    I work in TV production, and I didn't notice the editing. That's a good thing. Everything was natural, flowed together well, you established what you were doing by showing the tools, timing was excellent, nothing went on for too long or wasn't long enough. When you do it well like this, the video just... works, I guess is how I'd put it. Better than a lot of professional programs I see. Can't wait for your next build!

    Consider this. The room like a project car will never be done. If it was you'd just get bored with it. Enjoy it as a living changing progressing thing. I wouldn't stress over 'progress' or timing. If your making and your enjoying what your making, does it really matter if its toward one project or another? If your unsure, decide if you like the thing you making now more or less than things you have completed. That will be for you to decide but hoping that perspective will remove the negative 'demand' that completion goals make. Think iterations, not finished project, but finished parts, which seems in keeping with your approach so far.

    Thank you much! I completely agree with you on your thoughts. The biggest thing I think I am actually focusing on is actually working on the room more. With us producing a new project each week, or at least trying to, I have avoided the room build as I always have put pressure on us to finish entire sections of the space. Thinking we need to show a more completed area. So when i say we are not overthinking this going forward, I mean we are going to take on projects like this one more often. Even with it not being a fully completely section, it helps us progress forward! Thanks so much for watching!

    Suggestion for the top so you get more light from it... throw some led ribbon lights in the top to make cove lighting and you can then wall mount it and not only throw light down but up as well

  • @TheSmugglersRoom

    @TheSmugglersRoom

    2 жыл бұрын

    Totally could do that Bradley. We don't want too much light coming down from above as we have some fun ideas for how to finish the ceiling, but you could totally go nuts above.

    Actually to be honest it’s nice to see a simple build. A lot of people don’t have all of the laser cutters that you have or 3-D printers or anything else of that caliber. People see this and they See that they can go to Home Depot and you make random stuff look cool. I know you do a lot with the laser engraver but your channel gives a lot of people inspiration to do things and a lot of people don’t have that stuff and I’m sure they feel I would love to do that but I don’t have The tools that it takes. I know you say you can do some of the stuff without the laser engraver but unless people see you do it they don’t know how. I really like the things that you do. But I remember watching you make a dog water dish into a Hydro farm LOL using PVC and simple products. That helps a lot of people get inspiration and no they can get things off the shelf to make awesome stuff

    Love your build. Looks like you used a “Robbie #2 for the build, eh?” I love the use of the drainage tubing. Using that for a garage build is $$ bad enough, but to use it for basement lighting wow! Can I get you explain it to my better half?? If anyone can come up with less $$ ideas we could all benefit for sure.

    That turned out Really Great!! I can also see the backside as you did but Also as Terrain for Scifi miniatures filmmaking and tabletop gaming terrain. On my budget pretty much worth with recycling and dollar store electronics to make my stuff. I'm putting together a DIY lighting system which includes battery operated LEDs with the remote control for $4 a piece. It works for what I need them to do in a practically No Budget sense. You may have seen on the makers page on FB that I made a Blaster out of foam that resembles Robocop's Auto-9. Down the road I'll be using clear plastic recycling to make Buildings that light up. As I slowly work my way towards making my fan film, I'm figuring out how to pull off the shots I need with what I can buy and use from recycling. SO with that in mind Brian, I would like to Humbly Offer up a CHALLENGE for you. Purely for Fun. As your Room Build is the interior of your Smugglers Spaceship, you're Gonna Need a FUEL INPUT Port or even a Atosmhere DUCT Cleaning Access port. In other words an Oversized PLUG. Pick Your WIDTH for Size, Where in your Spaceship would you see a Spaceport Crew Drag a Large Hose in and Plug it inside. Could be for FUEL, Electricity, Water, and Any Other Liquids your ship would Require topping up like when at a gas station. Part of the Beauty of Star Wars and its inspiration in all your work is bringing that fictional world into your reality in Homage as much as in Play. And we all watch because you Revel in it and that enthusiasm comes across in your work and your videos in general. I'm Reconnecting with my own Creative side, it's not easy as I'm working through a lot to do so. Part of running a YT channel is the pressure to produce content and that might come a tad slower than those pressures do. It can throw you off track. So do something even Simpler than this piece here. Sometimes for a Space ship set, ya just need a Logical Space Filler to get another Piece DONE. So Find a Space Close to the FLOOR where attention doesnt always get paid to as usually anything below the knees gets ignored outside of wide shots. Space ships are chock full of details and Space is at a Premium. Now play with your imagination bub! You've done the Large accessish port thingy on the main prop machinery wall. You Could make a Book Nook art piece amd build it from what we saw in the Mandalorian when Din has Grogu in the guts of the ship trying to set red and blue wires into their proper sockets. You could in your personal Star Wars sumgglers story have a Babu Frik sized mechanic as apart of your crew, and build a BOOK NOOK like Insert to Shove into a spot somewhere that you might Miss upon first pass but Discover later as you go along. Hidden Treats bub. Space Bugs. Rodents. Pets even. You've Immense Potential that Doesnt Require your Power Tools to the same extent. Much of what you've made comes from that Builders Mindset. Carpentry all kf it. Immense Skills amd Talent being bent towards this Amazing project. Perhaps among other things to think about is How to Think About them. Cosplayers come at it from a different angle. Miniature Gamers from Another. Professional Model makers and Toy Photographers from others. "Judge me by my size do you?" "You must Unlearn what you have learned." Yoda said this to Luke to Open Up his Mind to the Greater Realities the Minor Demomstrations Alluded towards with the Force. Take a look at a 2 liter bottle of soda pop. Now...how many different Sci Fi Things can you Think of Making just Looking at That Shape? Me, I see a Spaceship, buildings for a cityscape or skyline. I see high pressure canisters. I see Large Batteries or Cannon Shells. I see a Gravity Fed series of Chemical Vats for a Laboratory that can be line fed to another Fake machine. I see Pneumatic Messaging canisters like from the 1920s but scifi updated. I see a Escape Pod. I see plastic I can use a window panels and Broken Glass for miniatures... Clear plastic packaging of All sizes, strung with lights from within, then dressed up with bits and precise pin scratch through the cover paint and Voila high tech Panel for the interior of a complex computer or laid flat as a miniature complex, industrial or research. Part of the frustrations you've been having might be alleviated by checking out the different ways people are making their Star Wars stuff and maybe you could apply that to your list of Inspiration. Your characters are Mando Smugglers after all SO...do a series of PROPS that are SMUGGLERS CONTRABAND items from the Star Wars universe. What might a Suitvase Sized Warp Drive look like? As if it were a Cartridge type install. I imagine the Warp drive from the Phantom Menace shrunk down to a manageable size for your build would be More than Appropriate. Emergency Breathing Gear like Han had on the Falcon in ESB. Fire Extinguishers! What would they look like? Is there already an example besides a Hose nozzle from R2? My challenge is simple. Make a MUNDANE item for your ship. Something small, something Simple. Like Anything suggested above. For example. The Pop Bottle. Easy enough to turn it into a prop. I would coat the inside of the bottle with a layer of epoxy to straighten it and then some pebbles about an inch or two deep with more epoxy to give the Gas Canister some weight.then permanently glue the cap on stylized a Greeblie cover for the bottle cap so it looks like a functioning gas canister, gently sand the plastic exterior of the bottle with a fine grit so primer and paint with stick better. And then paint layers to give it the right look, wear tear and grime, then Flat spray Seal it. And Voila one or more specialized Gas Canisters. No lights, no power, no electricity no sound FX. Just a Space Filling Prop that helps give that space more of the Illusion of a spaceship interior.

    COOL FIXTURE!!! Hey Brian after looking at the fixture awhile I realized I've seen this shape before. Have you seen the movie MOON ? I think they used the same drain fixture for the moon base miniatures. They would be the connecting tunnels to the buildings. Check it out.

    @@TheSmugglersRoom Oh, you were, but from what I've seen, some Makers tend to flit from project to project. How long did it take for Bob at ILTMS to get R2-D2 to a "convention ready" minimum state? 2-3 years?

    @@lynnmakes I believe that has a lot to do with keeping large scale projects fresh, and your interests going. I’ve known droid makers that build their droids for many years. Always adding or improving. I also take on other projects as a way to improve my skills on a smaller scale, and then move back into a large project. At the end of the day, as long as you are happy making, it’s all good.
