Having an episode without a guest is a breath of fresh air. I think Flagrant moving towards guests nearly all the time (when they got into the new studio) was the exact moment I only sort of listened to episodes. I loved hearing the guys philosophize on random stuff with one another in crew-only episodes, and with the guests it always (rightly so) centers on the guest, rather than letting other crew members shine. It feels like everyone except Andrew (and sometimes Akaash) otherwise are just relegated to making comments every once in a while. I'll always be a fan though, glad to see they're flourishing.

I just watched these guys with their bad take on Ronaldo vs Beyonce. If you are in the US, yes you would root for Beyonce. Outside North America, it's Ronaldo. Young kids literally practiced to play like him. From dribbles to free kicks to running, it was Ronaldo. Even Shakira, Beyonce's friend knows about this, just ask her. It's so funny because even young Brazilian children adore Ronaldo and Messi, ask Rodrygo and Vini Jnr. Ronaldo shifting a Coca-cola bottle during an interview cost Coca-Cola to lose $4BN in the stock market. Even after this generation, people will watch old clips of Ronaldo and Messi and still idolize them. Ronaldo is way more influential than Beyonce. If either he or Messi visit a 3rd world nation, everyone will show up at the airport to welcome them.

Ronaldo is definitely bigger across the world. It's hard to quantify a football players impact on the game, especially as an outfield player, because football is such a team oriented sport that has evolved to the point where transformative players like Pele, Maradona, and young Messi are extremely rare to see these days. However Ronaldo's die-hard attitude and diet planning was definitely somewhat revolutionary in football. Comedic genius from Schulz on that first topic. He says something that you have to hear the end of, “You know what’s f*cked up about fighting someone that calls you the n-word…” and he times the pause perfectly to get you thinking wtf is he about to say, then he delivers it and lets you laugh at what he said, then he said expands and gives you more to laugh at keeping you laughing for longer. Idk if that’s obvious but it’s interesting af.

Mark is being wild with his answer on Ronaldo, especially being a soccer fan. The guy has the most unbelievable highlights and change the way people looked at curving a soccer ball and what was even possible with it. Beyoncé is Jay-Z's woman and was at the height of being a very influential woman for other women. Cristiano was an influence for woman and men alike plus also shaping the knowledge of how we are able to do amazing things with an object.

Ronaldo was very influential. In fact when he came to Man Utd not only did he annoy the opposition with the way he played but even his own teammates would fuck him up in practise and tell him to stop dribbling so much and being a diva and stuff. Didn't matter though he just did his thing. Also Ronaldo made pulling your socks above the knees popular. I remember in 2003-2007 everyone wanted to look like him on the field. Also his freekick goals are some of the most unique you will ever see. Also and this is a big also. Winger Ronaldo and striker Ronaldo are practically two completely different players. If you watch Ronaldo today you don't get the full story, not even close. He used to break ankles in his 20s.

First of all love the pod. On Ronaldo, Mark missed the USP. All the guys who came before were considered a result of innate talent. Ronaldo is famous for being the guy who worked the hardest in football and got to number 1 through sheer will, unlike messi and Ronaldinho who appeared to have been born with great gifts. Ronaldo was always the hardest working, built himself up to idol status. This influenced many players to want to improve themselves and not just think well if I don't have talent I can't make it.
