But Creed was an important part of the post-grunge scene and a guy like Cornell have certainly a big musical influence on Stapp. Fifteen years ago, Cold had written a song whose name was The Day Seattle Died in honor to Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain... and it was a true and sincere song. I think it's the same thing with Gone to Soon. I had read the lyrics of Name and Purpose for Pain and the writing was in the same vein. It's very personal and authentic.

I really love this song Scott! I lost someone I dearly loved for so long. My first love. Wed promised to write to each other. I was 13 when my mother moved my family across country. She hid his letters from me and threw mine away and never mailed them. I thought he had forgotten me. I tried to commit suicide at age 14 but God brought me back. Still, I hadn't seen him in many years. Even though we were miles apart and hadn't spoken, I began to feel an urgency to find him. Finally I decided to move back and I had even traveled across the US from one coast to the other back home again to find him but I was too late. I found out that he passed away before I could see him again. But 10 days before his recorded death he came to me in a dream where we had spent one special, beautiful day together when we fell in love. In my dream, we sat on the grass again together by the same lake and just hugged each other. He asked me if I had wanted to leave him those many years before and I said "No" and that I had always loved him and I never wanted to leave him. He also said that he never wanted to leave me either. We had that chance to reconcile and I know that I will see him again in heaven. I believe that sometimes for very special reasons God allows us to travel in our dreams. Our hearts found a way. Life separated us but love brought us back together again, even if for a brief moment. Now I can move on with my life with him still a part of me. I Love this song. God bless you Scott. I love your new style.

On May 10,2021 my mom passed away last year and I made a promise to my mom that I'm going to keep on going to church ✝️

Lost my boyfriend February 9th, 2021 to Liver failure he was 45. I watched his last breath with hospice at home. We would blast this song at his house all the time. Neighbors never complained how loud music was. He didn't care he said fk it I am going with God soon 😰

Just found out last week that my dear friend Brad passed away quietly in his sleep at the young age of 39......I will forever miss you and always think about you. Oh, and I know you sent that beautiful green & blue dragonfly to me to say goodbye....love you. 🙏🏼

I lost my Grandmother two night ago. We just moved her here a few months ago so she'd be close to us so we could help take care of her. My condolences, I lost my next to oldest brother in 2003, I'm the youngest of 6, he was my guiding light through this dark world and with him gone I've been aimlessly wandering like I'm in the dark, I miss him alot I'm always thinking of him and I know that he's looking down on me right now and smiling because of the wonderful person I've become because of his guidance in life

This song should be released and get a ton of airplay! It is a beautiful heartfelt song that I believe the vast majority of us can relate to and will play for a long time to come. Great Job Scott! I just saw him live and when he played it I was touched within seconds... I lost my sister and her best friend who were 14 turning 14 the next month in a horrific chopper crash into a festival taking the lives of 9 and injuring 18 plus those of us who damaged mentally for life... It's been 41 years now. Still crushes me and prevents me from enjoying life to the fullest. Love this song.

Scott sounds better than ever. Our family had a major loss at the end of March. This song touches deep for people that experienced a loss of a loved one.

My grandma died of lung cancer and she died way to soon so this song brings tears to my eye😢 my cat passed away Thursday July 25th 2019 from kidney disease rest in peace Precious and my gma
