yes, it is the story of Jonah. The lottery system for seeing whose fault it is, him trying to escape his duty, being cast overboard. Even that council member as holograph, all parallel, very good.

Johnah and the whale. Jonah was sent to Ninevah by God to help them, he refuses and boards a ship to anywhere, the ship hits a storm and the crew throw Jonah overboard, he is swallowed by the whale and puked up on the shores of Ninevah.

I thought this was a very nice retelling of the story of Jonah! They made it different enough that the parallels aren't obvious at first, but once you see them, it plays out very nice, although I did find the ending a bit anticlimactic.

He judged this planet as unworthy. But in reality there was some loveliness there.

I am so surprised to see how many people were confused at the ending! The peacemaker ends up on the enemies planet that he previously refused to protect from the impeding doom, as he believes they are an evil race. However, the so called enemies are not as hostile as we are originally lead to believe as the end of the film shows the "enemy" building a fire and covering the peacemaker with a blanket to warm him up and protect him. When the peacemaker wakes, we see the shocked/aggressive look on his face which causes the "enemy'" to retreat. At that exact moment, the peacemaker realises what the enemy has done for him and apologises, perhaps for the hostility between their races as he realises he was wrong. Further to this theory, in the beginning we see the council the peacemaker belongs to threatening him and that they will hunt him down, even though he has done so much for them. In the end, the peacemaker/human race are in fact the evil/hostile ones.

I have to say the crew of this ship was a lot more composed than most I've seen in movies. Usually at the slightest hint of trouble they all become crazed and do idiotic things.

An excellent retelling of Jonah!! Also can i just say that as a Christian I found "Everyone deserves to be warned" very convicting! Absolutely loved this! Great job to everyone involved!

This was amazing. There's a culture here, a culture unlike any that we usually see in science fiction. But there's also a story. None of these characters have names, but Ms. Scotty, Black Eddie Redmayne, and all the rest of these characters feel real and fascinating. Great, great job.

Space films are difficult to do on this scale. Especially on a low budget. Decent effort.

The quality of production is just unbelievable ,this channel alone can pay for all these ?

What wonderful and weird world building. So much happened---so much back story and future potential---and yet the director & team set such a great pace.

I discovered Dust a week ago and have been watching every night since then. It's like the old Heavy Metal Magazine, only in a film format.

Been watching space movies on Netflix the past few days and I have watched all of the good ones (and a few really really bad ones). Thank goodness I found this channel.

I swear DUST makes better shorts then a ton of hollywood movies

These shorts by Dust, are really well done. Good visuals, good writing, good acting, well produced. Really, quite impressive.

note to writers: mystery and obscurity only hold so much value in a story. eventually your audience has to know what tf you're getting at to enjoy it. edit: if i have to scour the comments to find out this was a remake of a bible story i forgot long ago, then maybe i wasn't your intended audience. sorry bout that.

i would actually posit that that's kind of the great thing about youtube, and not just seeing a short on showtime or something. i didn't 'get' it at first really, but then i read the comments and fully understood, and that realization is part of the journey, and awesome. i feel like i not only saw a cool short, but learned/remembered something

Brilliant! Great premise, superb acting! Thought provoking and heart-rending that he was sent to save those who nearly murdered him.

DUST is one of the best channels on KZread in this genre and format.

If the short is confusing - that means the script is poor. Most lines are stupid, acting is awful. More importantly, the actors radiate hate and anger to each other, beats me why, the only explanation that comes to me is that the director sets the mood.

Dunno about that. We have a "species" right here on good ol' Mother Earth thats had lots of serious wars in the past, and still they haven't figured the danger of the current weaponry that's available and at their disposal to use. What's to say they would recognize the danger of a pulsar? Probably chalk it up to some religious will of "X" deity and then fight against any who'd disagree with said "will". Go all Postal on them.

Overpaying your hand is a negative thing.

DUST is the first multi-platform destination for binge watchable sci-fi. Yeah right... 10 Dust shorts later... well, they may be right with this.

Well done, great story. I wish most sci fi wasn't a dark, hopeless future.

David Gyasi - ever since seeing him in the Troy TV series I have such a new appreciation for his acting.

I started watching DUST four years ago, it is the very best!!! Thank you. 👍👍👍

Okay, I've watched this twice and I think I got it. My guess is that peacekeepers are very honorable individuals, and I think that this is how they retire. I think that his last mission was a test, and that you only get to go to the peaceful Paradise if you pass.

The characters- distinct- stand out, each, with their personalities and attitudes. Good casting!

Full credit to the sets, props, VFX

I just know that the space pod was beyond claustrophobic especially with the liquid gushing in......

Aurora at the end is a nice touch. Just what one might exspect during a solar storm - a coronal mass ejection.

I'm immediately brought into this world?!!!? Everything is so well done. I love this film. And I hope the best for all the cast and crew. Thank You. I'd this to be a wew series.

This short is top notch. Loved the build up and visuals were beautiful. I also appreciate how the story is told through character actions and natural dialogue instead of stiff narration and info dumps. Not everyone caught the biblical similarities on the first watch. This is a solid modern interpretation of Jonah's story.

So I guess the message he gets at the beginning about how they are coming for him if he doesn't do what he's bid is God speaking, but that should have taken place before he got on board if you want to follow the text fully...

I am completely and utterly addicted to any and all of these movies by Dust. They are so incredible!! Are these truly students that are making these movies? Totally awesome!! You could give a few big names in the industry a run for their money and that's not even an exaggeration!! :)

I’m really impressed with the quality and storyline. I’ve watch about 15 different shorts and all held up against any sci-fi stuff out to day great job.

Special Effects - Fair, Acting - Fair, Story - WTF

I've always thought of the term sci-fi as a general term for more of a comic book/fantasy/pop version of real Science Fiction, Azimov, Clark etc. Whatever you want to call it, the Dust shorts are, each and every one, a masterpiece in every way, writing, direction

Why are people disliking this movies man like come on it takes so much hard work to make this and post this on youtube for free P.S. This channel is the best for Sci-Fi movies

*So many questions..if only someone had the answers!* What happened to the mining ship n crew? Did he die? Is he in afterlife? What was his past? If it wasn't a curse n this "council" attacked him then why did they not attack his escape pod? If it was damaged n he sank, the how did he survive? Where is he now n how did he survive the crash? Who is the girl? Which planet is he in? What about the people who killed him in his dream, looked very similiar to her at the end... Also read this in so many comments but who/what is this "Story of Jonas"?! ~Random 19 yo Discord St☆rry♡
