Same experience. Nobody was speaking to anyone. I treated a few Holocaust survivors at that time, their biggest fears was that they would be forgotten. This film helps tell their story and introduces actual people and occurrences. It’s almost a record of history.

Yeah I visited dachau. My father is Jewish and his mother was a small chilled and her parents were able to send her and one of her other young brother to England before sh*t really hit the fan. Her oldest brother was a young adult and had a fiancé. Of course my great grandparents begged him to leave as well. But his fiancé and his family decided to stay. They just didn’t think something like this would happen to them. Sadly they were both sent to Dachau and he was killed. I only had a picture of him and I remember my grand mother telling me just a few memories he remembered about him. So when I was there and I remember seeing the pile of shoes that were there I broke down, wonder how exactly he died? If he was shot or gassed, sickness, starvation? We never found out exactly how he died. According to some records we found that he was there until year before the camp was liberated. And the amount of fear he must of had. If it was my grandmother since she was only about 7 at the time she would have probably been sent straight to the gas chamber since they only kept children 13 and up. I’m glad my grandparents didn’t wait for things to get worse and were able to at least save two of their children.

Oh, and I found out just now Ralph Fiennes didn't win an Academy Award in the category for Best Supporting Actor ? His role as a nazi war criminal was imho incomprehensible and horrifyingly good. The Academy should be deeply ashamed of such an injustice. I will never be able to take them seriously again. Ever !
