    Because it’s the hall of really good. Not the hall of fame. Scott rolen is not a hall of famer. He was really good like a lot of other guys. You have to a set a standard

    @@westhoodqualzini7884 Derek Jeter had 71 WAR, Rolen had 70. I know WAR doesn't mean everything. But the dude was one of the best ever at his position, that alone gets you to the hall of fame

    @@jonnycamp3819 There just aren't that many great third basemen in history, so the bar is pretty low. His former teammate Jim Edmonds had 8 GGs as well as better AVG/OBP/SLG, OPS+. Also, he had more homers and walks. Since Rolen got in, there are a lot of other guys that should, too. E.g. Helton, Beltran, Whitaker, to name a few.

    I lived in St. Louis as a kid while Rolen was there. Being a Reds fan, I HATED, and still hate, the Cardinals. I STILL liked Scott Rolen.

    I'm gonna guess you're only looking at the offensive numbers. Rolen is a FAR better defender than Williams. Rolen is one of the top fielding 3Bs of all time. Williams wouldn't have won a GG if he didn't play for the Yankees.

    He belongs in the hall. He was great just like Ozzie Smith, Bob Gibson, Stan Musial. And will sit next to other cards greats Albert and Yadi. Because they are all equally hall of famers.

    I am not referring to voters. I live in Boston and sports talk radio hosts and callers can't stop ripping this selection. There is a big market bias among fans.

    Keith Hernandez, Dave Parker, Dale Murphy, Andreu Jones, Jeff Kent, Carlos Delgado. and a number of other players who should be in the HOF. yet Rolen and Baines are.

    You are comparing Baines to Rolen? Rolen is top ten all time in a lot of offensive categories among third basemen and is easily top 5 ever with the glove among third base. In my opinion among third basemen all time he ranks between 8 to 12.

    One the greatest center fielders of all-time. He had some monster offense years and was always consistent. He was who I tried to mimic playing center field as a kid and in my teen years. 👍

    There is fresh blood. That’s the only reason why Rolen was elected. The new voters love specialists and WAR-friendly players. Rolen was a defensive legend and has 70 WAR.

    @@johnwayne9828 Yes, but it’s a great deciding factor in players getting elected. And 70 WAR places Rolen among the greats. Not to mention his eight Gold Gloves (fourth most of any third baseman), 300 home runs, over 2,000 hits, and .281 batting average.

    Going in as a Cardinal or Phillie? He is the model all elite 3rd basemen since have been built around, and there are a lot nowadays. 3rd base generally wasn’t the power position it is today.

    He belongs in the same hall of fame as Brooks Robinson? Same talent as Honus Wagner? Same level as Derek Jeter. When I think of great third baseman? Scott Rolen, straight to the top

    People act like it’s the hall of “great” saying things like it’s not the hall of “very good”. It’s the hall of FAME. Fame takes into account more than just stats. If you’re top 15 in your position all time and defined the position during your age (or were a culturally significant individual)… that’s fame n you’re in imo.

    Sandberg was widely considered the best at his position offensively and defensively for 7-8 years and also one of the best players in baseball. When he retired, he had more homers than any other 2nd baseman ever. He stole over 300 bases, I'm pretty sure. He won an MVP and finished top 5 three times in MVP voting. Seven Silver Sluggers awards and nine gold gloves. That's a HOFer.

    @@briankendall7878 Ok, expert! I've been a MLB fan since the '50s; my opinion as a fan is shared by respected BBWAA (Tony Maserati). Rolen never excelled in any particular category and never led the league in anything, ever--heck, was rarely the best player on his team. I wont get into his dismal post season stats (hitless in both the 2004 NLDS and World Series).

    LOL what? Rolen has 70.1 WAR and Murphy has 46.5. That's very good for Murphy, but he is not even a little bit close to Rolen.

    Not a hall of famer to me.. the gold gloves were impressive but 2100 hits, 300 hr, and .284 ba??? They r good stats and above average.,. Hall of Fame though??? Nah... also wasn't too pleased with how he left Philly.

    I don’t think he is a Hall of Famer. I don’t care about WAR. The eye test says he isn’t a Hall of Famer. Very good player but I didn’t sed him the same way I saw Albert Pujols. He just doesn’t seem like a Hall of Famer to me. And saw a lot of him being an Astros Fan

    Definitely not a hall of Famer and the people who are saying he is can only point to his war as why. Modern fans need to quit having such a hardon for war, it's not the only stat that matters.

    @@rhp_6926 3 war season is generally considered an all star season, a team of 0 war players wins 60 games, a team of 4 war players in theory wins approximately 96-108 games if you don’t count the bench and bullpen guys In his nearly decade peak from 97 to 06 he average nearly 5.5 war a season if you don’t think that’s hof worthy then you’re crazy

    @@anonymousanonymity2815 Jeter has a career WAR of 71. Rolen is at 70. Sorry, just not seeing the two as equivalent players. Given that, WAR seems pretty subjective and not a true measure of a players greatness. Yadier Molina is at 42. Arenado is at 52. Who makes these numbers up

    None of those accomplishments in themselves are HOF worthy. The hall of fame is about players who displayed dominance for extensive periods throughout their careers. Scott Rolen never won an MVP, below 3k hits, below .300 BA, and only really had one season where one could say was really good. That's it. That is not a HOFr.

    He’s not a hall of famer. He simply fits the cookie-cutter image of the writers/voters. Extremely overrated.
