i cant speak for everyone, but i still say its pretty entertaining to see a sandcast mold made. its part of the melting and casting process, so it should be included. is anyone else with me on this?

Seeing a mold made in this fast forward way is fine. I didn't do much sand casting, but I remember mold making as arduous, frustrating (it's so easy to mess up, and you have to start over), and tedious. Making a mold easily takes hours, and the things you make molds for tend to be intricate, and need a lot of work anyway. The guy who ran the workshop where I went hated sand casting, do that didn't help Anyway, watching mold making in real time would make these videos too long, IMO

I'm actually glad you show the mold making parts, gives me/us a better understanding of the whole process 👍

One thing I miss about being a Turner and Machinist is the swarf, I'm happy to see it being used for the power of Casting

Oh yeah, that head print is absolutely something H.R. Giger-esque. Everything he did was always very 'biomechanical'; the Alien / Xenomorph, the covers of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's EP "Brain Salad Surgery" (titled "Work Nr. 217 - ELP I" and "Work Nr. 217 - ELP II" respectively) are great examples of that, and the Thingiverse print heavily reminds me of the same type of "biological mechanical" deal.

Sand casting a new aluminum sand casting tamper in order to sand cast an aluminum face thing. It may sound silly, but it sure is satisfying to watch.

yeah 3 hours for that would be insanely fast with the 3d printer he has. the only ones that can do that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars as far as i'm aware

some weeks this is the most macho "arts and crafts" channel on KZread lol we played with clay today, painted, melted and 3D printed the total package :)

You teach a class about metals. Your approach is far way better than any Chemistry teacher! Always a great job from u.

Watching that swarf blow out of the lid reminds me of popping popcorn in the popper, with kernels hopping out every now and then.

All right!! Just got a new word introduced to my vocabulary, "swarf." It means, fine chips or filings of stone, metal, or other material produced by a machining operation. Pretty kewl man!! And now I realize the stuff you are scraping out of the crucible looks like swarf barf!!.

I actually really dig the mold being made, it adds alot to the ASMR factor to your vids 👌🏽
