Scottish rocks play vital role in NASA Mars Space Mission

Due to its unique geology, the Isle of Rùm off the West Coast of Scotland shares many traits with Mars. For NASA scientists planning missions to the surface of our planetary neighbour, rock samples from Rùm are a necessary resource for learning what methods of testing and analysis will yield the best results. Dr. Lydia Hallis, geologist and planetary scientist from the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences talks to us about her experience leading this study and what results she and her team gathered to assist the Mars Sample Return Campaign. #NASA #MarsSpaceMission #planetaryscience
