We got into a mode where we figured let's see as much of this place as we can in two days of hiking.

This was way more hiking than I planned on doing but I figured I might as well scout out multiple lakes while I was there. I won't lie, I'm still tired right now.

That was my experience visiting there. Our theory was the shallow lakes freeze solid killing any fish that may have been planted in years past.

We had the deep freeze fish kill theory going too! Makes sense!

Hello Amani, with no inlets and they are not planting - that would equal zero fish - well you got a lot exercise to get you ready for your next adventure - Lets Go!!👍🎣👊

Tough fishing days but good hiking. Now you know not to try there again. Or maybe not?

That's why we just put our heads down and started trying to power through as much of the area as we could in the short time we were there. Saw 4 main lakes and several smaller ponds and we didn't see a thing. I'll leave it to someone else to explore further. I think I'm done!

You don't know until you go and after going, I think I'm done! Beautiful place to hike around and camp. That bear keeping up up at night sucked though.

I was surprised about the fishing at the 2nd lake. Usually lakes with inlet & outlet water usually have a healthy population. Maybe just one of those days.

I was surprised too. I don't think that creek was much of anything before the big Winter a couple of years ago. I have no idea other than we didn't see squat and it really bummed us out!

I don't mind carrying it. It burns hot and doesn't have the setbacks of my small backpacking stove.

The high lakes have always skunked me. Much better luck in the streams

The high lakes have been cursing me for the past couple of years. Turns out, they haven't planted up here in almost a decade so with no creeks to spawn in, I don't like that math!

What happened to the good old days when part of your license fee went stocking mountain lakes and streams nearly 80 dollars for a 2 pole license?
@wildernesswithamani1027

Over $150 for my non resident with 2 poles. I think they spent that part of the stocking budget on removing trout from a bunch of Sierra Lakes to make room for the Yellow Legged Frog!

Rent a boat with a buddy and Lake Tahoe has bigger fish off of a boat. Or get your small boat out, still got it??

My boat is full of dirt from landing and launching off lake shores so they'd never clear it for Tahoe. I don't mind catching rainbows off of the shore and kicking back. I know there are big macks out there but those don't interest me much. I'll get out there in a boat or kayak some day.

@@wildernesswithamani1027 I seen a video of fishing Tahoe off a boat and there are big browns and beautiful Rainbows. I'm sure Macs too. Way better fish than off shore for sure.
