Many people have the impression that the natural world is all there is, and that science explains it all. Is that true? Isn’t there something more, something higher, than this world?
Science and the Search for Wisdom (Aquinas 101) - Fr. James Brent, O.P.

Thank you very much Fr Brent. There is indeed no contradiction among Faith, Science and Search for Wisdom instead they complement each other which point to God's incomparable power being the Creator of everything. Glory to God forever!

Thank you for a great beginning to what I’m sure will be a wonderful series, in keeping with the institute’s high standards. We know faith and science are ultimately consistent, because both come from God, and, as Thomas says, truth cannot contradict truth.

This institute's standards are not God's standards, but the world's. True faith and true science must of course be consistent because both come from God. But these people refuse to prove that the idea of billions of years is in fact true science, and merely assume and assert that it is.

To know Him is the highest wisdom, to praise Him ( with one voice) is the greatest joy. In comparison, the joys of this world are nothing.

It starts with the presupposition that there is a creator. In that sense it is not a proof or explanation. At least not to me. Also the presupposition that there is *good". That is a difficult concept after a life of disappointment, financial insecurity, trauma, tedious drudgery, pointless employment, anger, resentment, deprivation of all kinds.

Science means knowledge and philosophy means wisdom both are the attributes of God so are the understanding and the insight without which we cannot find the reality of God the hidden truth in the secret of Jesus Christ

Another great video discussing reason and faith from a slightly different perspective. I wonder, though, what is it in today's society that makes so easy to believe in scientism? Why do so many young people tend to be drawn by it and accept it as a matter of faith, but have so much trouble even accepting the *possibility* of metaphysical realities?

"Biologists observe the inner workings of the living cells"... hahaha, I remember how in high school biology class everyone was drawing the picture that was in the textbook, because we couldn't see nothing that we were supposed to under the microscope! 😂 By the time you get to university you're not looking at microscopes anymore; everything is just too small...

How do we square this conception of ourselves as mindful, meaningful, free, and rational beings with this conception of the world as consisting of nothing but mindless, meaningless, nonfree, norational, brute physical particles? Probably by realizing the latter is a metaphysical claim and obviously false, yet taught as "proven science"

Well, obviously. But why does your profile picture show a horned figure with the words "Evil Legion of Evil"? Surely you know that this is not compatible with a profession of the divine and catholic faith.

You keep asserting that 'science,' or the 'best science,' supports evolution and billions of years, without ever even attempting to prove it. You never address the strongest arguments for the traditional Catholic doctrine on Creation. It is becoming very difficult for me to believe that you are not total frauds, or at least cowards. What honest person can read "In the beginning God created the heavens AND THE EARTH": and interpret it in such a way that the Earth 'formed' _thousands of thousands of thousands_ of years _after_ the beginning, or supposedly two-thirds of the way (!) into the alleged age of the universe? Who can read that the stars were created on the fourth day, _after_ the Earth had already been created on the first day and _after_ it had "brought forth the green herb, and the tree that beareth fruit" on the third day; and that there was water before light, no rain before the creation of Adam, and no death before Adam's sin: and interpret all these things to 'actually mean' the exact opposite? Will you dare to profess that Adam passed away at the age of 930, Seth at 912, Enos at 905, etc.? What do (what you call) 'serious' scientists think about this? What do the 'best' scientists of the pagan establishment think about any of the miracles recorded in sacred Scripture?
