Yes, I always liked Gilel´s strong rendering of no 5. Most people don´t even approach an Allegro Vivace...a similar case with Pollini in the Scherzo of Beethoven op 110

+Paul Lanfear Exciting but BANGY. The impact is jarring, and it's filled with howling inaccuracies. As a result this one movement seems out of phase with the rest of the performance. Much of this playing is very beautiful, but often his fortes are too strong. These wildly out of control, hyper-exaggerated, dynamics throw the phrasing and the general tone of the suite off kilter. Schubert should never be brutal or bombastic.

+Hyramess Hiramess "Howling inaccuracies"? Yes a few wrong notes but you do appreciate that this is normal in musical performance? What you are really saying is that this is not a performance heavily edited in the studio. Schubert should never be brutal? Really? Wandered? Or repeated forte chords as a child is about to be killed? Or how about D959? Is there anything more brutal in the history of music? This is a stupendous interpretation by one of the two-three greatest pianists in the era of recordings and like everyone else (eg Richter, Schubert himself), he too is allowed to make mistakes.

I've heard live performances that didn't have as many inaccuracies, so it's not "normal." Besides, I agree with Hyramess's other complaint: No. 5 is not just inaccurate, but bangy. I like the tempo too, but the fact is that in this performance he wasn't quite able to pull it off.

quoique vous disiez ou pensiez sur gilels il est un des plus grands pianistes du 20 ème siècle sans contestation possible je le préfère de loin à richter même si je le trouve meilleur dans brahm schumann , mozart chostakovtich et d 'autres encore ,, bien peu d'artistes maîtrisent schubert tout comme brahms musiciens qui paraissent faciles et qui exigence un talent redoutable voire du génie ,, seuls brendel , zimermann lipatti radu lupu et murray perahia m'ont fasciné dans le jeu schubertien

Grandiose, Gillels est véritablement habité par Schubert ! Comment redescendre de si haut ?

Gilels plays the opening of no. 1 so much more violently than Richter does. It sounds like a completely different piece.

А вы внимательно и спокойно почитайте ряд высказываний Нейгауза о Гилельсе (в том числе и об уникальности его звука!...) А потом задумайтесь над своим мнением - в чём Нейгауз был не прав...

@@sergheicovalenco683 А Вы, Сергей, прочитайте книгу Гордона "Гилельс. За гранью мифа". Гилельс для Нейгауза стал постоянной занозой с тех самых пор, как он впервые прослушал Гилельса перед Первым всесоюзным конкурсом. А о звуке как он мог не сказать -- ведь его все слышали.

@@user-rw1yh4iw5o Отвратительная книга. Плюс еще и лживая. Например, Гордон пишет, что Гилельсу не дали в СССР записать все концерты Бетховена. Но любой филофонист знает, что записаны они были и переиздавались не единожды. Если Гордон, как апологет Гилельса этого не знает, то грош ему цена как биографу. Но я все-таки думаю, что он просто лжет ибо таких примеров в этой книге еще не мало. Ну а весь последний раздел, посвященный поливанию грязью Рихтера, просто оскорбителен для самого Гилельса. Гилельс если и хорош, то совсем не потому, что Рихтер хуже.

Sagen wir mal nicht, welch ein Genie Gilels ist. Reden wir von Schuberts Musik. Das Tempo in 4 ist „moderato“. Hier wird das Stück seelenlos in den Abgrund gejagt. Dazu passt, dass Gilels zahlreiche schubertsche Dynamics überspielt.
