Why do we make these comparison videos?
We know that purchasing a string instrument is a big decision, and every instrument is unique. Since you might not live nearby, or be able to play the instrument (yet) we're here to play them for you and let you hear the ACTUAL instrument you will receive.
We make these videos for instruments at the Master level and higher, and request that it be used for serious inquiries only since they are very labor intensive. To have one made with some of the instruments you are considering, contact us: Email: support@fiddlershop.com, or Phone: 800-595-0592.

Wow I can’t decide between those, the Canonne sounds a little thicker and has nice finish, but I like the smoothness and balance of the Kreisler. I wish I could hear those things in person .. Do you guys do rentals or even trials, and can you do a payment plan or a layaway or whatever ? I don’t know if I want to upgrade to an instrument in this $ range, OR if I want to save my pennies and go for something more workshop oriented. I don’t have any issues with the sound of most of the violins you and Pierre play, although I have no concept of the feel of them. Sometimes I try to assess if you guys feel more or less comfy on the different models 😉. I am not having any playability or sound concerns on my current instrument, but an upgrade might enhance my motivation, and whether it’s one of these, or a workshop model, it will still be an upgrade, but which level is the better upgrade path for me is the issue. I already did a bow upgrade, and probably will again after acclimating to a better instrument. 🥳 PS) Maybe you guys could do a video one of these days assessing these kinds of issues, if that’s plausible?

Hi! Yes, we have in-home trials. Here is some information: fiddlershop.com/pages/in-home-trials We have also partnered up with Klarna: fiddlershop.com/pages/buy-now-pay-later-with-klarna We have a 45 day satisfaction guarantee, no questions asked, when you purchase something from us. You would only be asked to pay for the return shipping if not satisfied. This is a good way to try the instrument at home. Thanks for the tip!!

I prefer the Cannone- the lower registers have complexities

I hear you, and you're right that, of course we are in the business of selling violins. However, we didn't make these violins, and I have many videos playing Scott Cao instruments next to Holstein instruments, and Ming Jiang Zhu instruments. We are in the business of helping customers find the best sounding instrument, regardless of which brand they choose. In every video, I simply try to demonstrate each instrument as it sounds on that day as if you were in our shop playing it yourself, and let the instrument tell you if you should buy it or not.
