    At first, I thought that the baby was going to be put into the sculpture, as a resting place, and that attacking those who stop looking at it would be its revenge for not being watched closely enough. It would also make the instances of defecation make sense, as the baby wasn't potty trained.

    This is the first SCP Origin story I’ve seen that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. SCP Explained has been a huge let down for a few months at least, and I thought Dr Bob was going to start following their trend of videos, but he saved it with this one. This was great. It was dark enough and felt like something I hadn’t seen yet. SCP Explained just loves to self reference their own videos/stories, let’s not let Dr Bob fall down that dark self-serving path.

    That doesn't look like any SCP-173 design. But it has so many redesigns already, this could might as well be a new one.

    The true origin story of the original picture of SCP-173, is that of a Japanese art installation by Izumi Kato. This story is ironically kinda sorta based on a true story. Great storytelling overall!

    Your patreon must have sucked so bad, that they WISH for origin story, when you do a great job for revealing unique, lesser known SCPs. I miss those times, when there's no VS or origin story for SCPs. SCP is supposedly scientist in fictional universe, and scientists are never about VS story or origin story.

    When the "strapped to a table and being subjected to a foreign object" thumbnail idea becomes a running gag, it's time to explore new ideas. Even if exposure goes down a bit, I feel that a cult community is better than attempting to gain as much viewers and subscribers as possible. Then again, I don't run the channel and I don't know the finances of creating a video. I'm just saying that I've been here since 25k subs, and some of these more recent videos feel like an attempt to get videos published just to get them published as opposed to actually spreading information on an SCP like the older ones used to. No judgement on where you want to take your channel. I just wish it to succeed in a way where it won't die out from becoming too popular too quickly.

  • @Republicanboy1

    Yeah it's weird. I've been watching Dr. Bob almost since the beginning and only recently has the weird minimalistic strapped to a table for 90% of the thumbnails been a thing. If you check back to a lot of the older DB videos, the thumbnails were a lot creepier and more individualized toward the specific scp. I still love the Videos but I really can't explain the bizarre shift towards the new thumbnails.

  • @someartist1908

    @someartist1908

    @@Republicanboy1 Like I said, I was here since 25k. I loved the older videos such as SCP-4795 and SCP-973. The older videos characterized the SCPs as mythical objects and beings that should not be messed with. Like you said, the videos are still decent. I prefer the old layout of explaining the actual SCPs containment, danger, etc., but I won't complain if a channel wants to shift their videos in a new direction. It feels that the thumbnail change of direction is completely unwarranted and unhelpful in properly advertising the channel's purpose. For this reason, I doubt the current watchtime is anywhere near the old videos watchtime (which increasing the exposure and clickrate). It's uninuitive to change thumbnails searching for increasing clickrate when they end up ruining it based on how KZread's algorithm works.
