The biggest crime against humanity: we never got a Cartoon Network Scene It?. We got a Scene It? for Nickelodeon and a Scene It? for Disney Channel, but not one for CN. A Cartoon Network edition of Scene It? in 2006 (the same year as the Nickelodeon edition’s release), which was during the era of their iconic CN City branding, would have gone HARD.

Cartoon Network Scene It probably wasn't done because they would've had to include Boomerang for it to feel right. Which was meant alot more time than they probably had to make each version of Scene It.

Also I could've sworn the Dance Dance Revolution DVD game (yes that's a real thing) has an ESRB rating as well, however I haven't checked so this could just be me being silly :P

As someone who is from Rochester, NY (the home of the Strong museum) I HIGHLY recommend going if you have any interest in videogames, toy history, or just anything to appeal to your inner child. I go every time I’m back in New York.

I still have my boxed copy of Disney Scene It! 20 something years later and the memories I had playing with my family were countless. There was a simplicity to these kinds of things that I feel get taken for granted nowadays. But back then, it was so much fun.

OK, I will admit, when I clicked on a deep dive on Scene It, I did not expect a full on How To Drink bit complete with denim apron, flannel shirt, sassy tasting notes and absurd amounts of spillage, but it's very much appreciated. Good bit.

Fun fact - The Fat Man also composed the music for the NES version of Maniac Mansion, alongside The 7th Guest, Loom, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, SimCity 2000, Wing Commander, and Ultima Underworld. Basically his entire gameography is full of hidden gems - definitely give it a view.

The opening alone is enough to watch this next big deep dive

fun fact: did you know that many people have come forward saying that when they were kids they had an irrational fear of the disney scene it menu music? it’s really interesting and if you go find any youtube video of the disney scene it music you’ll see people in the comments talking about it. also btw i just discovered ur channel and loved this video!

I remember having the Nickelodeon and Disney ones when i was little.

After watching the video, it’s interesting to get your take on the “Scene It?” Legacy, I was also happy to see how you also greatly disliked Gamestar trying to bring it back cynically and poorly lmao. It’s like there is a corporate clock in every private corporate office that showcases when any of their properties or IP is 20 years old so they can remake it. I knew that Gamestar seemed bad, I just don’t know HOW bad, but now I do, so thanks for that as well lol. Lot of interesting history about Scene It here that I didn’t know, I hope that if I’m able to go to the Strong Museum of play someday, that I’m able to check out some of their info on Scene It and other games I’m interested in. If the brand had lasted longer, we could've had Breaking Bad Scene It. Edit: Found out that Exponential recently put out their own successor to Scene It called Clipology, it doesn't have any crypto stuff so it's already a little better in that regard.

Who on earth let Michael Bay edit the video component of Movie Scene-It (2022) 😭 nutty as hell, great video Jonii and welcome back!

Out of all the Scene It? analyses I’ve seen, yours was the best. You went in depth on every aspect of the franchise without coming off as a Scott the Woz wannabe. I kinda wanted to make my own video about my experience growing up with these games (I collected so many and later sold almost all of them; now I own 2), but I guess I can’t do that now lol I would like to point out some information that wasn’t covered in the video. Screenlife’s website had playable Scene It? demos at one point, which are now also lost media (or at the very least, inaccessible). And Imagination Games has been around long before they found Gamestar, making DVD games (mostly based on game shows) in the mid-2000s. This was quite the watch, and I’m glad KZread’s recommendations helped me for once.

It’s awesome to see you posting again. I’ll have to check out your other projects. I need my jonii fix!

Scene It? became one of my main hyperfixations during the pandemic, mostly out of nostalgia from cable previews I saw in the late 2000's. The original and Jr. versions I've always love the early 2000's aesthetic they have, along with the unique themes they used for Music and the Nick one you went into detail about. I never owned one until 2020, but it was nice revisiting this relic of a bygone era. We were spoiled on Scene It? content in the 2000's and yet I still desire more of it, at the very least a spiritual successor of sorts. Considering how bad the 2022 Gamestar version was, complete with its desperate attempt to hop onto the crypto and metaverse bandwagons, Scene It?'s future isn't looking bright. You did a great job going over its history and later downfall, remaining entertaining the whole way through.
