@@movementmaintenance But can this be fixed with stretching? Is it a good idea? Or should I just accept that I cannot touch my toes with my legs straight? I am flexible otherwise.

First with sliding exercises and then with tensioners and after that with stretches and heavy eccentric hamstring exercises.
Helping and explaining in such simple way, why you guys aren't famous???? I am astouned.

ok, so where have you been all my life? This is gold, seriously. I have been in physical therapy for a year now and my hamstrings have been tight, my right leg has been tight up to my foot/ankle. I started this exercise yesterday and I see a huge difference. My right leg stops cramping up and for example my thigh stopped hurting in child's pose. Brilliant, thank you so much

Wow...i have been overstretching and suffering for months. This worked right away when I added head movement. Been doing elephant walks, figure 4 and this leg extension with no change. 15 reps of this with head movement and it feels better.

I usually never comment on videos but this one is too amazing not to! I found this video after searching for an answer to why my legs start tingling when i do hamstring stretches. after having made great stretching progress during my yoga practice I had several months of inactivity. When trying to start stretching again this tingling and numbness started appearing. I did the test shown on the video and sure enough it was the sciatica. I just did the "flossing" and tried my usual hamstring stretch again. Guess what? no tingling 🥹🥹🥹 This was after just one round! Can't wait to see the results after doing this regularly. Thank you so much guys keep up the good work ❤️ subscribed!

Thank you so much I’ve been trying to get more flexible hamstrings for years but they seem to have been only getting worse it hurts so bad to stretch them that it makes me want to cry I couldn’t figure what was wrong with me I knew that hamstring stretching never felt like any other type of stretch cause it was just pain it’s such a relief to know it was cause of a nerve and that it’s fixable without extreme pain Update I did a few reps on both sides and I can sit up straight with my legs in front of me with barely any pain which is a huge Improvement because before watching this doing that would make me cry

crazy how long it took me to figure out it was the nerve that causes the tightness in that area. I really always wondered why my yoga routines and hamstring stretching routines did plateau after some time.. crazy also that none of my teachers addressed this issue although it seems so obvious to be a cause of problems for many.. Thank you for you video!! Will try this and see if it improves my flexibility.. Regards

Hi! At the moment, we unfortunately don't have videos for this topic. Sometimes nerve mobility exercises can alleviate these symptoms as well, so maybe the things shown here could help with that. 👍
The second exercise I can’t even do with my other leg straight so what should I do?
@movementmaintenance
2 ай бұрын
Do only the first exercises if you can do it. Or keep the leg bent, it also works👍
I've tried every "release tight hamstrings" method out there. They all claim to trick your nervous system to allow you to bend more. Nothing has even remotely worked. You are my last hope. I'll start tomorrow.
@movementmaintenance
4 ай бұрын
Let's hope it works. This doesn't trick your nervous system, it just makes your sciatic nerve more mobile. And if your movement restriction is caused by the sciatic nerve, then this helps definitely. But if it is mor of an hamstring muscle issue, then I suggest doing heavy eccentric exercises that go into the stretch.👍

My one hamstring i feel a dull pain constantly and my lower back is in spasm and can feel a contracting feeling when moving, i can hardly walk sometimes can't even stand straight without holding onto something, legs feel that weak and it seems ive pulled my shoulders now as i live on my own, so need to somehow get about, crawling at times

And?
I have had a really tight nerve behind my knee for thirty years after pulling my hamstring that itself had healed. I tried a type of nerve floss exercise for six weeks. The tension behind my knee lessened but the tension in my calf increased causing my plantar fascia to pull. I feel some tension in my buttock aswell and l am doing a stretch exercise just to,take pressure of the plantar fascia.

Yes, moving your head back and forth can cause this if you are not accustomed to it.
I’m currently suffering from sciatica. I’ve been given gapabentin and ibuprofen as medication. And of course, physical therapy that I’m attending to. I’ve had numbness in my hamstring and buttock for about 3 weeks now. How long does numbness usually last?

Hi! I cannot unfortunately give you a clear answer as it depends on the severity of the problem and also the factors that uphold the symptoms. I wish you best of luck and hope you get well soon!👍
What if doing the 1st test its the quad that feels tight and limiting?
@movementmaintenance

It might be an myofascial issue of the quad if the shortening in muscle lebght feels tight
Can you still exercise? Or is physical test need to allow the nerve to settle?

I tried a few times over the past days and it seems that the tingling in my leg worsens after doing the second exercise. Any thoughts ?
@movementmaintenance
23 күн бұрын
Hi! You might stretch it too far. It is easy to bring the knee too close to your chest. If the second one is problematic, do only the 1. exercise. Hope this helps!🙏
If I have identified it as sciatic nerve but my calf’s muscles extremely tight painful

If you experience pain when doing the movements, then you either need to do them with a smaller range of motion or if this doesn't help, then modify it into an easier version. 👍
Damn, that first exercise helped a bit after only two days. The second, lying, posture doesn't seem to be a problem for me.
