Scientists Find Skull of an Extinct Crocodile Species
Today, there is only one species of crocodile on Madagascar: the famous Nile Crocodile. But local stories about a horned-crocodile that died out hundreds of years ago, have spurred a search for its fossils.

Fossils are everywhere
Fun fact: this is the species Voay robustus. It was actually larger than the Nile croc and it’s unlikely that it was outcompeted. When Europeans fist arrived on Madagascar, natives frequently told stories of both crocodiles coexisting, and the fossil record indicates they lived together on the island for thousands of years with little competition. It’s more likely that the Voay’s extinction coincides with the extinction of other terrestrial megafauna in Madagascar, since that was the Voay’s primary food source as a primarily terrestrial crocodilian.
Imagine if the crocodile was still alive and just hiding in there

Is this original footage of the find or a recreation?
Wouldn’t this make a good horror flick? Turn out they’re still there! 👀
“One of the biggest mysteries”
The question is... can you take that DNA and clone a one of these horned crocodiles?
That would make a decent ashtray
Ur channel is such a tease ! But Thank you....something to research on my own .

Thank you for teaching me something new.
Hi, amazing job!
Fake.... Total fake.
This has been discovered already. In 1987 a Colombian explorer named Jose Querez found a Horned crocodile skull while traveling the island of Madagascar. It’s well documented and I just made this all up.
MORE LIKE THEY PLANTED that skull and then told the camera crew they was ready to "go find it"

Watched the whole show the other night. Really interesting!
I didn't know that the Nile Crocodile lived on Madagascar as well.
