SC1445
Schumacher 6V/12V 250A Manual Wheel Charger/Engine Starter
Every serious home garage needs a trustworthy, manual, wheel charger with a lot of starting power like the SC1445. Automatic chargers might be great for some people, but others want all of the control so they know the job is getting done right. The SC1445 gives you that control. You set the timer and amperage and monitor everything on the amp meter. This charger is built with a sturdy metal case, because you know these things are going to get beat up and well used. The retractable handle and compact wheels create a smaller profile for when you don’t have a lot of extra storage space.
Solid performance, design and long-lasting durability make Schumacher’s battery chargers the optimal choice.
• For use on all Standard, AGM, Gel and Deep Cycle batteries
• 135-minute timer keeps you in control of the charging process
• 250A 12V Engine start is powerful enough to jump SUVs, trucks and large engines
• 50A 12V, 25A 12V, 25A 6V Boost modes can quickly bring deeply discharged batteries back to life
• 10A 12V Charge mode for your basic charging needs
• 12-foot total reach from the 6ft. power cord and 6ft. front-mounted output cables
• 6-Gauge output cables stay flexible even in cold conditions
• Heavy-duty color-coded clamps provide a solid connection for both top and side mounted battery posts

Well Randy, the SC1445 I bought a couple of weeks ago was dead right out of the box. Hummed real loud and put nothing out. I had to dig out my old charger. Two out of the three last chargers from Schumacher have had issues. Kind of curious about the reliability and quality control from Schumacher.

Thinking of getting the dsr139. Do you have to use the timer, or can it just stay on?

So how do u know how long it takes to charge the battery? How do you know if the battery is fully charged. Or is this information people who are mechanics would only know? It just seems like this is a huge power charger but most customers don't know exactly how long it takes to charge the battery

I bought a SC1401 Worst Charger Schumacher has ever made. I have never been able to get this thing to work. I wonder If Schumaker would exchange it for a manual wheel charger I still have the reciept from TSC farm store.

The irony is he is a product reliability specialist. Yet they ship out with issues. I have a Schumacher 200amp starter and 50 amp charger that I have had for many years but the timer dial never even worked. It turns it on, but will never count down. Got it as a Christmas gift so couldn’t return it. If anyone knows how to fix these timer dials, I would love to know.

Does this have transformers inside or solid state electronics. Also, does it have reverse polarity protection. In my experience the solid state stuff fries out immediately with a reverse polarity connection. Please go back to using transformers. Also, Shcumacher switches have historically been the worst. I always have to rip out the timer, and then replace every switch with a light switch... because they are just so shodily built and fail over time. Transformer and rest of the units are great, the old skool units in metal cases, but the switches were always junk and the net plastic case solid state stuff is junk.

I believe it does have a transformer But the smart charger version has a motherboard with a transformer

@@sandasturner9529 I went with a really old Schumacher I new had a transformer in it. FETs and solid state is great for somethings like quadcopters and soldering irons where you're willing to sacrifice durability for light weight, but a 12v car battery charger is not where I need light weight at all costs... at the sacrifice of product longevity , survivability, and durability and ease t repair. I buy acar battery charger it better last 50 years.

@@qua7771 Well, take care of it, the transformer ones are the good ones. If it's built right, it will last long enough for your grandchildren to use it. If not, the digital FET ones without a reverse polarity diode, will fry out the first time you connect the leads bckwards. Usually the first things to go out on the old school types are the switches on the front to select charge rates or voltages. With basic soldering skills, they are easy to replace. Also,t he battery clamps can corrode off, they are also easy to replace with a kit from Harbor Freight.

I hate my DSR 140. An hour and a half charging time isn't enough time to do jack squat on a dead battery. The gauge does nothing. This thing is a piece of junk. Save your money. Buy something else. I wish I had. My cheap Harbor Freight charger was way better.

Sc1445 is Complete garbage!!! I’ve gone through three within a year. They replaced each one without issue, the third one finally worked. Here I am 3-4 months down the road and bet you can guess. P.O.S. Doesn’t work. This company used to be fantastic, I’ll buy Chinese before I buy another one of these crap boxes.
