Own Schindler's List on Digital, Blu-ray & DVD: www.uphe.com/movies/schindler...
Schindler's List, a Steven Spielberg film, is a cinematic masterpiece that has become one of the most honored films of all time. Winner of seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, it also won every major Best Picture award and an exceptional number of additional honors. Among them were seven British Academy Awards; the Best Picture Awards from the New York Film Critics Circle, the National Society of Film Critics, the National Board of Review, the Producers Guild, the Los Angeles Film Critics, the Chicago, Boston and Dallas Film Critics; a Christopher Award; and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Golden Globe Awards. Steven Spielberg was further honored with the Directors Guild of America Award. The film presents the indelible true story of the enigmatic Oskar Schindler, a member of the Nazi party, womanizer, and war profiteer who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust. It is the triumph of one man who made a difference, and the drama of those who survived one of the darkest chapters in human history because of what he did. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film, which also won Academy Awards for Screenplay, Cinematography, Music, Editing and Art Direction, stars an acclaimed cast headed by Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, Jonathan Sagalle and Embeth Davidtz.

I think the fact that Spielberg chose not to show the exact fate of these children makes this scene all the more horrifying. He showed us what it was like from the point of view of those mothers: this was the last time they ever saw their children. They have absolutely no idea what happened to them after that, whether their deaths were quick or drawn out, how scared and alone they were during their final moments, all of these things forever remained a mystery to them until their dying day and was likely the source of many a sleepless night for them.

Most mothers did not have many sleepless nights, because many were also killed. But those who thought about it for a long time often went mad. Some tore out their hair, voluntarily threw themselves into the barbed wire, or slit their wrists. there is a report about a mother whose jaw was locked by the shock, so that she could no longer open her mouth. only after days of help from the other prisoners and alcohol was she able to open her mouth again.

@@noorrougelewis6704 It all depended on what was most convenient way to execute them with the resources available. Since the Nazi war machine had little use for children as labor, they killed most of them very early on with whatever means were available at the time. By the time the death camps were completed and fully operational, there weren't many children left to send to said camps.

that delayed reaction got me. at first I thought "Oh, they're moving the children" but then "... but where are they moving them to?" then I realized... those kids, trucks filled with children, are going straight to the killing fields or to the furnaces. the Nazis didn't just move children away from their parents to make them work elsewhere, they killed the children because they couldn't be worked as hard as their parents.

Doesn't it not remind you of Pinocchio when the children are all hoarded onto the boat for Pleasure Island and they're all happy not knowing that they're being taken away to their fates? Even worse with this is the realization from the parents when all of a sudden they turn into scream and horror and begin running despite the Nazi's are shooting at them and they don't care, they're literally dying on the ground to get to their children... Honestly I well up every time now, maybe because I have a baby niece since 2014 so that's my spark of paternal feeling.

I would think at the least they would take the kids and keep them in a separate part of the camp and use them as blackmail to make the parents more easier to manage and to work harder. I would think most of the parents only live for their kids in situations like this. If the kids are dead then the parents would have given up the will to live and want to die to join them.
