The NHL Draft comes to The Sphere in Las Vegas and on this edition of Locked On Penguins, Taylor Haase joins Patrick Damp from Vegas to discuss some potential picks the Penguins could make! While the Penguins do not currently own a first-round pick, they do still have six picks to make this weekend. Patrick and Taylor discuss some of the prospects she interviewed at the NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo earlier this summer, what their upsides are, some of their downsides, and if there is a chance any of them could fall to the Penguins in the second round or deeper into the draft. Finally, Taylor gives her thoughts on what Kyle Dubas is thinking going into the summer after she had a one-on-one chat with the Penguins president earlier this year!

A lot of good prospects talked about. I like cole hutson. He may be small but his puck moving ability is great. You look at some nhl defenseman today and they're smaller. Quinn hughes and cale makar are smaller guys. Cole's older brother is smaller and he made his debut with the Habs this season. I hear cole is further ahead at 18 then his brother was. Another prospect I like is lucas pettersson. Don't know if he'll still be available though. Another dman who moves puck well is alfons friej. What's your thoughts on him?

Freij is top 3 on my board. He’s big but you wouldn’t know it with the way he plays. I see him more as a playmaker compared to some of the other defensemen and the way he moves the puck is flawless. Would love if he was the pick. - Hunter
Speaking of bringing in "bastards", what about resigning Sam Lafferty? His rights have just been traded to Chicago. If he doesn't sign an extension, there, and becomes a UFA, what do you think of bringing him back? We know that Dubas liked him enough to acquire him, in Toronto, from Chicago.

I could see it. Had career highs last year, definitely plays with some snarl and knows the system. Just worried that his 24 points might be an aberration.
