    France have always had top level individual talent. This period is no different for the talent on the field, but now they also have what was missing for 10 years: an actual elite international level coaching staff. Witness the result.

    Yes and no. I agree that we have the best coaching staff we ever had but we also have one of the best generation of players and top level quality players were definitely missing for those 10 years. When you see that not a single player from 2018's Scotland-France was on the field for France this year I think it's a clear sign that we didn't have the players.

    Nah come on the batch of players nowadays just doesn't compare. Penaud is worth three Hugets and you wouldn't want a Kockott, a Tillous-Borde and a Parra for the price of half a Dupont would you? Just to think that one could factually define Rémi Talès and Romain Ntamack as both equally "International fly halves for France" is almost insulting for Ntamack. Even the best players France had in the dark ten years, let's say Picamoles or Guirado... they wouldn't really cut it into this team would they?

    What a game! Great skills on both sides 🏉 For Jaminet, it was clearly not his best day. I thought those days where we missed countless points because of our footwork were gone. But I'm absolutely sure it was just a bad day for him. No consequences. This guy gave us so many points in previous games with an impecable consistency. So long live our team! Et ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!

    I guess Galthié's strategy is to bring him quickly to international level experience. He allows for a medium game as long as it sticks into Melvyn's memory. Dulin knows all of that, he's the back up with tons of experience. We're gonna be a happy crowd when both Melvyn and Brice will be both tested as they should to face the biggest challenges ahead

    I remember watching France crucify teams in the six nations around 15 years ago, with the likes of Jauzion, Traille, Nallet and Chabal, and i fucking hated it as an Irish fan living in France... now it seems that that French killer instinct is coming back and i'm already depressed. To think that some of their key players are in their early 20s is scary! But to be fair they have 14 top level club sides to pick from, so i'm going to console myself by thinking that this should just be normal for them.

  • @SB-or7cx

    @SB-or7cx

    2 жыл бұрын

    On the contrary, there is a big discussion in France about that! Some people say that the Top 14 was one of the reasons why we had such a poor team during years. Top teams recruited lots of foreign players and the youngest French could not play with their clubs. Now, thanks to the rules, these players are allowed to play for the French team and the clubs understood that young players must also play. So it gives us a large choice of players, compared to 10 years ago...

    The score could had been more important for France without these many missed kicking. It wasn't a good day for Jaminet but the tries were there. Scotland couldn't win against french in Murrayfield everytime. The last time it was in 2014, I think (17-19) when French rugby team won.

    I mean, Scotland also missed two tries they should have easily converted in the first half -- should've been 17-12 Scotland at halftime. So no point saying 'missed kicks' mean France should've won by more...

    @@jungbolosse3034 I mean, 50% of the comment was about missed pens and conversion as well... I was at the game, Scotland should've gone into the half with the lead. France deserved winners, but the errors were glaring from Scotland's side and that's something that is worth noting.

    2 points id like to make. France, on purpose holding the line out jumper in the air to force the penalty. Ref warns France but doesnt reverse or remove penalty. AND they continued to do it. Secondly. I may be wrong, French player on the ground, no where near the play, balls rolls over and he passes it from the ground, Try scored. On the ground. Out the game. I thought.

    Chris Harris, world class in defense but average or below average in attack for an international 13. Clearly butchered the try, wrong decision making wrong angle running, as a 13 you should always straighten the line, draw and make a simple but timing pass to your outside man. Scotland need Huw Jones in attack but need Harris in defence. Kinghorn maybe?

    I have to agree here. But I’ll start by saying even if the referee was better, the French would still have won. Nevertheless it was deeply concerning to see the ref slow to react to the high tackle and he took nearly 3 minutes to review a foul play. Additionally, it was Scotlands advantage but 20 seconds later we knocked it on yet he still gave the scrum to France instead of going back for the penalty! What was that about? Despite the referee, France still deserved to win.

To get one of the biggest salary in the world living on couple flashy staff once in the blue moon, no tackles, no commitment nothing hard for me to understand. Most overrated player ever!

    I played and enjoyed rugby for over 10 years now. Yeah I wish some people don't overhype the guy and our team but being a Scottish fan, it means a lot he is there with other people. Would like other players playing at 10 and Russell coming in and wish he was playing better in the game but it was also not just him at fault. I do get your point and its frustrating. The French just outclassed us. Hopefully better next time.

    Russell's game is intellectual: he is a very smart player that is able to make quick decisions. But today the French side was just too strong.
