looks solid I'd Save it, sounds sweet bet it drives too, I would replace the heater core and keep goin

I have to admit that Ford did a good job making the Lariat interior better than lesser models!

So very nice to have you back Jay, no matter what you showcase!
Nice old truck. Trucks in pretty good shape for its age.
Nice truck it’s worth fixing in my opinion happy new year my friend wait to see you

I have to say, trucks today are good, too but they are very, very different from what they were back then. These trucks were built to last. These were a working man's trucks, nothing fancy but damn were they tough. Just look at the door hinges on these trucks. The were massive and they lasted forever. I love the sound of the doors on these trucks shutting, or even the sound of the latch when you open the door. They are built like a vault and they sound like it. Today, trucks are softer, more fancy and ridiculously expensive. These old F100s were probably about $3000-$4000 new and they would last you forever with minimal issues. Trucks today and all of their complexity make them less problem-free over the long run and more expensive to repair when something does go wrong. I also feel automakers try too hard to butch up trucks today, it is as if they are trying to give their buyers a false sense of manliness by driving them. Personally, I think they mostly all look awful. Trucks today do though have amazing power and fuel efficiency compared to these old trucks and could be used for more than just work because they have larger cabs now and are much more comfortable to ride in. In my opinion, trucks today don't necessarily suck but they are really lacking some of the things that made these old Ford trucks so special.
Replace the heater core add new battery cables and a good tune up and replace the bed and u have a good work truck add a Stereo too
Beautiful ol girl!!!
i would buy that truck
78 and 79 are my favorite F150 body styles. Could be a sweet project.
Ive got a 1981 F100 Ranger
Good to see you guys happy New year hope to see more videos from you
Welcome back Jay! Nice to see you're still kicking
👍Thx Mr Jay👍Love these old Ford trucks! And yep, the phone listens to us all👀 On another note, I like the old lawn mower videos you did years ago. Funny (ironic) how that mechanic passion you had for mowers led you to this👀✌️
That was top of the line in ‘78. Must have been beautiful when new.
I like that trim nice old truck. And until recently I never knew that some of those had hoods with ornaments.
Desirable Ford Truck ... Nice project 🛠👍
Definitely worth a little tender loving care! Great project truck and a true classic!
WOW it runs great definatly a save truck !!
dam! back when trucks were starting to feel the squeeze of the fuel/gas crisis it looks to be in good shape no rust on the wheel arches or doors and its late 70's the era when rust was going to go into a car so that you brought another one in a few years time
Still a good solid running truck awesome video
Cool truck, looks like a fun project

Wow Jays alive!!!!!
Great survivor! Still with the full "racetrack trim"! If I were not out here in Arizona, I'd be taking it home. Great Hot Rod truck! The '76 you had was a good starter as well! Hope the buyer does a tasteful job!
Man that truck is solid
It's got some serious potential! it runs and moves under its own power! That's pretty remarkable for any vehicle from 1978.
There is some life left in that f-100. As a short bed xlt it was well optioned when new. If I was not in the middle of a 78 f-100 step side I would be on the road to Chesnee. Too well preserved to crush Jay!
Damn that sounds good Jay

Wow, what a sweet truck!
I would absolutely love that truck...
My dad had a 78 Bronco Ranger and i miss it
Sounds sweet!
Really I would rather have an older truck then a new one these days, too much tech on the new ones that can go wrong. Put a few hundred bucks in it and drive it for a few more thousand miles and then sale it for more then you got in it when they get rear. A win win over all.
A really good old school truck.
I LOVE the trim and "fancy hood ornament" of those Lariat trucks. Betcha this one came with an 8 track when new, too bad it ain't there :/
*It's a shame that here in the Netherlands these are so rare and always imported from the states.* Here, A Ford like this would easily cost around €3000 and still with USA registration. I really want to buy a cool 70's American V8 powered car or truck. Exactly one like this with some work, but with a sold engine and transmission. Has to be 40 years old or older, otherwise, you have to pay a shitload off road-tax. Smees like a reliable weekend toy for sure.
It’s alive!!!!!
Cool to restore 😀
Best Ford trucks ever built. I love this body style.
It would only take a few trips to the junkyard to make that old gal a solid work truck.
Please.... Don't sacrifice it to the gods of the crushers. Let it be a gift for someone of humanity to bring back to brand new, or maybe a little better.

Damn nice project, somebody restore that thing already.
My 83 s10 blazer had a water fall inside when the heater core finally went after a few months of smelling it. LOL
I would love to have one of these trucks.
Horn works mint 👌
It's a cool old truck
IDK if its just my opinion, but their is something fun about beating around in an old classic beater truck than a newer one which i cannot explain. It may be a little difficult at first, but i imagine those front clip repair parts can be easily found
u know I do Chris from NJ I love them how much
Good yard truck
The two tone paint and trim was available with the bottom of the line customs too.
Have an old manual ford truck in my backyard. It’s a work truck that hauled trailers for concrete construction. It’s in pretty good shape but it’s been sitting for about 10 years and it makes me sad seeing such a great truck sitting and rotting
engine sounds fine
It is a good truck to haul with. Runs and sounds for 302 down in it. Can't expect too much out if it tho for the price.
