Due to its unique geology, the Isle of Rùm off the West Coast of Scotland shares many traits with Mars. For NASA scientists planning missions to the surface of our planetary neighbour, rock samples from Rùm are a necessary resource for learning what methods of testing and analysis will yield the best results.
