See I live in Spain, I have 4 kids and have had children go through the school system in the UK and here in Spain, for me Spain wins hands down! Yes we buy materials but we don't buy uniform.. which we did in the UK and especially when your children get to secondary school in the UK it becomes super expensive. Teachers here are way more caring and empathetic, my experience in the UK was as though it was a chore for them to teach the children. The school meals here in Spain are fantastic, well cooked and nutritious... No way would my 5 year old be eating squid in school in the UK. In terms of school books we were given a "bono" worth 160e the first year of primary then after that they use the "banco de Libros" where they hand the books back at the end of the year and get given more to use the following year, so all we have to buy is the activity book in English and music. We all like different things but I really do love the schooling system here, I know exams sound scary at aged 5/6 onwards but it ensures everyone has an understanding of what they are being taught as if they don't understand they repeat the year... But essentially that means that they don't progress through school without understanding the lessons they are having which for me is positive ❤️

you are right about one thing that is better in the UK: it´s worst over here...the tendency to memorize and don´t analize the problem, and then you find people who are in the uni, and they don´t have a clue to how give their own opinion, and then they complain all the time...it´s like a huge task for them, something so enormous to do...and it´s not, or at least, shouldn´t be like that...

The UK now offers 15 hours free childcare to 2 year olds for low income families and 30 hours free childcare for 3 years for working families. The early years provisions are in schools and private settings and they start teaching reading and writing at this young age. There is a huge emphasis on learning through play during the early years and a lot of forest schooling too! The meals are free to all children up to year 2 and they have improved sooo much, which is so lovely to see otherwise Lucio would be going in with a pack up 🤣 the teachers are really affectionate to the children especially the early years but not kisses haha it is the UK after all lol! I think like everywhere it all depends on school and setting as to how good or not good it is. I know lucio would be stressing so much over exams as he’s a little perfectionist so I’m pleased we don’t have exams here. They start school the September after their 4th birthday but it’s not compulsory. Compulsory school age is the term after their 5th birthday but most children start when they’re 4. Uniform can be pricey but all resources are free and they provide soooo much for them to do. At lucios school they have a tortoise and chickens the children get involved looking after. I think the schooling system has improved sooooo much since our day and especially for early years. Great video!!! Kisses and hugs from the UK!

In regards to the materials you have to buy for school, do you have to go out and buy them yourself or pay the school? Thanks x

You have to buy them yourself. I buy school books on Amazon or at the local stationary shop, whichever is cheaper. Xxx

You buy them yourself, that means, you can also adapt it to your budget. Its kind of fun, my mom and I used to go shopping for school together and we enjoyed it, it was kind of a tradition, she was a teacher and I was a student so it was fun to go together, afterwards we used to have a hot chocolate and churros at a small cafe.
